Aimee always has a unique approach musically. This is almost a total departure from her days with "Til Tuesday" back in the early 80's. She's very creative and I love her music.
Aimee Mann is such a fantastic and unique songwriter. I heard "That's Just What You Are" on a college radio station in 1995 and was so taken by the song that I purchased the CD - something I never did based on a single song. And in doing so I discovered a treasure of great and original melodies. Why she was not more well known than the other female artists of the era of "I'm with Stupid" who frequented the airwaves mystifies me. As a result many music lovers have missed out on in my view one of the best songwriters of the 90's and 2000's. Just looking above at 154-1 Likes, one songwriter must have been jealous of her originality.
Aimee is woefully underrated. I have followed her since her Berklee Days in Boston. "Whatever" and "I'm With Stupid" are easily two of THE best CD's of the 90's, and "Lost In Space" is her artistic cohesive masterpiece. Love her!
At 0:15 the key jumps a major third from F minor to A minor. Surprising (some might say shocking) jumps by a third were similarly used to great effect in pieces like Steely Dan's "Through with Buzz" and the Beach Boys' "Don't hurt my little sister".
I would have loved to share this, but it won't let me, don't understand that my favorite amy Mann song it was featured in two movies, Sliding door, and Picture perfect, with Jennifer Aniston, love this song but hard to find, I suppose You tube has new rules now.
I loved the movie, "Sliding Door", there is more truth to that, many say we are living in millions of realities at once, those were just two...song is great.
I love this song, so excited to hear her sing it tonight at Revolution Hall in PDX.
What a tune. It makes me so happy that the humble artists are still out there doing their thing xx

It fits those down and blah moments. Though I have to admit it was Sliding doors that brought my here. Cute movie, beautiful song.
One of my fave songs still till this day
I wish I knew more of her music 🎶 ....In any case this meandering, melancholy songs is special and unique, resonating listen after listen.
Aimee and Jon Brion obviously channeled composer genius Burt Bacharach here, and triumphantly, I might add. Brilliant song.
Aimee's best song!
I especially love the piano part.
Sliding Doors ❤🎶
First heard this on Picture Perfect and loved it :) Also recognise her voice from You Could Make A Killin on Cruel Intentions. Really good singer.
I first heard it on Picture Perfect too and then again on Sliding Doors. It such a beautiful song.
Smooth tune.

Haha I had the TV on for background noise and heard the music. I had to turn around, look up the name of the movie, and find this song.
