Top!. Always interesting videos, tnks George.
Thanks man!
Nice video! Thanks!
You’re welcome man!
Thanks for another great video George. When I overhauled my cooling system and changed my coolant I also replaced the red radiator drain plug and the O ring for the sensor that fits into the bottom hose. The O ring did not come with the hose and I had to purchase it separately. This O ring is a common failure point I heard.
Cheers Mark, I’ll keep an eye on things!
Thank you brother good 👍
Awesome video!
Cheers mate
Good stuff, George. Coolant systems are so often neglected.
Definitely! I know people who have never changed coolant in 10-20 years
This channel is so underated
🙏🏼
Thanks for explaining, was thinking about how to do it lately. Wouldn't it be possible to blow compressed air into the system? To force everything out.
Looks like I got a fuel leak from the fuel pipe on the passenger side. You think it has a quick disconnect fitting inside the plastic holder?
The coolant that came out did not look too bad although it was only like 40 percent coolant. That engine looks clean.
Yeah always best to do a full flush!
Did this last week. Previous owner put some green garabge in it. I bought my coolant from dealer as it was the cheapest option around. $23 for a US gallon.
👍🏻
If your coolant is clear to start with, you really don't need to flush the system 5 times. It won't make any difference at all. Just make sure that whenever you add coolant, it is always pre-mixed at 50/50. In this video you are just wasting fuel.
Also I'm not familiar with this particular BMW engine, but there may be some bleed screws somewhere on the engine to allow air to escape while filling the system.
It wasn’t clear to begin with, still had coolant in👍🏻
@@GeorgeAusters clear meaning no contamination
You're not just flushing to remove contamination, it's flushing to remove the old coolant as it breaks down over years
How come you didn't use ISTA? It has a coolant flush setting right?
Wouldn't it been easier to put hosepipe in expansion tank with engine running and leave stopcock of radiator
Brilliant !
Not a bad idea but not always possible for everyone👍🏻
@@GeorgeAusters Why that?
@@rich5223 Maybe some people live in tower blocks?
🙌🏼
❤️
OK I'm new to bmws infact I only bought a 1 series yesterday what I don't understand is you can check the level of coolant ok but for all I know it could just be water in the expansion tank as its black not clear like other cars?????
Shine a light and you should be able to see
@@GeorgeAusters thanks for your reply I will check tomorrow I have I don't suppose you would know what engine is in my car it's an 05 plate 118d 5 door
I have an e66 7 series with 4.0 cc V8 , i don't know how many total litres of anti freeze and distilled water is required 50:50 , could u tell me overall how much my e66 4.0 V8 coolant is required?
I'd say around 15L total
@@GeorgeAusters thanks for the reply 👍
Thanks George, this was helpful. I have an F20 with the B47 engine and the cooling system doesn't appear to have a drain plug. Would you recommend removing the lowest coolant hose on the rad as an alternative? Also heard that due to the EGR cooler being mounted high up it needs to be vaccum filled, what are your thoughts?
Yep it’s because it’s yet another thing that BMW are saying is good for life. Yes I’d remove a lower coolant hose👍🏻
🤙👌
I thought the engine must be cold when draining the coolant 🤔 can you please explain
Who said that?
@@GeorgeAustersthat's what every mechanic said whenever I wanted to change the coolant. They said the engine block can crack because of the the quick temperature change. Don't get me wrong I'm about to do a coolant flush at home and that's how I found this video and I was surprised that you change it with warm engine
Why you sharing 7 series videos in a E60 group? Get a real job
This method of coolant flushing is applicable to all BMWs, hope that helps you understand. Also this is a real job👍🏻
Why are you trolling? Easy solution: Don’t watch. The rest of us appreciate this content. Also, psychiatric help is available.
@@jonathanowen6147 Completely agree with you. The videos are fantastic.
Where does it say it’s an E60 group?
@@robbieshaft not on UA-cam. He’s always posting his videos on different BMW Groups on Facebook, that has nothing to do with that model
