Why this video has so few views? It deserves much more. Among loads of front lever tutorial you managed to make not typical and high-quality one. Worth recommending, congrats!
Thank you so much Jakub, that's a huge compliment! I'm really glad you enjoyed it and found it useful. Soon the word will spread and the channel will grow for sure ^_^. Thanks again!
these videos are perfect. I can get into adv tuck hold but was looking for different exercises i can use to mix it up a bit whilst focussing on the same muscles instead of just doing holds every time. Thanks a lot!
For the longest time I was stuck at adv. Tuck but I started using ankle weights and dragon flags with weight and boom 2 months later I got a straddle lever for 8 secs
Great video and well explained. Strangely, I never trained the progressions, ie. tucked lever, advance tuck, one leg etc I trained mainly scapula pull ups and weighted pull ups. Never attempted the front lever until a couple of weeks ago and to my surprise, I managed to hold one for 3 seconds. So for those trying to get their first full front lever, practice more pull ups, especially scapula and weighted. You will see a big difference!!
Well done Dom, congrats! :D You're definitely one of the lucky few who can just beast out a front lever without training the progressions. You're right, doing scapula-specific exercises and weighted pull ups will help to build the strength for the front lever. But in my experience, these alone won't work for most people (I was one of these people myself hahaha). It's such a specific position to hold and requires such specific strength that most people will have to go through the progressions to learn it. If you're reading this and you're learning the front lever, it's EXCEPTIONALLY RARE that you will be able to hold the front lever without practising the specific progressions. I've never seen this in person, and I've only ever heard of it twice (you're the second person I've heard say they could hold it without training the progressions, Dom). I would strongly recommend learning the front lever progressions to learn the front lever. Nonetheless, well done for getting yours Dom :D wish you the best progress and happy training!
Yes agreed. I think I will have to go back through the progressions in order to increase the length of hold. Even though I’ve managed to get a full FL I’ve not been able to improve on the hold time at all and can not manage anything beyond 3 secs, probably because there’s not enough time under tension to see significant gains.
Great tutorial with clear instructions and demonstration. Beautiful arrow straight form . I'm 65 years old and have trained this for more a month, really tough especially for my age. Great tip on how to keep the back straight. (that's my weakness) Some said you need to be able to do pull up of more than 150 % of your weight to start training for front lever. I could only barely do one rep at 150% of my weight. I should train more on weight pull up? Do you think it's a prerequisite? Thanks Mike
Hey Mike, thanks so much! No, I don't think this is a prerequisite. In fact, it's a total myth - and it's false. That's the thing that frustrates me - there's SO much rubbish out there on youtube. Don't worry, you don't have to do that. The main thing to achieving the front lever is consistency. Be consistent (whilst being safe) and you'll get it! Good luck!
Great video. I’ve been training to hold the front lever for months now. I can do 6 ‘ ice cream makers ‘ for reps and hold my legs out with my knees pointed down for tens seconds. I feel like holding your legs straight out definitely hits your core but I also feel like it puts a lot of stress on your quads as well! Correct me if I’m wrong. 😅
Hello brother! How are you. I do not know English, only Spanish. But I used the translator because I really want you to know that I loved your video. I can do 8-10 strict pull-ups, but I still don't have any muscle up. Not even the rocking one and knees to the chest. Do you recommend that I start training front lever? With the tuck front lever? Or do you recommend me to gain more strength in my back and get muscle up? Greetings, I hope your answer, and that this has been translated well and that you have understood haha

Best guidance and beautifully executed demonstration. I have 1 question (out of curiosity and not doubting your tutorial).I didn’t see you include the half lay. Do you think it’s not effective? Thanks
Hey thanks man! I didn't include it because I didn't use it the first time I learned the front lever. HOWEVER, I actually DO recommend it (now that I've learned the front lever twice). It's the hardest front lever progression but also one of the best, because it really forces you to push your hips up (which is crucial for the front lever). So yes, I recommend it
@@AshtonFitness Thank you very much! Still your front lever tutorial is one of the best out there (and your form is impeccable!) I following it now. Yes I have problem to keep my butt up!😟
Really; I love this video.. but my question after watching all tutorials in the past 3 weeks (since I started my FL journey) still is: what about the Push and Leg muscles, how do you incorporate them and still do Front Lever exercises 3xs a week?? Or should I just do Pull and Core sets until I get the FL?
Depends on you bro. Just listen to your body. Don't train the same muscle groups if they're still aching from the previous session (or you risk injury). Good luck!
Thanks Arby! You're right, they're not completely straight. That's something I'll definitely work on for the future. But you can definitely get it, you've just got to be patient and enjoy the process! One arm pull ups aren't really reliant on scapula strength, so that does not prove you have a strong scapula. In my experience, training the scapula directly does help. Also training the lats and core helps a lot.
