Ok, you told us the kawi horsepower number but not the Honda’s hp #. 72 peak for torque monster kawi 500! I’m guessing since the CR 500 HP was not mentioned is because it was probably significantly lower. My guess would be 62 hp. For the CR. Just a guess. I think they are around 50 hp stock depending on the year. I had a 1986 cr500 and it was an absolute monster, loved that bike. Thanks for the video, and with just the pure 2 stoke sound. WadeWoods stock the Cr on the dyno we use makes 45hp and 45ftlbs. The MRE bike in this shootout is mine, this engine package normally makes 65hp and 65ft/lbs however I’ve done some further improvements here which I didn’t dyno test but certainly added to power, performance and delivery. The 72hp number is NOT the KX’s HP! I’d given that number to the guys after our shootout while we were talking about the BRC engine I’m involved with.

My buddy, Brock, who is one of the main builders of timbersled bikes in northern Utah, says a 500 two stroke has two many problems: 1. with jetting needing constant changing for temperature and elevation changes. 2. Maico makes a 700cc two stroke
Why would you use a 250 frame, instead of a 450? They're not 125s...
Brc makes a kit for 2007+ ktm 2 strokes
Those billet cases....
Whats the hp?
Please try and do a Suzuki 500 2 stroke
Classic, we want to ensure we get bikes in the future so we won’t declare a “winner”.
It’s called lap times...
Give that kx500 to Tomac
Why 500cc Two Stroke?....HP/Weight.... I have owned: 1972 RT2 360 MX; 1975 YZ-360 B; 1977 YZ-400 D; and 1978 YZ-400 E...wish I had kept one of them....especially the YZ-360 B....of course, thumpers are fun too...they all have two-wheels!
So now, how about a 4 man race: 500's vs. 450 4-stroke counterparts?
How many hp does the cr have?
Dexter Hoenhause the engine combination there has proven to deliver 65hp and 65ft/lbs in the past, this one has some further refinements but I didn’t run it on the Dyno.
The HP number given for the KTX was a number I provided while talking about the BRC engine, No HP numbers were given for my bike or the KX Guru ride.
@@500bigbore I have 2000 cr500 with a pwk 38mm air striker, msv manifold, msv water pump, fmf gnarly exhaust, procircuit 304 silencer not the shorty and twin air filter, what power would you say mine is making? It's still on the stock piston from 2000 believe it or not I just got the bike a few months ago and have completed redone it besides the engine since it is such a low hour bike.
It says shooout on the thumbnail
@8:23 u can pause and just smile😁
Has anyone ever put a banshee engine in a dirt bike and race it 🤔
How bout Kroc test the KTR while Tomac test the KTX
gosh, no Cagiva. not a truly complete comparison report.
TheHypnotstCollector When I was in the paint and body business 29 years ago, a Sikkens paint rep who called on our shop always talked about the Cagiva he rode in the 80s. You would have thought he was an unpaid rep for the motorcycle manufacturer instead of the automotive paint he pushed! Thanks for bringing up the brand.
@@graysinclair6572 The Motocross Vault just did a Cagiva 125 video. watch?v=DcoQcTzonVk
@@TheHypnotstCollector Thanks.🤙
KTM needs to redesign and issue their KTM550 again. Might as well make the open class OPEN again. Fuck four strokes.
Someone needs to put a KTM 500 2 stoke motor in an updated bike. I’m guessing with the drive sprocket and kicker being on opposite sides creates a bit of a problem! Would love to see all the big bore 2 stroke motors put into new chassis’s for a shootout!
@Yeah Nah 20hp? Not sure I follow your maths.
My 50cc smokes em all
Why not do the kit for the Ktm to make them 500 not Honda on a Ktm frame
So the kx is for pro's and the cr is for your average guy
🤔Shooout??
Aren't a lot of today's KTM and Husky's made with steel frames?
Why not the honda
Must not have done much on the inside of that cr500 engine otherwise it would have made way more power honda are know to make the most power and have the most gnarly power band
i need that ktx with 10 more horse and slap my timbersled on it
My buddy, Brock, who is one of the main builders of timbersled bikes in northern Utah, says a 500 two stroke has two many problems:
1. with jetting needing constant changing for temperature and elevation changes. 2. The problem with kick starting. The snow is soft so it takes 6 inches or more to touch solid ground.
That said, I love snow bikes and the timbersled set up. It's so much fun and I think everyone should give it a try.
@@justincoats7236 it was electric start lol
@@joel387ktm true, I'm hoping Polaris or one of the manufacturers builds a timbersled from the ground up. Snowhawk tried but went bankrupt. They could put a 600cc motor in it with better engineering. I just like to see cool stuff.
This kid just said if you've never ridden a 500 2stroke don't start now.....fk that!! Try it, they are greaaaaat fun! Especially with the new crap they can punt on them these days, sorry bud, but I don't agree with you!
