Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it. I always try to make reconstructions of the battles as faithful as possible, taking into account that I'm using a video game and it has to be entertaining.
"A cry for help in time of need, await relief from holy league. 60 days of siege, outnumbered and weak. Sent a message to the sky, wounded soldiers left to die. Will they hold the wall or will the city fall?-"
Unit variety was OFF-THE-CHARTS on this one, absolutely super happy with the way the units are portrayed, everyone's got their own 'unique' units so to speak and you really recognize each armies and variations very clearly, unlike in some previous battles. I'd say the use of the Great Bombard (with the janissaries pushing them) in Vienna might ... not have been my favorite sight to see, unless there's a secret part of history that says Janissaries defected with their great cannons to join the Siege. I understand you totally wanted big cannons for Vienna, though. To further improve your next scenarios, I'd recommend really managing the units and where they're going, I saw a unit clearly going where it shouldn't (like the ottoman cannon crossing the bridge at 2:40). I'd also use patrol or attack move a little more, as sometimes, it felt like some armies were just walking into combat, were attacked, and then didn't actually do anything until like five, ten seconds in. Finally, the voice narration could use to come in a little earlier. It felt like a deafening silence when the Cuirassiers charged the Ottomans attacking the front of the army for the first quarter minute, I could see their units starting to flank and get in position but the voice narration only came in after they'd charged in and started killing. A personal touch I'd add would be 'battle ambience' of medieval battlefields during fights, men screaming etc - there must be like a few dozen iterations from games and fan-made on UA-cam. It'd add to the battles. Just little 10-20 second cuts added atop the actual fights, I think it'd enhance the thing greatly. TLDR: Super super good work, you're improving every videos, I'm very happy to remain a consistent subscriber. @historyforgamers
Thank you very much for your comment and critique of the video. You help me a lot with your suggestions. I make a note to be more attentive to the behavior of the units. It's difficult to keep an eye on everyone with two computers at the same time, but I'll try to be more careful and make sure they don't do what they shouldn't 🤣. Yes, the narration at some points sounds a little later than it should and at other times it comes a little ahead. I will correct it in the next videos. Again, thank you for putting so much interest in the videos and trying to help me and for being such a loyal subscriber 👏👏👏.
15:08 To put the charge into perspective, they charged with 20 000 Horsemen - thrice the number of the Rohirrim in Return of the King if you want a visual reference - and it is considered the largest cavalry charge in history.
That's right Jonathan. In the video I went a little short on units to make it look more spectacular but I tried to be proportionate with respect to the total army.
The UA-cam algorithm... I hope that little by little the visits will increase. The Battle of Constantinople also took a while to take off, let's see if the same thing happens.
Wow, it's like a military history video but the battle isn't just a bunch of squares on a map. Fricking sweet. You don't have to stress the imaginative muscles much to get transported into the midst of the siege through this video.
@joew9690 because poland was useless the turks were beaten by a big german force. The poles came to late when the battle was already won and only carged at fleeing soilders. Poland was always weak.
Great video, I learned a lot. I always thought that it was just the Vienna garrison holding and then boom the winged hussars arrived. But it was good to learn about the pre-battle before the charge.
Yes, the charge of the winged hussars has become very famous, but the battle was much longer and more complex and was almost decided by the time it occurred. Thank you so much!
I have to agree. Empires Rise of the Modern Era was a rare case of a rts that would imitate the interior of a building that normally would not be shown, and this is a creative way to show the interior of a cathedral.
Wow! This might be your best one yet! Epic in both scope and visuals! I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while and it did not disappoint! Love your work, keep it up!
I really liked the aesthetic at the beginning when you had the video in the center and a small scene almost as a frame around it. I think it would be cool if you did an entire video in that format
Devs need to fix winged hussar unit. It should be upgrade for lancer unit not regular hussar. They used long lances in battle and were heavy cavalary. Poor stats of regular hussar line just ruin the reputation of winged hussars.
Polish Winged Hussars are a heavy cavalary unit and AoE2 should make changes. Light Cavalry could be turned into a unit called Lisowczyk which was really a light cav
@@aayanshbvs8337 There are several mods for that, for example "KJ - unlimited population". In any case, if you create the scenario from the editor you can put all the units you want.

Sadly, the in-game Winged Hussars poorly represent what these horsemen were. An Elite. Imagine today special forces (Marines, GROM etc.) Only the rich could afford a horse, armor, lance, saber and later a gun. They were strictly trained. A famous example os how 2 riders were instructed to ride so closely and tightely together that a coin placed between their feet would stay lodged by their foot pushing against each other. Imagine a cavalry charge equivellant to a wall of concrete charging at you. I don't remember if hussars existed when Jadwiga was King of Poland (most likely yes) but even then they were top notch, a small force capable of miraculous victories against a stronger opponnent. They preety much weren't medival, but more early modern.
Good content! Even I like it as a Turkish person :D Execution of Kara Mustafa Pasha was a very bad decision made by the sultan. Although he lost this battle, he was a great commander.

One of the main reasons I love the AoE2 community is because of the high proportion of history nerds.
By this film you can imagine how big mistake in Aoe2 was to give Poland Obuch instead of Winged Hussars as their core unit.
Tecnically, the Obuch is ok,since is used by the Poles from the 16th century to 18th (we could see them again in AoE 3 ever)...
