I just came across your channel by chance and already loving it. Looks like you're putting even more effort into restoring the XJ-S than I am. Just overhauling the IRS at my Series 1 and was browsing YT. You were choosing KYBs and Brembo disks. So did I. Okay, time for me to watch the other videos. Cheers, Christian

Great video - thanks. I'll be embarking on this task on my 1989 v12 at some point. I've already rebuilt the front suspension, however am finding the idea of removing & stripping the IRS very daunting!

Hi - thanks for watching! Coincidentally, I've got the front to do this coming winter!
I was daunted by the IRS as it's a big chunk of engineering and looks complicated. In reality though, it's not that bad. It's easy to disconnect everything and drop the assembly on a jack, and then dismantling is only complicated by the overall weight of the parts.
Feel free to get in touch when you're doing the job if you want any help, the most useful advice I can give you is probably to check the location of shims between the diff and the cast mounting brackets that attach it to the bottom plate. Mine had one only and I had to remember which bolt it came from.
Also, it's helpful to keep the various parts from either side separate - I just used different coloured cable ties for L and R - the most critical parts to recover and not get mixed up are the shims that go between the driveshafts and brake discs and also behind the brake discs.
I found the XJS OCD channel here on UA-cam very useful to see how someone else reassembled the IRS and used his trick of buying a spare inner fulcrum shaft, cut into 4 pieces when reassembling the inner fulcrums.
      Good luck with it!
