22 years in. My husband does not want to work on our marriage. Not sure what I will wake up to from day to day. Holding on for the sake of our children.
I LOVE that this couple opened up & Monique said when she got mad she said something’s she shouldn’t have. That’s real stuff. I think sometimes people when we go to church every couple look so happy & think there’s no issues they deal with but that’s so far from the truth. We should share our martial struggles with trusted couples like your mentor or a couple who have been walking with the Lord for a long time & been married for a long period as well. Our church has marriage conference & l LOVE it when the pastor & his wife as well as other couples share their marital problems & discuss how they worked through them. ❤️💓💕
When she started talking about "it was a bunch of stuff and then that set it off" ... I siad "YEP!" To all of that. The simplest thing can tip the boat
@MichaelJrComedy & your beautiful wife.. you both are a wonderful, amazing & hilarious couple. I came across your short videos & then stumbled across this podcast... Thank you for this episode.. I am literally in tears. I can resonate with their situation & have a lot of inner/self-healing to do.. I know that's a life long journey & I will always be learning & growing... thank you for allowing me tap into an area where I unknowingly was surpressing my feelings & did not know I was doing so, and would project onto my husband.. I love you both & also have much love to the beautiful couple as they were vulnerable & courageous enough to share their story; you both have helped so many people, especially me. Thank you ... ♥️♥️♥️
Great podcast!! I couldn’t stop watching until the end even though I’m single. Great relational processing with God in the middle of it. Thank you so much Michael JR for all you do!
Ebony & Michael, I came here to laugh (and I did) but there's so much more. Truth! Blessings! Conviction! Healing! It's official... God is GOOD! He's genuinely using the two of you to get His Word out here in a real, practical way-- thank you for being obedient. I am blessed. (5.14.23 Happy Mother's Day Ebony!)
That was a lot in a good way. I need to listen to that again. The being alone struggle hit me. I have a little more work to do there. I'm not married yet, but I'm so excited for the marriage course! I want to be prepared for marriage. Awesome podcast today, y'all! I appreciate the vulnerability 😊
🕊Peace and Blessings! This couple look so much alike, they belong together. The committee they have to God and one another is beautiful. The work you and your wife are doing IS Kingdom Work! You are funny which is a gift; however through your humor God speaks AND heals! Thank you for being obedient to God! May God continue to bless you, your union and all your sacrifices and righteous endeavors!
This was the first of these videos that I watched and it was quite difficult to continue to watch. Michael kept cutting off the husband and did not allow him to articulate what he viewed the problem as due to the fact that he needed to use more time to express his thoughts but yet there was time to discuss the issue with the sound and to leave it in. It might have been beneficial to give the guests the questions in advance so they can process their thoughts beforehand. I also didn't appreciate that it was made to seem like the issue in this episode only lies with how the wife was viewing her husband's inability to express his feelings. I can see how if this is the way the couple continues to be counseled, it can lead to resentment. It is great that Michael references that she should listen for God's voice but the same should have been said to the husband to determine why he struggles with being open with his wife. Marriage is a companionship, both people should be willing to be open with each other and listen to each other.
I was strolling through the comments to see if anyone would share this. I completely agree. While it's true that we are never alone because God is always with us and will never leave us nor forsake us, there is a difference between feeling alone and feeling lonely in a marriage. Living with an emotionally disconnected spouse is the most difficult thing to handle. There are many of us feeling lonely in marriage and I for one am constantly in prayer asking God for empathy, grace and to fill me with the love I need to love as He does. However, I often ask myself why can't this man that I've been married to for 30 years open up to me. I know it's childhood trauma. I've had A LOT of childhood trauma myself, but God! So I agree that this episode felt like Michael was totally focusing on her issues. It is a fact that the Lord uses all things as teaching moments for us to learn more about His sufficiency in our lives, but this doesn't excuse the husband to remain in his stoic place that he even called "stonewalling" which can actually cause more damage to the relationship than her feeling alone. This husband may say that he isn't bringing past hurt into this marriage, but from what I heard, he's definitely focusing on the danger of the trees on the road. I truly believe Michael means well, but my advice is go to professional Christian counselors. None of us have arrived to truly know how life works.
What if because he previously was rejected or dejected after he did express his feelings to become closer to people. Someone might have shot down his confidence in showing his feelings that now he won't share emotions or feels safer to keep stoic and not share.

Stonewalling and gaslighting...my husband does that all the time. Passive aggression is still aggression.
When you asked her if it was "about him" or "about her", that spoke to me. Thank you!

Then don't get married. It's not fair to your spouse to pay the price of the hurt someone else inflicted.
Ebony is beautiful
LOL, it can take all day to do nothing 😂
Nee ner nee ner neee ner
Never a dull moment working with MJ! 😂
