Improvements! NIKON Coolscan LS8000 LS9000 film holder (#8)

I changed holders coding mechanism for a faster handling.
By adding two recessed grips right beside the glassless masks it's much easier now to grab the strip and find the correct frame position.
For curly strips I made special top masks with integrated anti Newton glasses so you are able to scan glassless underneath your film strip and flatten it with a glass on top. Best flatness and finally no more Newton rings ;-)

Just wonder - do you know anyone who is able to REPAIR the scanner for electrical problems - I have both a broken LS8000 and LS9000; somehow the computer does not recognise the scanner any more.

Probably faulty firewire chips on scanners motherboard.

I get orange bleeds around the edge of my scans when not masking, is this normal? Where can I buy this holder/mask setup from?

This is normal if you don't crop large transparent borders around your frame. Your CCD line scanning based coolscan can't handle this very well (real drum scanners can). Send me a mail [e-mail] ;-)
