One of the most damaging things to my Christian faith - in fact the most damaging- was my first church who cared about popularity and non-believers coming to the church all at the cost and expense of the people who had already come to Christ in the church. I loved God and that church used me to pay the cost for their growth ambitions and reputation. 20 years later im still struggling to trust pastors and church leaders.
It's unfortunate because a great deal of churches today preach about their prosperity and how you can gain your own by following certain steps. Jesus did not promise prosperity on this earth if you just believe in Him. I have had experiences with such churches and that is when I decided to read and study the word for myself and not just blindly follow because even the pastors are capable of human error and sin. No one is infallible and it is with this mindset that I try to look at us all. I would say that it's best to make a very strong effort to study the bible and know who Jesus is for yourself and not what others tell you or insist on showing you. It takes work to study on a daily basis but it becomes so worthwhile when you have a continuous relationship with Jesus. Be Blessed
I too have struggled with church leaders who have let me down….but understand that if we keep our focus on Christ, honor Him, and worship Him ONLY……we will not be hurt by the failures of men and women, but we will expect it! We ALL need to beg forgiveness from God. We are all equally sinful and equally unworthy and it is ONLY through the blood of Jesus Christ and through God’s grace (unmerited favor) that we can even hope for eternal life with the Father! We see this in the scripture: Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

They come with banners posters and media propaganda with their names bigger and higher than the name of Yahshua, sometimes The name of Jesus is nowhere to be seen other than the preacher's. I've been for many and seen many in my Christian walk with The Messiah and noticed this competitiveness. To Yahweh be all glory and honour and praise forever, and ever, forever. Amen!!
