    Video Introduction:
In 1956, when former British prime minister clement Atlee visited India, the then governor of Bengal ask him one important question! He asked that after the quit India movement subsided in 1942, there were no significant freedom movements in India, then inspite of having the opportunity to rule India why did they leave? To which clement Atlee said, that the role played by Netaji’s army was paramount in India being granted independence while the role played by the non-violent movement was dismissed as minimal. This statement itself is enough to question the version of history taught in our schools and colleagues! People as much we are taught about legends like Mahatma Gandhi and the significant contribution of the Satya Grah movement, we knowingly or unknowingly not taught about the SIGNIFICANT sacrifices made by Netaji and his Azaad Hind Fauj! In this episode we cover all of this in detail.
Update: Modiji announced that Subash Chandra Bose statue to installed at India Gate.

      I have a few questions....
1] we know that the history we are taught was crafted by the British to make Indians forget their own history,..but why was this history changed when we had the opportunity i.e. after independence?
2] Are you going to expand your range of topics like history and politics?
3]why did Gandhi backed certain people at congress?

He never found a place in our text books, which only mentions his name in one corner of the page, neither did he find the recognition and respect he deserves. This is not how we treat a true legend. My grandfather was part of the azad hind fauj and he had gone to fight in the 2nd world war against British. After the world war they were made prisoners in Burma. Indian government didn't take initiative to get them released. Later they were released at a very old age in his late 70's. He came walking from Burma to kerala his home . Government did not give any pension. No recognition. On the contrary all his ancestral land was encroached. I never knew about this from my school . It was only later I came to know.
Coming to the strategy used by the British. The British knew that they would have to leave India either due to gandhi or bose. But through gandhi they could delay the independence. That is the reason that Britishers would listen to gandhi's demands and used to treat bose as a criminal. As gandhi could negotiate with the britishers on behalf of the Indians, the masses used to consider him as a greater leader. This strategy is generally seen in office politics used by some bosses.

Excellent video. There is one error, however. The Japanese Army did not start the INA. They kept Indian Soldiers as POWs. Rashbehari Bose who was in Japan had excellent connections with the Japanese Govt and he had formed the INA in Singapore. He handed over charge of INA to Subhash Chandra Bose because he believed that Subhash was an able leader. In fact, Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das had advised Netaji to meet Rashbehari Bose. When Netaji took over INA from Rashbehari Bose, he convinced the Japanese leaders to release the Indian soldiers for INA to fight the British. Rest is History.

A bangladeshi here, I was one of the lucky one's in the subcontinent to learn about Netaji from my childhood. I am so glad that you have created this content and I am very emotional to see the overwhelming love for Netaji in the comment section. Netaji was the real architect of our independence from colonialism. I think India, Pakistan and Bangladesh should study our history way more deeply then we currently do. The people and parties in power are shills of our colonial past. That's why they still paddle the constitutions that were designed by the british, they paddle us histories and propagandas to turn us against each other and that's why we are still one of the weakest and underperforming region of the world at large. Just like in the colonial times, we are still being oppressed by the police that is exclusively funded with our tax money, we are being silenced and our rights are not even constitutionally vetted. We fight with each other over petty issues(designed by the British) and ask the west to mediate the squabbles. Who are they to judge us? They're the ones who looted our motherland for 200 years for over 45 trillion US dollars! Why should we care or ask for their opinions on our internal conflicts?
Secularism, a proper study of the collective common history and a call to unity of the subcontinent will be the key to our true freedom.

You speak the truth and yes that is the only way out, we can become the golden bird again if we let go of the illusion of fear. Sadly both you and I know it is not possible due our population and politics. Only way is to merge illegally by creating a 3rd body which consist of the common people of the subcontinent, just like pre-Independance. To create an Azaad Bharat we must first unite, if that can ever be possible it is now in the age of technology. Back then it used to be called freedom movement, now unification movement. We were always one and always will be.

Indian constitution was not made by the British. Mr. Roy and Mr. Ambedkar prepared Indian Constitution post independence and that too after detailed study of the Constitutions across the world and comparing and studying them. Indian Constitution is a unique document. If you read it, you'll understand there is nothing that the British put in it. The basic Articles of Indian Constitution are all made exclusively for us. It is not made by the British. And India also doesn't go running to the west to solve her issues. We deal with our issues ourselves. Hear the interviews of our External Affairs Minister. We have categorically said we don't need lecturing from the west. Please don't put pakistan and Bangladesh in the same footing as present India. Priorities and difficulties of each country are unique to her own.

Also just a small correction Gandhiji jumped on complete independence train a bit late, it was others like Netaji and Shaheed Bhagat Singh who demanded or floated the idea of full independence, which Gandhiji later went with. Also on side note beautiful images Netaji had such bright and intelligent eyes to go with a kind smile. If he wanted he could have lived his life in full comfort and luxury which only few Indians could afford in those days but he chose his way which was multifold harder and ultimately lead to his untimely demise. We Indians should take inspiration from such legacies and strive to make our country better then just looking for greener pastures and opportunities. Jai Hind.

Thanks for this wonderful Video !!
I am from Bengal and even today if somebody says that he's alive and has arrived - I will run to see him - forgetting all my common sense that a man can't be alive for 125 years !!
I also travel to Cuttack frequently [ his birthplace in Odhisa] and feels so nice to see that even a very narrow By Lane of Cuttack carries a Statue / Bust / Photograph of Netaji [ and very very nicely maintained ] - I think he’s still living in the heart of so many Indians - beyond the Text Book era.
Thanks again for presenting it so nicely !!

What a man! So proud he was an Indian. We need so many more Netajis even now who have such a deep sense of nationality and oneness. We Indians need to stay united and sharpen our skills to become world leaders. I can truly envision a day when that will be a reality. Being a Bengali, we were told about him and his bravery from a very young age. I'm so happy he is finally getting his due. He and Vallabh bhai Patel needed much more recognition for what they did for our motherland. I grew up in Mumbai where in school, we were only taught about Naval fight and Gandhi, Nehru. In school we weren't taught these details. It is only because of my elders at home that I learnt what a great man he truly was.

This video has brought me to tears. The way the INC treated the INA and its humongous efforts to get us freedom is shocking . I studied in ICSE board and I have never heard of something called Red Fort trial .Netaji's contribution to our freedom is as much big as Gandhiji's contribution was , if not bigger .This makes much more sense as to why they suddenly in 1946 promised us freedom . Gandhiji's actions were irritating , but Netaji's actions caught the British where it hurt .And yet , in our nation , he is sadly not given the respect and acknowledgement that he deserves. I doubt the British would have given us freedom if the revolt of Army and Navy had not happened , brought to life by the actions of Netaji. Makes me wonder if our textbooks and the narrative taught is tilted more in favour of the non violence believers than that of extremists whom we are told in a way were rebels and non inspirational people who didn't understand the goodness of non violence .Thank you Thinkschool for this video .It has thrown light on another POV .Well done and keep doing such interesting videos.
