This house inspired me to build our family home out straw bales. We are 5 years in and hopefully only 1year to go. Such a beautiful material to work with. Thanks Ben. NSW Aus
@@tiawainwright2894 Thank you Tia we have! My family and I moved in around a year ago and have loved it. Still plenty more work to do tho. All the best!
This house would be heavenly to live in! Not only is the craftsmanship just unbelievably beautiful but the way the couple have decorated it is beyond anything I could have dreamed up, but then again I'm sure they took inspiration from the house and it all just came about naturally. Good for them. At this point the baby is 7? What a lucky family! Tammie Miller
A true inspiration. Shame that planning departments are so against buildings like the one above, most people building their own homes take a great deal of care over them because guess what? They're their homes! Also it could end homelessness as well!
I watched the first programme of the house build and was extremley impressed and would love to have somewhere like it myself, a very organic building and love the lack of any truly straight lines, congratulations on the birth of your son he will lead a lovely life, regards Doc Cox
I have always loved this show but Ben's house is the most beautiful and inspiring home I have ever seen on this show. I have looked further and seen how the house has grown as the family grows. Fantastic.
This and the Puglia episodes are my all time fav episodes. Both on a VERY limited budget, built largely by the owners, and both end with a magical home.
My absolute ALL TIME favourite episode on Grand Designs. ... a modern day fairy story. A glorious HOME crafted and built with so much love. Just brilliant!
without doubt, the most beautiful house in England... built with inspiration and adding to the wealth of the planet....hope one day we can all have one!!!!!!
Charming! I am American living in France. They prefer stone homes here a lot but I've seen outbuildings made of roughly hewn wood just like this. A lot of people don't know how rural much of France is and many of the abodes are really tiny, even when there are large families. This is such a nice family. I wish them well! Good clip, uprated.
I couldn't agree with you more. I have seen a lot episodes from the series but this house have captured my heart. It's lovely because it has been built with so much love and passion. Lovin' it!
I'm so glad you posted this... Thank you... I've just watched an old Video today with the original program with Ben building his beautiful house.. I so enjoyed it and I'm so pleased that his life is going so well...
I'm sorry, I failed to mention Ben's remarkable talent for wood working, and incredible design technique. His raw talented vision results in magazine quality showings, and Ben's work should very well be mention, photographed and celebrated the world over! Beginning with Architectural Digest for starters'! What a magnificent talented woodworker, architecture, and on & on his many titles go! You, are quite remarkable Ben! ~Carol in Nashville, TN. USA
Now THIS is a house. Blending old and aesthetic elements with new and sustainable ideas. It is so warm and cozy looking too! So unlike much of modern architecture, with its cold white and stainless steel rooms and random shapes.
What a very beautiful story from any and all angles. This beautiful, and remarkable story also goes to show that yes, indeed, there truly is someone for everyone, and Ben's life has been very rewarding in the way that LOVE truly does find it's way to you when you least expect it! (Sheep, of all things, at that!) Congratulations Ben and Bev on love & your newborn son!
Lovely house. I love it. I'm staying home most of the time and trying to re arrange the house and keep it green and simple. this house is indeed lovely.
I absolutely love this house. The insulation is bails of straw stacked brick like ( the windows are 2 bails high) then wattle n daubed if i remember rightly. The hay barn was the best place to be in the cold when i was a kid (makeshift armchair, sometimes with a lil roof). Haven't seen this since 10? years ago when it was 1st built on tv and it's good to see it again, now it's settled. Also, it's local to me = another interest bonus. Love the fact it's off grid and practically self sustaining.
Ben's home is a great example of how beautiful a non-traditional, all-natural building can turn out. He builds homes using curved shaped roundwood called crucks. Cruck framing has a long tradition in England and makes great use of smaller bent trees when straight grain large diameter timbers aren't available. I would love to live here, have a look! ben law is a legend. really balanced, humble and peaceful. i'd love to meet him and work with him - i've read all his books. its amazing how content he is without just pursuing money. i stayed in a house he built in may 2011 local to where he lives - amazing place and i'd love to live in one permanently with my wife and kids. ben....your amazing!!!
really, could not even to begin to say amazing the place, the house, and you as people are. congratulations on the baby!!!!!!!!!!! hope you are all doing well:-)
I loved this house while it was being built and I am so glad firstly that I have been able to see it finished but importantly because of how life has turned out for Ben. I took no offence from Kevin sniffing the toilet or his comments re the rewards Ben has gained; I thought the hard work was obvious to anyone that watched the prequel. Thanks for sharing magua73
@mrnimble The same problems are also experienced in U.S.A. as well. I hope one day the whole world can live as free as the family in this video. So much potential... From Atlanta, GA ~
In the original documentary it was part of the agreement with the authorities responsible for the wood that it would be a temporary structure that could remain as long as he lived and worked there after which it must be removed. That may have changed of course or the authorities may well change their mind given what a fabulous job he has done. I hope that they do.
This was always my favourite 'Grand Designs' story. The house is absolutely beautiful. My fantasy home.
Wow...to think this was posted 8 years back.... What a beautiful home! Happy for Ben and his family!

Same here. I fell in love with this cottage when I first saw it and find myself revisiting it once in a while. A real dream home.

What a beautiful story. The plan, the location, the softness of the lines, and now the expansion of a family. Congratulations .
What a lovely home ! That house is a work of Art .......I'd love to have a home like this one myself.

Absolutely gorgeous!!! Ben has skill and obviously put alot of hardwork behind it- lots of respect
I'd love to see how the frame of the house was designed and built ... and what manner of construction was used ... it's amazing! Really beautiful!
Я так рада увидеть продолжение прекрасной истории! Хотя бы и на 17 лет позже)) сейчас этот малыш уже взрослый, надеюсь, у них по-прежнему всё хорошо!

A little piece of Heaven on Earth ! This is my dream home....
This was my favorite house from the entire series love Grand Designs
That house is a bastion of tranquility, it is wonderful, just fantastic.
lovely home..love the iron staircase, pillar candle chandelier, and wood hand rail along the garden side
that is a right proper cottage. I absolutely love the fenced in garden out front. Cozy little home you have there. Well done.
I am a big fan of this programme and this is my favourite house that has been featured on the programme up to now.
Sweet story, gorgeous baby, home and you can feel the warmth of the family.
Wow! Everything about this home and this family is beautiful
Beautiful and inspiring home. Bravo Ben, you have a gem in the woods!

This was a great episode. It was the only house that wasn’t worth anything yet probably the most desirable.
I'm in love. With the house, that is.
Gorgeous. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.
