Looking great! My dad wasn't a sheet rocker, but I remember when he had to hang sheet rock, he would use chalk out of his chalk line box (that blue chalk powder). He would put it on the outlet/switch box and press the sheet rock against it. He probably would have liked that gadget you bought because of course; he loved tools.
Do not compare yourself with the men who do this all day every day! Bet they aren’t up to your standard with glass and mirrors😉 You have done amazingly well so BE PROUD❤
Very good! What I just did to drywall my ceilings alone was that I used a simple extendable support strut that has like a small rubber plate on both ends (it's actually made for just that, but I have no Idea if you have those or something similar around or what those are called in English...don't even know a specific name for it in German...). I extend it to where it is a little longer than the distance from floor to ceiling and lean it against the wall next to me. Then I lift the sheet of drywall to the ceiling and roughly position it where I want it and hold it aginst the ceiling with one hand, and with the other I grab the support strut and wedge it between floor and the middle of the sheet. That was holding the sheet in position without problem, and I could still adjust the position a little by pushing on it. Then I could just put in the screws and move to the next one...
Impressed, be proud you did the work yourself, Dalton, not only saved money, but self satisfaction that you did it yourself. From experience of an old house I know about out of plumb and imperfections, no worries, looks fine and has character. Rock on..........
Had no idea of the complexity! Totally eye opening! So sorry about no music 😎. This is being a real education worth hundreds! Also nice to have a bathroom!
Dalton isn’t it amazing that even too a small bathroom how many steps there is? You’re thinking about everything as you go along, that’s great. It’s not like building a closet right! Lot of stuff to think about. Awesome job! 👍👍👍👍
Love that handy yellow electrical outlet locater. The beauty of drywall is that you don't have to be perfect. Mud and trim will fix everything. Sweat equity is gold. Doing it yourself is the best decision if for no other reason than the learning process. Great progress!
Bathroom is really coming along great. Surprising how trim, paint and decor can hide those slight imperfections when the time comes. Just keep moving forward we're here cheering you on.😊❤
I always like the funny captions you put up. Wish you would make an Amazon Wish List of bath mat, bath towels, towel rack, hand towels, and bidet towels you want. They’d be delivered right to you. Keep up the good work! 😊
I see you have R 13 insulation bats in the roof rafters. Best advice it can give you is R 19 in the walls and a minimum of R 30 for the ceiling/attic. If possible, get insulation wrap for your pipes and any HVAC ductwork. You will be very happy that you did it when the heat of the summer comes! Great job and great progress!
Love the coming along. Still wish you would have done a 4 plug by counter. I love a 4 plug since I have so many hair tools to plug in and also my toothbrush. 😁
Great job! Thank you for showing that harbor freight outlet marker, I never knew that existed. I also appreciate you showing the missteps, all us DIYers make those, you learn and try not to repeat 🙂sometimes I repeat 😢. Looks great so far!
Hey man for copyright free music I use Suno ai, it’s all made on the spot and original so you don’t have to worry about copyright. Bathroom looks great!
He thought it would be a good idea, too. The water lines in the wall behind the toilet/shower prevented the installation from that side. The ceiling sloping on the other wouldn't work for the other. Had to go with swinging but it will be nice they won't open into each other. I had a set like that it was such a pain!
I like the ceiling light on a different circuit. If you are working in the room, you can always have light when working, either from the ceiling or a plug in lamp. That is going to be the nicest room in your house. I look forward to seeing what you do in the rest - especially that slab.
Good work Dalton! I watched another complete bathroom remodel a guy in the UK did and he saved £3,000 out of £8,000 by doing it himself. It also turned nice.
Listen, I've seen pro drywallers who shouldn't be calling themselves pros. You have done an awesome job. Get your doors on so when you sand that dust doesn't go everywhere.
I have all of the know how but none of the skill to do remodeling. lol. I have been really surprised how much control is needed to use power tools like circular saws, jigsaws, oscillating saws, etc.... You're doing a lot better than me!
Have you thought about tiling the entire toilet wall? Also the end of the closet wall. That way the transition from drywall to backer board is at a corner.
Well you guys got the rock up and didn't drop anything on the floor to break a tile yet. Looking closer to done now. The premade niche is the way to go.
Ya, in the past I’ve had UA-cam try to claim copyright on songs I wrote, I threatened litigation against them, UA-cam. No problem since, then again, it wasn’t that, it was that I had 100 subscribers. Lol.
I think it looks awesome. This is an art so if you can just get it "acceptable"...I call that a huge win. Just throw some good artwork up and nobody will notice. Getting so close!
So happy one of your friends jumped in to help! (no going to ask how much beer was consumed while you two worked😂). If it’s not too late, do you need to provide support for a possible the shower door?
Only mistake I can see is you used the wrong sheet rock. You need mold and moisture resistant wet zone sheet rock. We never stop learning in life. Future note ceiling first then walls . Keep factory joints together, save cracking in the future. Stand up sheet instead of horizantal seems, makes finishing far easier. In the end of the day you will have your own castle and a bit of education and some great memories.
It's hard to tell from the camera angle, but the door frame you chopped the top out, are you going to have issues with the top of the door hitting the bathroom ceiling when you swing it open? Also, on marking outlets and pipe on sheetrock, I've seen some tape over them and put a little joint compound or similar on the tape then press the sheetrock against it to mark each cutout.
Hard to know for certain until it’s put to the test but in theory it should open to at least 90° before that happens and at that point it’ll nearly be making contact with the vanity anyway. Worst case, i can turn it around and swing it out of the room towards the tall side
Why didn't you just plan on cutting door down or a bifold door, extenders for power boxes obv, put a back plate on toilet water valve-or banding tape with washers, it'll all come together when you patch and texture
Your corners are fine the door trim will hide all that anyway. Specially if you do some 1x3 or even 1x2 pre prined pine or something. That bathroom seemed so small when you first showed it. It didnt even seem realistic for use. Now, seeing you standing in the doorway, the comparison on apparent size is unreal and seems like a decent sized room.
@@lj5773 i think seeing it online throws off the perspective because a lot of people say it seems really small. It’s a 9’ x 10’ room, it’s honestly the biggest bathroom I’ve ever had lol
@marchingmoto it's probably because all the fixtures were on the short part of the room, and seeing you almost ducking down to get in there made it seem a lot tighter and small.
Pat yourself on the back. It is amazing the transformation you have done. Proud of ya.

Stop stressing over it dude, you and your friend have accomplished a hell of alot if you ask me and i'd be damn proud of what came out of it imo

Your videos are encouraging me to try more diy stuff without fear.
You have accomplished a lot on your house.
Magnifique!!! Great job. One piece at a time. Having helping friends is awesome.
You remind me so much of myself when I was younger. I spent 2 years renovating an old farmhouse using only a Home Depot how to book. Great work man!
You are getting it done! Congratulations on such a big accomplishment!
coming along nicely! Glad to see your subscriber number going up too🙂
Looks good bro!
Looking great man it's really coming together good. Have you thought about pocket doors.
I was thinking the same thing. Pocket doors would save a lot of room.

Another interesting and informative video. The bathroom is coming right along!

You were wise to replace the 24” door. My 1952 bathroom has a 24” door and I run into it all the time!
@@joeblow812 just in the few months i put up with it there, i knew i couldn’t live with it forever

Once you get the drywall up, it changes the look completely!!!

Nevermind lol

The premade niche is the way to go.
Usually youd want the door to swing toward the wall inside the room you're entering.
Not if it’s going to block the light switch
@marchingmoto true. Always an exception to every rule ✌️
