@@MrHuxley all the way? Like when I actually married Serana at the end? It was when I did my best playthrough. I role played as a Vigilant of Stendarr and did the Vigilant quest mod as a base. So my character was a disenchanted, hardened Paladin who lost his humanity in Molag Bal's plane of oblivion and became an extremely powerful paladin who would clear out dragur crypts and anything undead within seconds. He decides to come back to the hall of the vigilant to catch up with old friends and ends up joining the dawngard. Then that's where this mod comes in. Upon first glance, my character would have killed her but he stopped when he saw the Elder Scroll. Then the Dawnguard quest proceeds but its also a story about people finding their humanity again and eventually becoming a thing. I thoroughly enjoyed that playthrough and Id probably do it again but try to do the Vigilant questline better
Once you go mod you never go vanilla.

Dont forget the mod also enables her to interact with other follower mods like Inigo and Sofia, it makes those long travels survival a lot less boring, and a lot more immersive.

i did, and ended up deleting dialogue edit, it felt too weird hearing her voice changing so much. Btw it also bugged a lot of text, there's poor compatibility between those two. wont crash ur game but ends up being so weird
Skyrim seems to live due to it's modding community. No clue what that says about Bathesda, or AAA game publishing or capitalism in general, other than one or all of these are lacking.

Or even recruit the Modders as well. I’m sure just hiring at least some will help make the next game better. Last thing I want is another Civil war situation where I’m forced to pick one side instead of just uniting both and taking the fight to the Thalmor.

I don’t think this description is accurate. This mod doesn’t add additional dialog to the existing Serana character. It’s a fanfiction re-write of her character into something more fan-service oriented.
Noteably Serana as she existed explicitly did not want to enter into a romance with the Dragonborn.
While I don't necessarily mind it, I'm actually not a huge fan of the romance aspect of the mod either - as you said, it does go against what was previously established about Serana. I do have to give the creators the credit that the romance, in its own right, was decently written, at least in my opinion.
What I really love about the mod, though, is how it expands upon Dawnguard and the other questlines by having Serana react to everything that is happening. I really think you can get more than enough fun out of mod even if you decline Serana's romance through those interactions alone. I'm not trying to discredit your opinion here, I get why one might not like the mod, but perhaps I've made it more clear why I, personally, enjoy the mod a lot, despite its flaws.
@@DelusionalPoet I don’t recall saying that I didn’t like the mod, just that calling it an add-on for Serana was misleading. as for whether or not it’s good writing, I think it that if it wasn’t supposed to be Serana, I would agree.
Writing someone else’s character feels easier since someone else has already gone ahead and created the character, giving you a framework. It requires you to know the character really well, as well as the original writer did so that you can know what they would say and do in character.
The Serana add-on is a whole different take of the character. In it Serana’s character and emotions are more overt and overstated. The Dragonborn’s actions provoke much more of a response, sometimes bordering on melodramatic or romanticized. This is fundamentally different then Serana’s original character: she was even-keeled, spoke shortly of her feelings, underplayed her emotions, and conducted herself with grace and dignity even when experiencing intense or deeply personal feelings. Her world did not revolve around the Dragonborn, and she acted like it.
That’s what makes it a fan-service rewrite really. There’s nothing wrong with liking it or making it. Its a game, it’s a RPG, and people can play it and change it however they want to their hearts content. Characters do tend to feel more real when you can’t control them. We can’t control other people or their feelings in real life, even when they don’t do what we want or don’t care about the things we want them to. that’s part of what made Serana feel so real: early on, she would tell you to shove off if you tried to change gear or not take her home. She had her own agenda and you could either get on or get off.
Bruh, nah. If Bethesda would like me Marry some skooma addicted hagraven, but not Serana, then it needed to get rewritten. It popularity speaks volumes.

My biggest issue is the tone in her voice, and thus character, is completely different now. I understand they couldn't just get the original voice actor easily, and the ethics of AI are questionable to put it lightly, but could have the voice actor they chose just tried sounding a bit closer to vanilla, both in terms of tone and personality?
would not her clothes cause her to have chest burns during the day time? I think that serana needed clothes that cover all of her body to be realistic.
Vampires in Skyrim don't burn in the sunlight. Thats a different breed of vampire
SDA is awesome but it’s really not true to Serana’s character.
Her original character is very independent and strong, unfortunately certain dialogue lines in SDA really contradict that. Saying stuff like “you’re my only purpose to live, I’d be nothing without you” etc. and acting like the damsel in distress, needing someone else to save her is pretty OOC. Still it’s a great mod in its own right, both developer and VA are very talented folks. The mod is kind of like a parallel universe version of her.
SDA is a Retelling of Serana's Story, its not meant to be accurate. Its the Developer's Take on Serana as a character.
And idk when you last used the mod, but she is 100% not a Damsel in Distress, not even remotely

Just completed Dawnguard quest with this mod and I’m so impressed! I know there’s a few extra steps after in romance quests but on Xbox the mod is SDA 1.5 I know it has been updated on nexus a few times. Anyone know if a later version will come to Xbox to expand on this amazing mod even further?

i laugh at people that get mad about marrying serana and stuff, like their only argument is "she already ejected the dragonborn"
yeah u monkeys, it was made that way on purpose by bethesda just to troll community cuz they indeed made serana as a complete love partner for the player.
even if u get deep in lore, u'll notice that canonically she never rejected the dragonborn; neither she accepted him, but everything, lore and in game, everything points to one direction: they ended up being together, in both companion and lover way

She was literally r@ped to death by molag bal as ritual to become a vampire. her reason to reject the DB is entirely valid, she’s not ready and still processing all of the shit that happened to her. I’ve got nothing against this mod but acting like folks who disapprove of seranas romance have no legitimate argument is a bit ignorant 🤷♀️

It's not made that way "to troll" anyone, it's made that way because she has Sexual Trauma, and just waifu-ing her away like any other female character takes away from that

Not every female. No one wants to romance Temba or Uthgerd. On the other hand, Serana is among the top 3 of followers with amazing personality and dialogue lines

Ngl this mod is kinda cringe especially the dialogue delivery, the voice actress did a phenomenal job but whoever told her to pause before finishing evey single sentence watches too much anime and should touch the grass, like seriously it feels forced than natural like the original voice.

although still a well done mod. tbh I’m using it just for the sake of quest expansions regarding the vampire/dawnguard, plus I like all of the extra companion dialogues with popular custom followers.
sucks it can’t be removed mid playthrough but I’ve played Skyrim over 5-10 times already so I’ve experienced enough of vanilla serana to stray from her one playthough
