It was a great moment to see Klaus Schulze at this time : a silent white little prince entering on stage and directly going to his machines, sitting cross-legged, still and calm, and starting to play a whole world of splendor we discover together. This is in the trunk of my best memories !
@@Baghdadbatterymusic Vangelis is also one of the greatest synthesists... and I got his music to know from the same electronica radio show ("Schwingungen", German "oscillations" on West German Broadcast, from 1984 to 1995) as Klaus Schulze's!

I love this guy so much. If I played all the CDs I've recently bought of his back to back I'd be listening to him 24 hours a day for over 3 days... Next times I'm tripping, I'm using him.
Ja er ist ein Pionier der Elektronische Musik ,habe noch eine LP von Klaus schultze Galaxy my Dear .Eine rachität von feinsten ,da kann man mitreisen ins All.Leider ist er von uns gegangen am 26.4.2022.
At that time I was Teenager and his music was my only drug (without testing any other). I listened it with my Koss headphones. Specially listening the album „X“ I was in heaven…
He was accompanied by the human drum machine, Michael Shrieve, on a. few albums and you can really understand just how deep into percussion Schulze, and all keyboardists, are as we do feel those beats and rhythms. His Ash Ra Temple stage was a pretty cool beginning for one so borne to be a master of the genre. The way his 70s compositions always had the percussion build up that was accentuated by the wash-wave of a slow "waaahhhh" is a bit of signature, isn't it?
That synth which appears first to sight is EMS AKS, essentially a VCS 3 built into plastic suitcase style casing. Unlike VCS 3, AKS had 256 step digital sequenser in it, one of the first of its kind.
+Pete Brown In their defense, half of the time we're essentially watching him hold down a key and slowly turn a knob, it isn't exactly a Kiss concert. I like the "artsy shots," I think it was very complimentary to the music.
***** Are you sure? I mean I never had Minimoog (and any other synth) in my hands, but the synth on video has horizontal panel with regulators, and Minimoog has (almost) vertical one...
mpingo91 The panels on a Minimoog can lay flat/horizontal (they move up and down in case you didn't know) and most people like to have it vertical... but not everyone. ;-)
mpingo91 theres also a lot of DOEPFER gear from what i see , there were a lot of DIY Synthesizer Kits in the 70s especially in Germany.. The Synth at 4:30 is definetively a Moog because of the Rectangular Logo on the Right side above the Keys :)
Twelve Pinch Um, no Doepfer gear there that I see. The only thing Doepfer made back then was a Phaser module which wasn't released until 1979 (though it may have been in kit form in '77.) If you are talking about the White vertical synth sitting to the left of Klaus, that is an EMS Synthi A. EDIT: In fact, checking his site now, he's never owned any Doepfer gear, especially back then. His 1977 Equipment list: Farfisa Duo organ, EMS Synthi A, ARP Odyssey, ARP 2600, Farfisa Syntorchester, Moog Synthesizer IIIp & Sequencer Complement B, Minimoogs, Polymoog, Yamaha CS 80, Korg PS 3300 and various effects.
Genshi Media GroupThey (Doepfer) basically made the same stuff 2 years later so mixing up that gear is easily done. Ive just now heard of Klaus Schulze and i dont know his gear neither do i know his music except for this Video and am not an Expert in Musical History ! But yes 4:30 is a Moog theres no doubt in my mind since i have one and its standing right next to me. The White one ofcourse is an EMS Synthi ;)

Unbelievable that this is 1977!!! Add a 909 and a 303 and this would have blown people away in 1997! It still does today...
The fact that one man is responsible for these huge soundscapes blows my mind every time. He can do everything 3 musicians normally do at once

@@yadgar1969 What does Vangelis have to do with me finding Klaus impressive? Sure, Vangelis is great too but that isn't at all relevant here.

Danke lieber Klaus für dein Lebenswerk, du hast und wirst viele Menschen inspirieren, immer wieder 🥹 ❤🔥
To imagine I spent my childhood listening to musicians like this instead of what was 'popular' among my peers. Still love this music 35 years on...
I was listening to kitaro and Wendy Carlos and space music since Wendy was walter.
Richard Cheesman me too
it's a chance,it's a fabulous,it's a trip of brigthness,it(s a foreign choice,it's a raod,it's a love.....
Schulze is one of the most popular electronic musician, just saying.
