Hey Alex! Thanks for taking the time to review the game! I will clarify a few things... - Eggs are also used in different Bonus Card effects and different characters use them in their abilities, as well - There are a number of positive weathers that cross all seasons - I would say that if foraging is your primary method of gaining food, that would be a very inefficient play style. If you make use of all your abilities, the forage action would only be taken sparingly when you happen to need that one extra food before doing some combo. There are many other ways to get food (Grubs, Bonus Cards, Loot Drops, Production) and I would recommend seeing foraging as a backup and not the primary method of gaining food 🙂
I don't think Alex is talking about just foraging, his point (which i agree) was that everything you do is to get food, spend food. Yes you can use various ways to get food, but in the end you are still get food spend food
@@ylein6508 I think the same thing could be said of Ark Nova- get money, spend money, but I think in both cases, it would be a great oversimplification of the game 🙂
Hey Matt! By the end of our first game, we finally started to understand how important getting abilities was. We got wrecked 😂 and are excited to try it again!!!
I got to see a playthrough of this game at a conference, and the guy who played as General Tso actually hoarded eggs through egg exchanges. The General's top ability allows him to impact dice rolls by paying eggs. It turned out to be super helpful in mitigating some of the predator return attack abilities and helping others with rolls for gaining eggs, capturing grubs, etc. Personally, when I've played, I didn't need to forage nearly as often as you said. Even when I was Attila, who needs a higher number of meals to level up, I never felt like I was wasting all of my time foraging. Taking advantage of the cards was key!
Thank you for the review as your concerns would disappoint me as well. With the lack of BGG user reviews, which may indicate a lack of public play testing, and being their first Kickstarter, I will wait for retail.
Hi:) I have to say that with this video you have cofirmed one more time how much I appreciate yours works and videos. I really love this section what I lika, but even more what I don't like and what others may not liking, cause thanks to these I can find out about small things that may seem insignificant, but make a big difference. Like this gathering food mechanic, or that even if we have different resources it is doesn't matter at all. And that if it comes to anything, we have to first roll a dice. First I was charmed about this game and I was ready to back it, but now, when I know all of these, I rather pass this time. Thank you a lot:)
I agree, the game looks real fun! But shipping and VAT is a major bummer. For the price of the game I'm backing for sure. But those extra costs are $45, which make it $125 instead of $80... yikes.
@@dannywijnants1240 Yeah, VAT is crazy. I had no idea before starting this that the EU charged boardgames a 25% tax on entering, even on the shipping! 😳 That must make getting games in the EU a lot harder :/
@@matthewmundy9344 Indeed! It's a hard call; back now or wait for retail. At the local retailer we also pay Vat, only no shipping(plus vat). And of course some profits for the retailer. During a campaign there is also the 2% exchange fee: $>€

Just wanting to thank Matthew for responding to videos such as these for us potential buyers!

What's your thought on this @Alex ?

Thank you so much for the review! When a KS is live it can be hard to find an unbiased opinion.
Absolutely! Happy to help
They had me with chicken puns.

Played this on saturday! Fun chill game! Would suggest people try it if they like coops
Nice!
I felt the same way about the eggs in my first play. I wasn’t sure about the game, but my group really loved it! Makes me excited to play it more 😊
I'm glad!
I recognized Andrew Bosley's art style from the thumbnail of the video, he's so good!
Game looks really good. Just not seeing the advantage to not wait for retail, especially with shipping to Canada.
Because we’re a small indie publisher, there might not be a retail release 🐣
His concerns with the game resonates with me, and the game price plus shipping is holding me back

reminds me of Creature Comforts or Maple Valley
