  • I'd like to take this opportunity to show off my favorite Seiko. A NO BULLS***T timepiece that's tough, reliable, accurate and good looking to boot.
    correction: I misspoke, I said "screw lock" crown, I meant "screw down"
    additional info: I forgot to mention the dimensions of the case
    44mm diameter
    19mm lug widths
    47.5mm case length

    This watch is one of the coolest in the world. I am so glad I have one myself and this one together with a seiko bullhead I also own has stilled my hunger for more watches. I cannot understand why people buy modern watches when you can find these beauties from the 60s and 70s for a fairly good price.

      +Leif Bengtsson The one bad thing about modern watches is that they are getting too big. thanks for watching :)

    Thoroughly enjoyed your review. I have the same watch in overhaul. Several movement parts are being replaced, but with original Seiko parts sourced from a large collector in Tokyo

      I think it's great that you found a source of OEM Seiko parts, which parts are you having replaced? thanks for watching my video, I'm very glad you enjoyed it!

    Nice. Had a 6105 years ago, maybe 1970, and never new what became of it.
    Never became aware that they had such a 'cult status' today.

    Thanks for responding. My watchmaker is taking care of the servicing so I do not know the name of the collector in Tokyo, but I will find out and post. I wonder if OEM parts for the particular watch and movement make it a "Frank" piece or not. Also, another interesting note: I bought the watch in Hawaii from a dive instructor a group of us were taking lessons from. He actually had the box and papers. That has to be an extraordinary circumstance for a vintage Seiko.

    • @369168
      @369168  10 років тому

      Robert Blythin In my mind replacing OEM parts with OEM parts does not make the watch a "Franken".

      Robert Blythin You're really fortunate to have the original box and papers. Did he have a waffle strap for you also? That would be incredible if he did

    I believe this watch was favoured by navy seals along with the Benrus 1 and 2 it's so cool.

    • @369168
      @369168  9 років тому

      Joseph Harkness yes, I think the Seals (I think they were still called the UDT's) at the time did use the 6105, and also the 6309 at least according to Whitneys "Military Timepieces"

    Great review !
    Where did you get your fat spring bars for your 6105 ?

    • @369168
      @369168  8 років тому

      +Ibo Chung the spring bars came with the watch. You can readily find these on eBay., or on online vendors of watchmaker tools and supplies. Thanks for watching!

    Great video! If the watch is running at +4 seconds a day, I can only assume this watch has been recently serviced?

    I got my 6105 as a gift back around 1975. When it stopped working some years later, my local jeweler said Seiko couldn't be repaired. I was young and stupid and accepted his word.,it's been in a drawer ever sense. Recently I sent it to Seiko and they say that they can clean and repair it fine but can't guarantee it will be waterproof. Anyone know where I might find someone who CAN do a proper seal job on it? I'm not planning on diving, but would like to be able to wear it in the rain and around water without worrying about getting water in.

      About 2 years ago I actually got a waffle strap (my 2nd one...the first one was poor quality and broke) from a Canadian (?) dealer. On the surface it looks like the OEM strap but I'm sure there are some subtle differences. thanks for watching
