How did this happen? This was such an obscure NES game. Where in the world did this incredible orchestral version come from? And where the hell did Vurez get the idea for such an epic retelling of this game's tale?
If I read your comment 5 years ago, I would have laughed. Never expected nostalgia breakdowns to be a thing. Now that I'm officially old, I can feel this in my soul, my guy ✊😔
Man...there's even the thunderstorm in the background. It may have been an 8 bit song in 1987, but THIS is what it sounded like in my head as a little kid.
Now I understand what the developers intended when they created this game. Because of the limitations of the NES, the music fell short of the mark. This story, told in Eastern tradition could probably make an epic movie, with the right budget, actors, and fx.
In all fairness, they did not push the NES to its fullest with the game. The NES's soundchip is capable of so much more, as evidenced by Journey To Silius on the NES. Then again, it was an early title for the NES, hard to expect technical mastery of what was then a new platform
Man I used to play this game all the time. Music engrained in me, as it looped, but not THAT engrained as I was busy cursing over the firespitting enemies jumping in from out of nowhere and all the unfair deaths. Kudos; great mix.
When I heard this music back when I was 5, it never came out of my head. I still know the run/playthrough fom the back of my head. The music timing, I would chant this whenever I'm in a hurry; be it going to the toilet or something else. This and Adventure Island 4 will forever be in my heart and mind.
You have no idea how much this game influenced me as a kid and as a girl...!! Mainly because I thought the protaganist was a girl rescuing a princess, mainly because of the ponytail and the mini skirt ( or at least that's what I thought it was). It sincerely made me believe girls can be awesome martial heroes too.
Such an underrated game. I didn't know it until I saw this video, and it's better than any Nintendo 8 bits francise. It's light years away from what they had back there in the 80's.
"Kage" successfully saved princess "Kiri" from the enemy. all the evils disappeared in the peace pervades everywhere. this was a story of a young ninja in old days in japan .. however ....
It's The Legend of Kage's BGM that keeps me coming back to play it on the Family Computer/NES when I have the chance, even if I sucked hard at it. This rearrangement is absolute magnificence.
I’ve played the violin in my orchestra classes back in highschool and hearing the violin play for this is so cool to hear :) I like the orchestra music for this :)
The algorithm works in mysterious ways... glad i stumbled upon this tho. I had this game as a kid and this music just takes it to a whole new level. Kudos
this is awesome what you have started! the main melody for section A was most likely written for a flute (ryuteki, etc) Also, I hear a lot of repeat plucking on the koto. That's more of a chinese thing, and is not very common in Japanese koto usage.
Damn!!! I so remember owning this game. It was hard as f*ck even with the GameGenie codes. With a Ghost and Goblins effect as to reset the entire game in the same screen you finish it. Nostalgia at his best.

Holden the second one was amazing
Actually, this was quite popular in Japan and East Asia in general. A couple reboots and sequels were made.
This was a huge arcade hit before it was an obscure NES game....
The 8-bit audio on this was actually quite amazing in what it conveyed in such a limited audio format.
The Arcade game got ports to many other systems than the NES
those who have played this game will understand epicness of this music :)
Ikr 😃
I played that game before, and it's awesome. 😊
😭😭😭
No shit
Lucky Metekheli • øk
This is how I heard the music in my head when I played this game as a child decades ago. Fantastic work!
Exactly
Me too thought the same way bro
True asf 😢❤😂
Thanks for making me cry like a bitch in nostalgic feels
wtf xD
Crying means relieving your emotions.
You're not a bitch if you cry, you're an emotional mature level person.
😂😅
If you cry like a bitch..... Then You are a bitch 😌🔥

The Only Ninja Game Worth Playing With Music
It's just one of the best arrangements for a video game song I have ever heard and only old school gamer can appreciate this as I do.
This was suggested after AVGN's recent episode on this game.
Man...there's even the thunderstorm in the background.
It may have been an 8 bit song in 1987, but THIS is what it sounded like in my head as a little kid.
If you look for the meaning of "masterpiece" in a dictionary, you'll find this song.
Wow cant thank you enough for that i actually got chills lol this game meant a lot to me as a child

Please kage, make sure you hold your princess tightly so she didn't stolen by flying ninja
Man I love this one. My childhood game.
Beautiful, but it's very sad that it ended with Kage's death. Tragic, like an ancient romance
The entire thing here is just perfect. Standing ovation. This is exactly what arcade games felt like in the '80s.
Man I used to play this game all the time. Music engrained in me, as it looped, but not THAT engrained as I was busy cursing over the firespitting enemies jumping in from out of nowhere and all the unfair deaths. Kudos; great mix.
This hits hard right in my feelings lengend of kage 😍😍😍😍
The music in the last bit after saving the princess... that's when my anxiety started 😅
When I heard this music back when I was 5, it never came out of my head. I still know the run/playthrough fom the back of my head. The music timing, I would chant this whenever I'm in a hurry; be it going to the toilet or something else. This and Adventure Island 4 will forever be in my heart and mind.
Fantastic remaster!
The best game bgm arrangement ever!!!
This music was obsessive when I was a kid! Great version
Kudos to you sir, for truly seeing this game through the eyes of its creator.

