The machine works well! A cordless chainsaw is what you needed to trim out those thorn branches. A chainsaw mounted within arms reach would be a nice accessory.
Great Video! If you don’t mind me asking, could you give me a ballpark price for a unit like that? I live in North Alabama and our closest dealer is over 100 miles away.
Expect to pay about 30k new for nearly all base models without addons/accessories. The tough cut deck is another 5k new. There are used units out there if you can find them.
My neighbor bought one with just about all the accessories last year and it was over 40k. He never has told me how much over. Truly an amazing machine though.
I priced one recently, it was the most powerful model with all options and dual tires front and rear with a flail mower and it was $43,000. You can buy a new or larger used Deere or Kubota cab tractor with a lightweight rear mount flail for the same price. If these Ventrac’s were in the high 20’s like top end zero turns I would have bought it. I saved myself a lot of money with a Diamond Mower Pro 82” for my skid steer. It’s perfect for the rougher areas of my farm where I can’t get a batwing in.
Those branches in your face just suck when mowing! I know when we get in the groove it sucks to stop and get off the Ventrac but sometimes it just makes life easier in the long run :)
sorry to burst your bubble that machine can't really handle that enviroment you would best be served with a forestry mulcher that has tracks instead of tube tires and a cab to ride in instead of an open cockpit.
I priced an ASV RT120 with a mulcher. We are talking well over $150k for just the 2 items, you need a big trailer and truck big enough to haul it, on top of DOT enforcement (can't go anywhere around me without hitting a weight station or commercial vehicle log stops. It starts to add up quick. Let's just say a safe $250k for all, if you went new, or for the cost of just a mulcher head you get these results. For the price I think it does better than most expect. Most people bleed certain colors so they are already negative towards equipment. Thanks for watching.
I like how you kept some trees, makes them be able to get bigger with less competition from the little trees

Thats either a black locust or a Mesquite( depending on where you live. The thorns can be used for sewing needles!
Just took delivery of a 4520 last night. Looking forward to doing some work like this.
Thats not a meadow, its a half grown forest! Good job with the Ventrac!
Gotta love the Black Locust 😂😂😂😂😂
Is that what it is? I thought it was Hickory or something similar. I will have to do a bit more research.
I believe those trees with the Big Thorns are "Locust" ....
Sorry pushed wrong button. Small pruning shears could help.
Lol. I said the same thing a few videos back. He has them on the unit.
Great Video!

@@InsightLandCare thanks!
I was figuring $40,000.00 for all the bells and whistles and a tough cut mower.

That block looked like you needed a chainsaw and a chipper working with you.
Not my idea of a meadow.
👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I think those thorny limbs/tree is a Hickory. I will take care of it or cut it down. I was told the cows avoid it anyway.

You should watch my other videos, it's doing just fine.
I was thinking an ASV skidsteer with a Fecon mulching head on the front, but ya use what ya Brung, as DP says.
