      Someone I know complaints about their mate's weight all the time to me. I used to say how mean it sounds to hear anything bad about their other half. Now I don't comment. What should I say? Because I'm really sick of hearing the problem.

    Great stuff here you two! I am 57 and been married twice and what I have seen is people getting married too young, thinking the other person will complete them, fact is, they can only find that inner peace themselves (my first lesson) I hear many women complaining about their husbands, stating 'he has changed.' My 2cents? When a man is 'courting' a woman (which is French for wanting in her drawers...heheh) He does all types of awesome things for her, talks really sweet, gives her compliments, he dresses nice, takes her to dinner, the club, the movies, gives her gifts, has long talks on the phone with her. Then the woman says, "Ok, i'll slip deez drawers off for you." And soon after, slowly but surely, many men stop (or slow way down) doing all those things he did for her in the beginning. So she clamps the legs shut, thinking it will get that derailed train back on track, leaving the man bewildered, cause we are blind and stupid. (my second lesson)
    Communication, love and respect go a long way, but we must first have it for ourselves, only then to share with someone special. 💞🙏 Much love.

    @danitucker3749 Рік тому

    I think the man that keeps getting criticized by his in-laws should have a sit-down with them and his spouse and explained to the parents that he and his wife are one therefore when they critique you in a not good way there critiquing their own daughter. There should be no disrespect from either side of the table. Married 37 yrs one marriage for both of us. TY mr & mrs JR!

  • @gdub7509
    @gdub7509 Рік тому

    Great insights once again! Would add one thing from mine and my wife's books, "The Authority of Love, Second Edition" to your priorities and "gaps"...God......gap......."marriage,".....gap.....spouse.....gap....children/family...gap...church...gap...others...gap...work...most folks scratch their head with the 2nd and 3rd priorities and ask, "Hey Greg, marriage and spouse are the same thing, what's up?" My response is, "Are they really?" Eventually I explain that when you enter into Covenant Marriage the 2 become 1 and that "1" then takes priority over each of you as individuals. Many still are scratching their heads and then I ask, "How often have you seen marriages fall apart because one spouse is accommodating the other spouse to the detriment of the marriage and then using this in the divorce proceedings to claim they did what their spouse wanted?" Now the light begins to come on. We need to place our marriage above our spouse and our self in order to make decisions that are helpful for each of us and for the marriage itself which blesses and benefits our children, family and Christ's Church! Thanks for all you guys do and God bless in Christ (John 3:30)!

    I was wondering Micheal Jr. and Ebony if i could give my take on the first voice mail/question. The aspect of being too comfortable i think comes from modern idea on the media and around that marriage, love and relationships should be exciting, spontaneous and electric, and so when the excitement goes away, the attraction goes away and the relationship comes to an end. So the the need to put in extra work and effort (which on its own is fun and great when looked at from the right perspective but general is not at the moment) to keep the union going is reduced / eliminated.

    Michael Jr., you’re brilliantly hilarious AND a Christian🙌🏾 ➕ the More Than Funny show resulted in my favorite comedian switching from Dave Chapelle to you. Thank you two for doing this great podcast together.👍🏾 I’m only at the 11min mark & heard the man’s phone question re the order of relationships in marriage. I know that it’s God 1st, then husband & wife, then children. I also know that wisdom, common sense & other-centeredness implies that when babies & toddlers need to be prioritized re constant feeding, diaper changing, etc., and the wifey’s barely getting a bathroom break… not to mention a shower …AND had a C-section… that’s hardly the season for hubby to play the priority card.

  • @bereanist
    @bereanist Рік тому

    I enjoy both of you sharing wisdom with us.
    We all agree God first, spouse second, children third and everything else after children.
    The man that called in about his in-laws talking or treating him rudely, I experienced that for too many years & I am here to share that yes, his spouse should say something to her parents because she should love her husband and this should hurt her too. They are One…..
    My now ex after over 30 years of marriage put his mom before me and wasn’t bold & didn’t speak to his mom, the enemy came in and ruined my marriage. I stuck it out but I am better off now without them in my life regularly. They all live in a different state than me but I pray their eyes will opened before it is too late.

    Hello! Hi, my name is Mrs. Lisa Wilson, Just some friendly Godly advice, to help women out, men usually leave out of a relationship not because of another women, but because the women won't be quiet, women leave out of a relationship usually because she doesn't get enough attention. Men and women please always tell your spouse on a constance basis how good of a job their doing, let your husband know how good of job his doing as a husband and as a father. Same way with a wife, husband tell your wife how good of a job she is doing as a wife and mother. The more you tell each other the more the spouse wants to do for you without even asking, because your showing by telling them how much you appreciate them. But always keep God first in everything you do.

    About the in-laws, I will add that sometimes the inlaws know the wife well i.e. they share common values or they recognize things the spouse wants( needs sometimes)... The spontaneous comments of the in laws might be an important message...wake up call to the spouse or the family espousing their values ....
    I don't think it should always be dismissed.

    I don’t even talk to my husband right now and I am heart broken! He is telling me to drop the lawyer that I got because he left with our son! I know he reasons he did it for now but at the time it was dire that he would let me see him and he refused and the law could not tell me where he was! When I did find out it really upset me because the reason he left was not entirely true because I found a written paper that he wrote saying all these things almost as if this were all planned out! He doesn’t hear anything I say about how things are supposed to be! I don’t do this to shove the Bible down his throat but God is a God of order! Anything less is not what I want! God , me , our son and work!

    On the second question, it occurs to me when Jesus was asked "what is the most important commandment?", He replied love, love, and love. All the law flows from this, Jesus said. So if you're putting Jesus first, you're following this command and loving your spouse as He loves you.
    How does God love us? He loves us as a father loves his children, the Bible tells us.
