@@morgard211 I don't know what you are talking about. I started studying from Neso Academy and find it really interesting. Always wondered, how these communications happen.
the presentation you are doing. it took lot off time to prepare. such a hard you are doing for free course. thank you so much for making these video. it helps me a lot
Today is my exam and I thought that stop and wait protocol is so boring and tough to understand and prayed to god that please don't ask questions about this topic in my exam but after watching your video now I changed my mind and pray to god that please ask at least one question in my exam of 5 or 10 marks. Thank you so much.
4:18 *CORRECTION:* The sliding window does have significance. The erroneous bit is sent AFTER the sender window is empty. It sends the erroneous bit and continues where it left off. Meanwhile the receiver sends NACK of the erroneous bit with every ACK of subsequent bits.
I thought that subject is boring. But no... The fault is not in the subject, but it's in the professor. Thanks for ur effort, so that we can effortlessly write our exams.🙏🙏
actually the fault isn't in subject nor in teacher but in ourselves. if one has interest in any subject, he/she will put efforts to gain knowledge even without a teacher.
@@oggy107 yes but the prof should make the subject interesting while introducing it. A student cannot be interested if the prof can’t explain exactly what’s going on. Something which neso academy does very well.
How does the sliding window slide when frame 2 is not acknowledged? and Why the sender won't send a new packet when frame 3 is acknowledged but wait for frame 4 to be acknowledged to send frame 6? Thank you.
If frame 2 is lost, then receiver window should wait for frame 2, and then when timeout occurs on sender side, it will send frame 2 and then on receiving frame 2 on receiver side, receiver will acknowledge and will slide the window by 4 because 3,4,5 are already stored. On sender side on receiving acknowledge of 2, it will slide the window by 4. Is this correct?
If frame 2 is lost and frame 3,4,5 are received, the receiver window is not moved forward. The reciveer will simply put 3,4,5 in the buffer. When it receives frame 2 , it groups and delivers 2,3,4,5 and moves the window forward by 4 frames ( because a total of 4 frames were delivered).
So from my understanding at 4:10, frames outside the window (like frame 6) can still be sent? Even if the window is waiting for frame 2's acknowledgement to proceed?
What is the concept about negative acknowledgement ? Imagine if the acknowledgement is lost, then does the sender assumes it by default as negative acknowledgement ?
Assume that two computers A and B are connected with 512 Gbps bandwidth. Consider if the distance between the hosts is M metres and the link speed of the medium is 2 x 109 m/s. If Computer A need to send a one- kilobyte packet to Computer B. What is the minimum distance M required such that the propagation delay equals the transmission delay?
Do you know why the hell is my homework asking for the difference in window size between Selective Repeat and Go back N given the same number of bits for sequence number? I don't see why there would be any difference in the window size between the two.
I slept through the entire semester on this subject because I find it boring but you made it interesting, thank you!
networks are boring af :/ gladly I won't have to hear about them if I succeed in the exam

@Shreevatsa Bhat what about mss, I didn't remember a single from that subject.
@Shreevatsa Bhat No that would be software engineering, compiler design, microprocessors and microcontrollers.

The best instructor in neso academy I have seen in this computer networks playlist thanks for this content 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Watched your all videos which are based on protocols. Now, I am crystal clear what actually protocol is 💯

Best video in order to prepare at the time of semester
A great and super concise explanation! Thanks!
JazakAllah for this easy and wonderful lecture on this topic.

Dude, but it has sent for 3, and not for 2. So, as per the sequence num, it sends nack for 2, and the others are normal
Thanks a lot yaar❤.It helps a lot for my semester preparation.

Why didnt you slide the window at all? I thought it would after 5 was ack and frame 7 was sent?

Sir what is the window size in selective repeat
As said in video, there is no significance of window size and only corrupted packet is retransmitted
This is last night before exam and stil half of syllabus is remaining 🥲
Same here
crystal cleaer GBN And Selective repeat
where i can find all these PPT's or the notes for the same
Is Selective Repeat better than Go-Back-N in time performance?

wow so interesting
sliding window is required here bcoz how would one achieve flow control without that, the main objective of this whole thing was flow control

is selective repeat arq the same as selective repeat protocol?
Sequence of packet is not maintained then how would it be efficient,?
i have a doubt, the sender window size and receiver window size is half of the sequence number. so it is 2 . plz clarify this
in the case of selective repeat.

Hi , can someone tell me how the receiver answer by ACK4 before the receiving of frame4 ?!
One doubt..here pack 2 is not acknowledged.
Why doesn't the sender wait for the acknowledgement for the retransmitted packet..?
but it is not in sequence so will it discard the other frames?
Nope
You went to fast on the topic!
