wow ive been using the exact same perks on hatchet and bow for a while now - in expectation of the season 2 changes. nice to see that maybe im not as dumb as I thought, if im not alone in making those build choices :) everyone else I know are still slaves to the rapier and pen shot meta.
I think habit is the biggest argument for continuing to use Pen Shot and Rapier is my favorite weapon after Bow, but for 95% bow playstyle doesn't really contribute anything tbh. Ngl, I like the new changes, we are still strong af and it's refreshing :D
Yep. There is another factors to consider too. - Rapid shot 2nd arrow don't get dmg increase from Sighted runeglass (1 sec cd) First 2 arrows are shoot too fast, in 0.5 sec. - Rapid shot armor penetration (something like 4% to 8%, depends enemy armor type) - Minor perks, dmg like mark or long range. And Utility like cooldown reduction (closing in) and stamina per hit. - More arrows, if the enemy dodge after Pen shot (like usual) we hit 310%, if they dodge 2nd Rapid shot arrow, we still hit for 385% (+penetration), and taking in consideration all the dmg amplification, the diff is actually bigger. There is many different variables, sometimes Pen is better and in others Rapid, but in general with Rapid shot u will get a more reliable single target dmg + utility. I'll say if u are in a killing squad in war, Rapid Shot. If u are in the 4 bows group and they are calling bombs with AoE, go for Pen shot. Now with the new RoA is very common that bow group hold it and help to bomb specific locations, and in that situation Pen shot is gonna be better.
@@bobdemyer9887 😁 yup, armor penetration isn't base, u need use the perk on armor bit yeah is 19% armor penetration. Use it on weapon is like 33% but it isn't worth it. I mean not the worst perk, but definitely not the best.
@thacousin Right now, I'm running Explosive, Rain, and Poison and let the DoTs kill while I run away ajd dsp them more and giggle. I'm not sure if I want to change that or not.
@@bobdemyer9887 For DoT build Enchanted is better for sure. Long cd abilities so u will use normal attack a lot + poison and exclusive shot don't benefit much from vicious.
Yeah is a nerf in some way, but not that bad imo, sometimes we cancel Rapid Shot before shooting the last arrow and that just nullifies both minor perks anyway. Same with pen shot, single target at 19m or less just make both small perks completely useless. And at 20+meters it's just not a significant extra dmg in comparison with explosive arrow perks that have much less restrictions to apply, like, land the shoot to burn them or just hit the ground close enough for a big explosion. An Explosive direct hit is 233%, lot of dmg + DoT In favor of Pen Shot we can say that it's still better to shoot "AoE" to clumps, but usually isn't the main role of bows and now we have RoA for some real AoE clump help. RoA + Rapid Shot really hurts, and puts in the enemy a lot of pressure. The slow applied for RoA proc Dex perk too, for more crit dmg, kind of free vicious ?) Overall we'll need to play, test and try different versions to find the best for us, but I think we shouldn't limit ourselves to Pen Shot just for the habit of using it :D
@@ThaCousin the last shot of Rapid shot used to be deadly now I can feel the difference I agree pen shot never needed extension perk I mostly play with spear so I need evade shot there fire I can use explosive arrow with all the perk extensions
