A little FYI, since u dropped the comment that u liked the drummer. The drummer from Nirvana was Dave Grohl, who latter became the frontman for the band Foo Fighters! Dave is an amazing musician in his own right.

Same. I always took the "I swear I don't have a gun" line to mean not kicking someone who's already down. Like you're already battered so I'm not gonna take shots at you.

On some level, I think you're right, but considering the band's name is Nirvana, the album title is Nevermind, and the song is "Come as you are" I seems like a religious or simply spiritual song about lost love, birth, rebirth, and death. "come as you are" is acceptance of a new offspring, "As you were" is embracing who/what you were in a previous life, and "As I want you to be" would be hope for the future. Basically, "take what you know from any form of previous existence, and I hope for the best for you if I'm not here, but mostly come, as you are" and the refrain is "I swear I don't have a gun", and yet he clearly did have a gun because he committed suicide with one, the song seems to be about his struggle with Heroin (mud and then bleach to clean needles, which was a Seattle campaign for addicts to stay safe in the late 89s and early 90s), and his fears about his ability to raise a child in not only a dysfunctional drug-infested lifestyle, but also the rising of the band and their stardom. Celebrity must be difficult to manage, with money coming in and people trying to take that money while you're struggling with addiction and apparently suicidal tendencies along with depression.
That's my take on the song, but as I said, I like your take, and I'll think about it when it plays in the background of some commercial selling furniture or baby formula.

You need to react to Nirvana's cover of 'The Man Who Sold the World' on MTV Unplugged. But as you are specifically asking for songs actually written by themselves 'Aneurysm' (Live at the Paramount) would be an excellent choice for a reaction.

PLEASE react to more. For one song you don’t like, there are always a few more you’ll love. That’s what I found with nirvana. And even if end up not liking them at the start you’ll end up with an appreciation of their structure of music and the rawness of their art.
Part of what I like about Kurt's lyrics is the possibility for them to be interpreted and made meaningful for different people in different ways. I always saw the confusing, contradictory sentiments discussed in the thing you read. Many people embrace it as an anthem for openminded acceptance. That is uplifting but it seems a little simplistically positive for Kurt.
The 'soak in bleach' campaign also inspired the name for the band's first album: Bleach.

Edit: Ok, sounds like you've heard that already but you should still do a reaction to it because the video basically defined popular culture in America in the 90s. Other songs to do are Lithium, Heart Shaped Box, In Bloom, School (Live at Reading 92), and many other but start there :) Try some other Seattle Grunge bands too - Pearl Jam - Evenflow; Soundgarden - Outshined and Black Hole Sun; Alice in Chains - Would?
