  • This is my review and setup tips for the iFlight Baby Nazgul Nano.

    I just bought this a week ago. You CAN adjust the camera angle. Just cut the bottom of the cam mount and tilt the cam down and shim the back up. I changed mine to like 5 degrees. I rip mine inside, and outside!! I also took the battery holder and the screws off, and run a 380hv and use rubber bands. Don't really change anything. I just have 10 of them. I also got a eachine nano vtx for it in the future.

      Hello Jon Doe,
      Good job at thinking outside the box! I understand the fixed mount (this little guy is really good in a crash) but iFlight should have included an extra camera mount at a lower angle. However, for outdoors, 30 degrees is starting to grow on me (would never fly it indoors). Just as a FYI, GNB 380mHA 1S batteries fit in the battery mount (just longer). I am curious if you tried 450mHA battery? Maybe too heavy for the prop disk area & motors.

      @@slogfpv5679 I agree on the cam. I actually liked it at the high angle for full speed outside ripping around. But that's is not what I bought it for. I have only tried my 380 mah batteries that came with my eachine novice 2. They fly just like the nector 300's That fit in the factory holder.Don't have anything else to try.

    I just used your cli to get mine working again but to anyone else that uses it motor stop is on ! So when you arm the motors don’t spin and trust me you don’t want that cause when you 0 throttle for a trick your motors will stop and you’ll be in trouble.

      Hi StevieFPV,
      Not throwing rocks, but what you are saying is not entirely accurate. Yes motor stop is on and the motors will not spin with 0 throttle for Angle and Horizon mode. However, in Acro mode (Rate mode) Air mode is on which overrides motor stop. So if you are in Acro mode and at 0 throttle, the motors are spinning for freestyle. I just like being able to switch into angle mode with motor stop on for whoops and small micro quads for indoor flying (easier landing and prevents wall suck at 0 throttle for whoops).

      @@slogfpv5679 your wrong mate I only fly acro and when I armed the motors did not spin until I gave it throttle. Either way this isn’t a factory dump for the quad

      @@steviefpv Very weird.I just loaded my CLI diff with a screen scrape and when I flip it into Acro Mode, the motors spin. In Angle and Horizon they don't.
      The behavior on your quad seems contradictory to the Betaflight setting of having Air Mode on Aux 2. I guess I need to do a video on how Air mode overrides motor stop. To prove the point, I turned on Air mode permanently in the configuration tab and when armed, the motors spin overriding motor stop for all modes.
      FYI I do have the factory Diff if anyone is interested, just let me know.

      Yes she is a sweetheart and extremely smart. Like having a 4 year old as she opens up doors with handles in seconds. Also good with latches. :) SLOG

    I'm in the process of building a GHLRC Petrel 120 (delayed several times due to doa items) and was undecided on buying this Kawd. Wish I had. The cost to build the petrel ala cart is more than buying one outright built from mfg. I truly enjoy iFlight products more than others. love my Crimea 7". What part of the country do you reside.       Hi Bob, thanks for the sub! I live in the centennial state (northern Colorado). The Petrel 120 is a great light weight ripper, much faster than the Baby Nazgul. I have the HGLRC Parrot120, which is very similar. If you are flying a 7 inch, it was probably the right decision to go with the Petrel as the baby Nazgul is tiny!! Cheers, SLOG

    Hi slog i jave a Baby Nazgul 73 mm with a frsky D8 and i cannot seem to get the quad to Arm. I have a Taranis QX7 ACCST amd o was wondering how i can check the firmware level of my Transmitter. Would you know how i can get there?

      Hi Harry, Sorry you are having troubles. It sounds like you have bound your quad to your RC transmitter correct? If so, I would check your channel mapping (AETR1234 or TAER1234 are common mappings) and need to match your radio channel mappings. If you cannot bind your radio to your quad, here is a good video from Joshua Bardwell on the topic and what version FRYSKY broke compatibility with D8 and how to check your version. ua-cam.com/video/09g5MfTdiyw/v-deo.html
      If your mappings are correct and you're bound, you can look in your OSD while arming and it should tell you why it can't. Hope this helps.

