I've heard a lot of younger boys sing like that (with that technique). It's to help preserve their voice before they hit puberty. I don't know if he was professionally trained to sing that way or if that's just how he prefers to sing, but I've heard boys who purposely do it so that they don't damage their voice early

You have the voice just like Josh Groban and may get a positon in this competition if you give up your violin. Your technique with violin is just so so.

The first verse melody is totally incorrect. The judge is right, the boy did not need to add the violin part, since he played a lot of incorrect notes and it did not actually improve the performance. The boy has a good voice and does have talent, make no mistake, but this is an audition. If it did not go too well, don't blame the judges. This is a COMPETITION! Get some perspective, people! I would have liked aome subtitles in English
