- I've just started playing Minecraft. Am I too late for the party? Watch as a total noob tries to figure out how to play. Lots of whispered commentary with mouth sounds and mouse clicks, while eating jolly ranchers. Very relaxing. Great way to help you sleep.

You asked. "How big is the map?" A: It does end, eventually, yes. However, you will never see the end of the map. The engine continually generates land up to a memory limit. The current limit is at around a petabyte, which at this point simply does not exist on a home computer. (So basically its infinite)

Here are some tips:
If you place water near your farmland, the tilled land will stay.
The wheat will stay if you do not harvest it.
Chests will not go away underground.
The game is best played on keyboard and mouse.
All wood types are the same, just with a different look.
The fletching table and smithing block are used in villages to give jobs.
Lapis Lazuli is as rare as diamonds and is used to enchant items and to get blue dye.
You get experience when you smelt gold or iron, but not when mined.
I personally use a FOV of 90, but anything over 60 is recommended.

Btw that purple stuff thats obsidien and can only be mined by a diamond pivkaxe the you make a better portal (look it up)

You basically need a diamond pickaxe to mine obsidian to make a nether portal, so i definitely recommend making one, also make an enchanting table so that you can keep your tools from breaking

If you hold shift and click an item in your inventory it immediately goes to your hot bar. If you do this while looking in a chest it goes in your inventory. You can also right click stacks of this to split them in half

No, there isn't really a better way to select your hotbar item than with the number row or scroll wheel. After a little practice, you'll get really good at switching to the item you're wanting to use.
Also, I'd recommend putting torches only on the right wall as you explore caves, so you can easily navigate back out

if you hit f3 on your keyboard, it will bring up your coordinates, and if you look at your Y-coordinate, diamonds are found around level 11-18, and are commonly found near lava

Here are some tips for you retro: different woods just look different, you can trade with the guy in the blue robe, for your wheat and pumpkins you need to hydrate the dirt by putting water next to it, and you need powered rails for your track if you want to go fast, you can power the rails by putting a red stone torch next to it. You don’t need to make all of them powered rails, only some. Great vid btw!

Tip: There is a meter next to where the cross is when your attacking. Make sure your not spam attack as it will do barely any damage rather make sure that meter is full before you attack. I suggest using your shield while it charges.

Minecraft is one of the few games I've played that's just as efficient and enjoyable with a keyboard and mouse vs controller
It dosn't really matter the controls are so simple
gold is very useless don't use it, and diamonds are for enchantment tables, once you collect enough you can make armor and weapons

You can use the scroll to move through your hot bar and keyboard and mouse is better. Also are you using have edition of minecraft
