    He's 100% right. A lot people discredit him because they don't like him and he's never screamed charisma or big visual style through his personality. I really don't give a shit about that because he is a phenomenal producer and made a phenomenal contribution to hip-hop and R&B. He's a titan.

      He's my favourite ever hip hop producer. No real signature. Just a musical producer who incorporated the best of every style which made soulful and funky hit after hit for both radio and the clubs.

    I sat next to Jermaine & his daughter at the Grammy Award ceremony years ago when his daughter was a little girl. I want to thank him for his quiet generosity to me. I will forever be grateful to him for it. Although I wanted to ask him so bad about Janet(whom he was dating at the time). But I restrained myself. 😀

    As a Man teenager I use to bump Bo$$, Conscious Daughters, Ghetto Twinz, Mia X, Mc Lyte, Nusense of Pychodrama., Lil Kim and countless female rappers. I bought those albums with No shame. I very seldom heard females bumping those albums at least in chicago. Women never got in the car. and said play this female rapper. So i wonder did females support females rappers back then as much males supported other male artist.

    • @smarti1144
      @smarti1144 4 роки тому +1

      Maybe not. It is also a make dominated genre. I never considered how men would not listen to a woman rapper. I figured if they liked the song they liked the song. I remember seeing step shows using funkdafied for male fraternity because the track was hot.

      Females did bump female rappers. Salt n Pepa , Lauryn Hill, Lil Kim all blew up because female support unfortunately they didn't support enough females. It was mostly dudes that supported Lady of Rage, Isis, Queen Pen, Charli Baltimore, etc but I think it came down to the type of rapper they were. Women support women who have a softer sexier edge and dudes like more gangsta female rap. But of course there's exceptions to every rule.

  • @MannysMillennialMouth
    @MannysMillennialMouth 4 роки тому +6

    It's that Female Rappers are not battling the men rappers anymore. Male rappers feature female rappers ONLY when they need to talk nasty on their track. They're not being challenged lyrically anymore.
    But back then, Eve's verses went against DMX & Jadakiss
    Foxy's verses went against Jay-Z & Nas
    We don't have that now

    In the days of linear notes, I would read JD's produced albums and CDs with the passion of a student. He is an excellent producer with original music. When he sampled, it was never over the top. He just made you want to dance. From Silk, to Da Brat, to Silk Tymes Leather (the act that turned me on to JD), to MC, he is talented, and now he has learned to be a good businessman (that didn't come as natural to him, but he seems to have it now).

    Nah . JD you're production sound or the artists you signed were not trap DNA at all . JD has always been fun shit . Snap music is not synonymous with trap music.

    Well I'm going to agree with Steve stoute you have to look at Puff Daddy's catalog speaking of Dr Dre he will be a good fit to battle Puff Daddy because Puff Daddy has a Biggie Small and Dr Dre had a 2Pac you need a icon in your catalog to battle Diddy and I'm not dissing JD at all it just will be a better fit

    I dislike when Angela leans towards feminist ideologies. Feminism is a terrible thing that needs to be shamed. Zero part of this conversation should have been directed towards her personal grievances regarding male vs female rapperss. She led with particular questions that allowed her to eventually introject with her own biases and essentially put Jermaine in a defensive situation. Regardless of why she did this, the conversation didn't need to go there.
    A vast majority of female rappers have ghost writers including Lauren Hill, Cardi B, Da Brat, Meg thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, that female from Australia, Lil Kim, and more. Some females can write and can spit like Rah Digga, Lady of Rage, Missy, and others but most of the female rappers are not good. Somebody else wrote their stuff and told them how to spit it. Therefore, before Angela unnecessarily stands up for female rappers and mistakenly uses the "double standard" narrative she should take this into consideration.
