Catalina Island and the Queen Mary

While in Long Beach for work I took during the weekend a break to visit Catalina Island off the coast and visited the Queen Mary. Over the years I stayed on her a few times as a hotel guest and visited her often. She fascinates me every time again because she is the only preserved vessel I know of in my life time. Completely revited. I started my 57 years career at sea in 1949 on the Nieuw Amsterdam of the Holland America Line and regret we never preserved that beautiful flagship. She was like all the others scrapped. No cruise ship of today can hold that standard. But very few know.
