D&D Road Tour Ep. 4 - BEST Apple Fritter I ever put in my mouth...bar none!

If you are looking for the World's Best Apple Fritter Recipe, look no further. We found it at a little place in Knoxville, Tennessee called The Donut Shop. Now with a name like "The Donut Shop", you better have some good donuts and they didn't disappoint! The base donut dough is dense, yet light at the same time (if that's possible). The flavors of the donuts we tried were off the charts and the Apple Fritters...I could go on all day. Imagine 2 whole donuts worth of dough mixed with just the right blend of sugar, cinnamon and other spices. Jam packed with real hunks of apple sweetened just right. Bite into one of these tasty creations and your tastebuds will explode with flavor. You experience the soft bite in the middle surrounded by the crunch of the edges and then to take things to a whole new level -- how about drizzling the entire thing in caramel sauce. Oh my my, yes yes!!
This little shop is a fairly new edition to the Knoxville area but I have a feeling they will be around for a long time. Unfortunately, they opened right before the pandemic of 2020 -- not a good time to open a donut shop (or any business for that matter) but they perservered and now they are going strong. They are open til 2pm each day or until they sell out of donuts. As you can imagine, they end up closing many days before 2pm. As a matter of fact, we had to go twice to film this video because they had already sold out the first time we stopped by and it was before noon! You can bet we didn't make that mistake the second time. We got there around 8 am and even then, some of the flavors were already low or gone.
In this particular episode, we try three donuts -- Boston Creme, Nutella Coconut, and the World Famous Apple Fritter. All were amazing and I don't think you can go wrong with anything you try. But that apple fritter...have I mentioned that it was AMAZING!! As a matter of fact, it was so good that I went back and bought two more to go. I didn't even ask the price. It didn't matter, cause whatever the cost, it would be worth it!
If you are ever even close to the Knoxville area, do not miss "The Donut Shop".