      @@slogfpv5679 Wow yes thank you Slog i will go thru and check all that you mentioned. My Betaflight for some damn reason is in "Virtual mode". So when i enter say "bind_rx" my CLI is blank, i mean no data at all, nothing so i think ill delete it and redownload it to see if i get my correct version. If its not one thing in tbis hobby, something else breaks ot just comes out of tge6 blue🤔

      Slog i found the reason i was getting a blank CLI and it was a bad cable going to BF, my quad. So something is going on with the model which is XJT D8 and failsafe=No pulses. As you mentioned the issue may be in the channel mapping so ill match those up and hope for the best.

      SLOG We finally got it and my Baby Nazgul 73mm quad is now Arming and flying very well and stable. It was the channel mapping that didnt register in my brain that the mapping in the Radio setup AETR1234 must match the mixer so i changed each channel, added my Arm switch and recvr i all the sticks worked perfectly. I want to thank you for the time and effort you put in to help me. I really appreciate your knowledge. Thank you SLOG!!! Your awesome! ✈️✈️👍

    Sir, every time after a few flights, my baby gets back to its defaults with my rxsr on it, and I need to go hack to betaflight to get it running. Can you help me with this issue?please

      Hi, that is a new one for me where a flight controller would just randomly reconfigure to default settings on its own. The only thing I can think of is you have a defective FC (BLITZ F411 1S 5A AIO). The flight controllers have on board flash memory so that is getting corrupted somehow. I would back up your setting (sounds like you already are) and upgrade to the latest FW version and see if it does the same thing. If it does, you might have to get a new FC. You may also want to reach out to iFlight to see if they have any thoughts. Sorry I could not be of more help.

    I Got baby Nazgul with TBS Crossfire, but the d8 antenna still came right in, i can bind it by the software? because de button of binding of TBS works, but the button below de D8 Rx does not do nothing, and in BETAFLIGHT I'm not been able to: bin_rx spi or even bind_rx tbs, how do i do? i want to fly it, but my Crossfire just arrivez at friday! help me plz bro, is it possible?

      Hi Stefano, the Betaflight Devs moved the receiver option from the configuration tab to the receiver tab (top right corner) in the 10.8 version. Binding a TBS crossfire receiver is different than FRSky.
      FYI here is a good video on Joshua Bardwell's site on how to easily bind with TBS Crossfire.

      Hi Barnz1980, doing OK. Thanks for asking. My mother recently passed away at 92. She loved putting on FPV goggles to watch me fly whoops. So have been bummed out on flying FPV. Started flying whoops again as I know she would want me to continue to fly and have fun!

    PLEASE HELP! I just bought this baby nazgul 1s BNF ,I have a TARANIS QX7,I tried the usual holding the bind bottom on drone while I plug the battery while myvreciever is on binding mode but it just wont bind. It only makes music sounds.

      @1982pantro, since this is a SPI receiver, the easiest way to bind is to bring up the Betaflight configurator and in the CLI type "bind_rx". You can type in help if you want to see the syntax. I would try that first.

I'm still working on it as we speak, this is what am doing step by step, 1 created new model then put it in bind mode .2 beta flight cli,bind_rx spi. Hit enter but still I get nothing, does your baby nazgul makes music when you plug the battery? Sorry to bother but I REALLY WANT TO FLY THIS DRONE.

      Frsky broke backward compatibility with D8 ACCST when they came out with ACCST 2.0 (see link below). However, I tried binding in D16 mode on my Frsky Taranis X9D plus 2019 (my daily driver is a Radio Master TX16S) and was able to bind with the following steps:
      1. In Betaflight configurator change the SPI Bus Receiver Provider to FRSKY_X
      2. Go to CLI and type bind_rx
      3. In your transmitter model setup change the Mode to ACCST D16
      4.Put RC transmitter in bind mode
      Green light on bottom goes solid green if it is bound.

      @Nightlight, not sure what version of the Nazgul Nano you have and what version of Betaflight you are running? I am running 4.2.8 and typing in "bind_rx spi" with the SPI RX version works like I show in the video. In February, iFlight came out with an ELRS version using the new BLITZ 4F11 1s 5A AIO vs the SucceX F4 1s AIO which I have. If you type in help in the CLI, you should see a command for bind with the appropriate syntax.

      @@kymmedia2 because the TBS RX is external (not built into the Flight Controller), bind_rx spi will not work. Oscar Liang has good primer on getting started with TBS Crossfire, which goes through the setup and bind procedure. Link below.
