- On today's episode of Homeworthy, we're in the Hudson Valley, visiting the cozy cottage of Toby Usnik and Harlan Bratcher.
Toby is head of communications at the british consulate in new york city and Harlan is a retail executive and entrepreneur who has successfully developed and introduced major lifestyle brands globally over the past 25 years.
They live on a gorgeous property in Red Hook New York that includes trails, a pond, a barn--and beautiful views of the Hudson river. So come along with us as Toby and Harlan--and their two adorable Jack Russell terriers--show us around this stunning property. Enjoy!

I've seen some beautiful homes Homeworthy has aired, but this one really touches my heart. It is welcoming and full of loved treasurers especially the horses that their late friend Kate gave them, so very special. 💕
I like how Toby and Harlan kept the integrity of the house when they remodeled. I like how they take care of the woods on the property. Most of all, I like how they give back to their community. (It's a given that the home and the property are beautiful!)
Everyone SHOULD have portraits of their adorable pets on the walls! Love it.
The walk in the woods was wonderful! I love the comment, "Taxes are high but they support great schools!" As a retired teacher, that attitude really touched my heart.

The soaking tub, hidden underneath the stairs is definitely genius! Even if the didn't have a tub there, an owner could use the space for storage - or more pottery!

I suffer from chronic back pain and today is particularly difficult. These two gentlemen and their dogs whisked me away to another world. It was a welcome escape. I am so glad there are kind, thoughtful, and generous people like these two men living their very best lives. 🌸🐝

Love this home! It reminds me of the lodge-style "cottage" I grew up in on Lake Minnetonka. It was built in the 1910s in similar fashion. My parents bought the place in the 1970s and it came with a lot of Arts and Crafts-era furniture, including a set of Stickley hickory chairs and tables and lots of antlers! They tore it down and built a McMansion in its place. 😢
The stone cottage and property are my dream!! But at 73, I don't think it will be realized. I am so happy this wonderful couple saw it come true for them. That vaulted ceiling and fireplace are so cozy . Like a cottage in a fairy tale. The roof lines, and angles , beams and windows in the loft are magic! Like being in a little tree house hideaway. The view from those open dining room doors is priceless!!!! Love the dog portraits!!!! I have 2 grand dogs... french bull dogs names Diesel and Dozer. I would love to get a portrait done of them. The hidden Japanese soaking tub is pure genius!!!!! And the jaw dropping property , forest and walking trails is mind blowing!!!! What an incredible way to live.
I’m a big fan of Homeworthy, and it’s true that every home has a story to tell, but this home has many stories to tell. It’s simply fantastic. As a fellow upstate New Yorker who lives near the Hudson River, I absolutely love this beautiful home. These guys have created a wonderful place to enjoy the natural beauty of New York State.
When Toby spoke it was usually "we"; when Harlan spoke it was usually "I" - very noticeable. Their home is very special and they are very caring animal lovers - YAY!

What a lovely cottage and woods. The design is superb! Colors are very calming and relaxing- kind of like going off to a stay at summer camp but with elevated decor.
This is far and away my favorite home I have seen on this program. Such a beautiful continuity of nature and human living space. The greens and earth tones are so restorative and peaceful. Thank you for sharing it with us. I wish the filming of the hiking trail had been a little clearer. Lots of blurring in areas. Overall a well spent 40 minutes.

This is a very special property and just perfect for Toby & Harlan because they are very special as well, they fit together like peanut butter and jelly. They appreciate the history and we can see the love they poured into preserving it and restoring it has brought the beauty and history together so perfectly !
