NEW Alfa Romeo Tonale 2022 static review: an SUV with an NFT?!

- The Tonale will go up against the likes of the Audi Q3 and BMW X1 later this year. Will striking looks, hybrid engines and blockchain tech be enough to win buyers over?
Let's start off with the design, because the Tonale is a real looking. The SUV takes inspiration from Alfa Romeo classics such as the SZ, including the trio of lights at either side of the car and the low brow of the bonnet. The Scudetto grille is also separate to the front bumper, too, meaning it sits more prominently. All engines available in the UK at launch will be hybrid, including a 275hp plug-in hybrid that Alfa claims will cover up to 50 miles on electric power along, or 37 miles on a combined cycle. Couple that with a fresh interior with an all-new infotainment system, and the Italian marque looks as though it's got a strong contender on its hands.

I own the base 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia and two things I don't like about it:
1) Steering is too light
2) The power delivery is like a rubber band - first you step on the gas, then it hesitates before pulling forward.
If Alfa fixes these for the Tonale, that would be perfect.
italian cars always had light and very precise steering, sure not all people on this planet likes it but its considered the best steering.
the gas problem is more a ,,modern turbo engine thing". A lot of ,,base" cars have this.

The 2nd part is fixed on the 2019 and later transmissions... Was on a business trip with a newer model, and went to the dealer after that because my transmission feels completely different on the lower "get of the line speeds".... However they said... Normal on earlyer cars....
I do think that most likely the oil in the torgue converter has been changed... But I could not find any evidence to it.
this is such a smart perfect looking SUV i hav ever seen ! wish i could buy one ! and i really hope they will do some development on the seatbelts, coz still need to use 2 hands to pull it and buckle up the seat belts ! it is old and boring ! when will it be automatic ? or Buckling up automatically !

I was in love with my Giulia and Alfa Romeo as a brand, however, I will never again buy/recommend another Alfa Romeo in my life. I had the brake by wire system fail on me and it caused me to crash and total the car. They sent someone from Bosch to diagnose the vehicle and in the charts it clearly showed that something malfunctioned (brakes were slammed 2 seconds before the impact at 40 MPH and it took more than 1.5 seconds for the speed to start going down.) Stellantis told me that they were not going to take responsibility for it and that I needed to have my insurance pay for the vehicle. Absolute garbage. I will never recommend this car brand to anyone again! Buy an AUDI, BMW or Mercedes instead.

That's too bad. I've had my Giulia for nearly four years and it's been nothing but sheer bliss and no issues whatsoever.
And LOL for thinking that the Big Three of Germany don't have issues.
@@Natethegreat200c I had an Audi that was no longer under warranty for about 300 miles, and they went ahead and fixed it for me free of charge anyways. Heard similar things with the other brands I mentioned. I have a buddy who owns a Hyundai that had a recall for its motor years ago, but he didn't know about it. Motor messed up, and they went ahead and honored the recall anyways! That's great service! alfa on the other hand, they don't give a damn about their customers.

I've had 2 Audi's, 1 Mercedes, and 1 BMW. No problems ever! Even after the 100k mile mark. Most likely because they don't use that terrible brake by wire crap.
Bit disappointed really - looks quite dated and there’s not a lot of interesting detail on it, it’s plain.
Looks awesome and elegant versus over stylized lines. Different tastes and I can understand the appeal of more stylized designs but I'm all for simple lines. They tend to age better too.

@@JB-zu5gb I'm not at all a fan of CUV/SUV crap but it's a nice looking car. Simple, elegant design instead of the hideous 13-year old Pokemon fan designs from Japanese cars.
