A truly interesting experience. Met with inmates who were very happy to talk and freely discuss any questions we asked. We feel it is beneficial for people to visit and purchase from their shop as all funds go towards helping the Rehabilitation of the prisoners. Is this somewhere you would visit? Comment below.
there's a lot of local action movies that's made there in 70s and 80s.the storyline are that major casts in the movie are always being caught and imprisoned coz of their involvement to the gangs, robbed some banks or killed people from another gang.its because many guns proliferated in the philippines when the americans left the country after ww2.and gangs suddenly appear throughout metro manila and cebu, and were being portrayed in the movies as cool.i used to watch a lot of those movies when i was a kid after the school classes together with my other siblings and my dad and during weekends.
Thanks for showing us what prison is like in Palawan. Am impressed how these prisoners seemed well behaved. Filipino’s good nature in welcoming guests are extended even by offenders. You got me subscribing and I surely will share this video. Thank you.
I feel that would be beneficial as it would incourage more people to buy from their souvenir shop, helping to fund more rehabilitation for the inmates.

I am an American living in Puerto Princesa for several years. I have visited Iwahig twice. There is a river running through there with a nice swimming hole you can visit. There, a prisoner caught and killed a wild chicken and cooked it for me. Also, near the entrance I saw a young man catch a python snake. I do not know if he was a prisoner or not. Also interesting is the architecture of some of the building inside Iwahig Prison done in "American Colonial" style. I could see some engravings on the buildings saying something about being part of "The Commonwealth" of the USA. They made an attempt to remove those engravings after they got their independence. Just some history to be seen. Another bit of history to be seen is a small park next to the Cathedral in down town Puerto Princesa. During WWII, as the US was approaching Palawan Island, the Japanese forced American POWs into a tunnel in that park, poured gasoline on them and set them on fire. However, one POW escaped and later wrote a book about it. And... next to "the old airport terminal " there is a very interesting museum containing items showing Palawan's experiences while under the Japanese rule during WWII. Fascinating place.

I do not think the prisoner you asked said the truth of his case because I read in the news that those who are imprisoned possess and intend to sell so much number of kilos of marijuana and not one only.
May all the prisoners will come to know accept the Lord Jesus Christ in your life so that you will completely received forgiveness and freedom and liverty. Hindi man kyo, makalabas jan ngunit kyo pinalaya na ng Panginoon Jesus, sa gapos ng kasalanan sapagka't Siya ay namatay sa krus para sa atin lahat. God bless us all!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Amazing thank you 😊
SINCE YOURE IN PALAWAN AND YOU ARE BRAVE ENOUGH, GO TO CULION ISLAND, ONCE THE LARGEST LEPER COLONY IN THE WORLD EVEN BIGGER THAN MOLOKAI IN HAWAII, THEY HAVE A MUSEUM THERE, LEPROSY HAS BEEN ERADICATED SINCE,BUT IT STILL EXIST, ITS THE AMERICANS WHO ESTABLISHED THAT PLACE DURING THERE COLONIZATION😊
Unfortunately we have left palawan now, otherwise we would have if we had known
Those prisoners still lying though.. they dont tell their true reason why they in prison
The title is a click bait. Wise.
The title should have been "We visited ......." . Nowadays, vloggers are more on click bait tactic for more views and therefore revenue. But once i realize i am watching a click bait, i don't finish watching the video, because i felt deceived.
Thanks for your idea. We tey not to make the title too click bate but also want enough to draw people to watch the video. The hardest part is getting someone the click on the video
Well, they indeed spent time in prison...did they?
@@Rkbackpacking Thank you for admitting deceiver.
@@Jesus-The-Everlasting-Father I agree, the title could be a “click bait” but at the same time it’s also correct because they indeed literally “spent time” in there it’s not just what we thought. I also appreciate their reason for using such title. At least they are being honest for not denying the “click bait” bit.
Are you sure guys you are not ICC secret investigators? 😂😂 Just kidding.
Oh, speak slowly - Filipinos used to hear American accent 😅😅😅 not the English accent
Yeah we do try 😅
@Rkbackpacking communications in the Philippines in English, at least conversational compared to other countries.
More and more blokes from UK - AUSTRALIA n New Zealand coming to the Philippines, and they will get use of your beautiful English accent. For now, be patient.
We actually found it very easy to understand everyone as their English is all very good
it's not true that you get life imprisonment for a stick of marijuana. you have to have in your possession an amount that is deemed as commercial and not personal use (which means you must be a drug dealer).
It's true in the Philippines.
Perhaps the guy caught with marijuana worth 100 kgs that is why he spent lifetime imprisonment...not a single stick it is ridiculous..
Cannabis in the Philippines
Under the current law, the importation, sale, maintenance of a den, dive or resort, manufacture, use, and cultivation of marijuana and marijuana-related products shall be met with life imprisonment and a fine.

@@boyinglabro7082it's also impossible that the reason of his imprisonment is only marijuana.. for sure there is other reason. He still lying.. sinners, addicts, are liers, liers still liers
gumagamit ba kayo ng marijuana? bakit parang affected na affected kayo pag sinabing life imprisonment? mas mabuti nga yun para matakot naman ang mga adik haha 😅
For marijuana? We need reform!
1 stick of ganja = 1 sack.
Marijuana and it is life imprisonment; that is crazy. How much marijuana they got from this guy for getting life imprisonment.
He said 1 "stick", whether that means one already rolled or a whole tree, we weren't sure
It's actually reclution perpetua which means minimum 12yrs with a maximum of 20 to 25yrs of imprisonment, it's just called life imprisonment their because they will already be old when they get out
I think he is lying, it's impossible if it's only because of marijuana, ofcourse he is also a drug dealer, drug pusher, like shabu, etc. .. you know lier is always a lier..
@@Rkbackpackinghe is lying though.. I can't believe him.. you know lier is always a lier.. he probably caught many times.. he is probably also a drug dealer, drug pusher, and drug user,
