Glad how it turned out, just hope they find time to fix the game in this race for pumping out new warbonds. The crashes and questionable balancing remain a big issue.
I literally cant name a single bug thats been actually fixed, all the bugs from day one are still there, and the crashing is still day one level.
at least you get a new gun that you have to pay money for that will crash your game, every month.
For real. The game's performance is awful on my rig.
For real man, the only way to get it to run smoothly for me is running it through proton and DX11

Man the whole Sony Helldivers 2 thing really made the game nosedive in ratings and everyone hating them.
At least it only took a couple of days for them to revert it and at least minimized the amount of damage that Arrowhead and the game took, though some other factors outside of Sony weren't making them look good either.
The mandatory PSN inclusion was planned from the beginning but got delayed. When Sony got around to adding it it was universally panned as anti-consumer, muchlike "always online" games and other forms of intrusive DRM.
The worst part about it is allowing non psn countries to buy helldivers 2. If they were going to mandate a psn login, why did sony sell it in non psn countries? Really feels like they wanted to take peoples money and run in those excluded countries.
@@SeanSMSTThat is what seems to have been the tipping point. An oversight that eliminated any potential of staying in a grey zone.
It will be interesting to see how the Ghosts of Tsushima does, it is upfront that will require psn for its multiplayer, but it could still be played singleplayer without.

A lot of people might think of Max Headroom as the first attempt at a virtual host but it was all smoke and mirrors.
Probably the oldest real virtual host was Cartoon Network’s Moxie. They were teasing it since the launch of the channel and gave it a test run on the first anniversary of the channel with a live Spanish translation. It wasn’t prerecorded, they put a couple of kids looking at a TV with a MoCap low-poly cartoon dog voiced by Bobcat Goldwaith answering the kids questions in real time. Cringy and underwhelming, even back then.
Apparently it didn’t worked out very well so they decided to take a different approach with Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and tried to give the character a second chance as prerecorded interstitials for one of their many compilation shows with old 40s shorts. It was later replaced by Cartoon Planet, also with Space Ghost as host and, ironically, more interactive with the audience.

Max headroom wasn't actually virtual, but the idea and aesthetic that it popularised likely had an effect in facial rigging development. Max Headroom as a character has lasted to this day cause of the internet, where virtual hosts thrive. I think it's cool

Those clowns will never convince me the prequels are good movies. I'll admit they have entertaining parts but the dialogue is so bad
Something still bugs me tho:
Will the game be listed again to Steam? Then people who refunded the game will probably buy back the game, then in a sense the loss/impact to Sony is minimal.
Give me a feeling that we may won the battle but lost the war.

To an exec this is probably just, as anything, a numbers issue rather than a money issue. They're probably rolling their eyes at this, then pivot to make sure something else will appease their shareholders.
Remember: gamers are "entitled" to these types and are a nuisance rather than their literal customer base.
The Gamer's mind is fickle, that's how our Corporate Overlords managed to force microtransactions and day one DLCs down our throats. Even the Gamergaters are more interested about chasing the high of the new thing to get angry about than actually do anything meaningful.
Nothing will ever change and we're mostly to blame for it.
Let's face it, the people making these sorts of grand gestures and proclaiming publicly that they "just refunded" the game they already put 600 hours into... they either never did refund it or they never even bought it in the first place.
The percentage of folks who actually reverted their purchase and put actual pressure on Sony is so freaking tiny, they virtually don't matter at all. People would have forgotten in a matter of days, just like people who praise Steam as a great, morally upstanding platform - as if we didn't request refunds for like 15 or so years and as if people weren't originally downright hating Valve for pretty much birthing online-only DRM.
Gamers forget.

A rational adult take: The game explicitly designed to have everyone work together in a super passionate fervor is affected by a large tearing up of playerbase, so they do what they've literally been doing this entire time but directed at a real company. Once the situation is reversed, they go back to directing the exact same energy towards the game again.
The game literally trained people do this, and the entire marketing of the game is centered around being extremely pumped about what they're doing. You're complaining about the playerbase doing exactly what the intention was from the outset.