You can have your Legend of Zeldas, Metroids, Mega Mans, and Mario 3s. THIS is the best NES game, right here.
SparkyDaHedgehog i loved this game too but better than Zelda or Metroid?? Now you're just in your feelings.
Totally agreed! High-intensity ninja action is where it's at.
Such an underrated game. I didn't know it until I saw this video, and it's better than any Nintendo 8 bits francise. It's light years away from what they had back there in the 80's.
My favorite game in NES/Famicon. I only started liking Megaman, Zelda and Mario in SNES.
Youre 100% right! I came from asia and its one of the first famicom titles out.. i was shocked NES had a version of this?!
Been returning to this off and on for years. Always a delight. Thanks.
The FUCK i beat this game so many times it makes me cry... i miss my childhood 😭😭😭
Is she going to die for you as you pretended to die for her ?
Pase días enteros y continuos jugando "The Legend", que buenos tiempos, sin mas preocupaciones que pasar al siguiente nivel jajaja
Jajajjaja
"Kage" successfully saved princess "Kiri" from the enemy.
all the evils disappeared in the peace pervades everywhere.
this was a story of a young ninja in old days in japan ..
however ....
One of the best game theme ❤
Thank you that take me back to my childhood , this music was a bit scary especially when i sneak to play in night
This is beautiful, such a great arrangement. Makes me wish for a remake of this awesome game
It already has one from 2008.
Now this is the use of technology making old things refurbished nicely thanks for this
Come here son an let me tell you a tale of the great ninja war 😮
I had this game on the NES, I loved playing it back then, and I come back to the arcade version too.
Ramp the epicness by x1000
It's The Legend of Kage's BGM that keeps me coming back to play it on the Family Computer/NES when I have the chance, even if I sucked hard at it. This rearrangement is absolute magnificence.
This is totally bad ass man, I'm a musician and I am going to do a version of this song too. This is totally fantastic.
This song has been living in my head rent free for at least 40 years…and I couldn’t remember which nes game it was until now…….THANK YOU 🥹
This is my favorite NES theme, and you made it come alive. Thank you.
AVGN will probably bring some folks here
I’ve played the violin in my orchestra classes back in highschool and hearing the violin play for this is so cool to hear :)
I like the orchestra music for this :)
Nostalgia is *strong* with this one. Kudos to whoever made this remake. This is the good shit
Great arrangement. Hisayoshi Ogura is a legend of videogame music (Arkanoid, The New Zealand Story, The Ninja Warriors..).
The algorithm works in mysterious ways... glad i stumbled upon this tho. I had this game as a kid and this music just takes it to a whole new level. Kudos
1 of my old school favourite game.. i played this during year 1990. Those were the good days!
THIS EXISTS?!?! SINCE WHEN?!?! WHY DO I BARELY KNOW NOW?!?! I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIOOOONS

Legend of Kage! Just amazing!
That's just so beautiful but what a sad ending...
Imagine if they make an arrangement music like this but of Ikki (FC)
I must have listened to this 1000 times!
Glad they added the thunder sound in this as well, the music isn't the same without it.
this music gave me goosebumps
this is awesome what you have started! the main melody for section A was most likely written for a flute (ryuteki, etc) Also, I hear a lot of repeat plucking on the koto. That's more of a chinese thing, and is not very common in Japanese koto usage.
this is actually amazing wtf//?
Before 8 bit era, there was The Legend of Kage ! Played first time on an ancient PC. I call this a 4-bit game 😄
Just wow!!!! Feeling nostalgic
This is amazing. Thank you!
i heard that again this made me cry ...
Before ghost of tsushima and sekiro...there was a legend...legend of the kage
This game had the most insane and legendary composition for a nes game
Damn!!! I so remember owning this game. It was hard as f*ck even with the GameGenie codes. With a Ghost and Goblins effect as to reset the entire game in the same screen you finish it.
Nostalgia at his best.
Just keep swinging the sword using X and moving, it becomes easy as fuck.
some good times right there
Nice music! Best Legend of kage music i have heard! The video is cool to!
--->>>Genious!!!! Thanks for this!!
In childhood this track brought sadness, I did not know why. And only in adulthood I realized. Life is passing quickly.
Yup, it had an epic song.
Lovely
это божественно, прослезился, столько воспоминаний из детства, сидел часами играл, мне казалось что у игры нету конца
Brilliant.
Muy buena este arreglo en la musica!... El juego tambien me encantaba!...
Lindo demais! Saudades!
I just watched avgns episode on this.
This game was (unintentionally) hilarious on the C64. Still, the music was amazing. EVERYONE remembers the C64 music from Legend of Kage.
