Longines and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) were proud to celebrate the 2020 Longines World Racing Awards. Hosted by ITV Racing’s Francesca Cumani, the ceremony honoured Authentic as runner-up in the Longines World’s Best Racehorse rankings, the Juddmonte International Stakes as the Longines World’s Best Horse Race and Frankie Dettori as the Longines World’s Best Jockey of the 2020 thoroughbred horse racing season.

Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez piloted Authentic to a decisive gate-to-wire score in the 2020 Breeders' Cup Longines Classic (G1) at Keeneland.
Repelling his rivals like a veteran twice his age, Authentic became the first Kentucky Derby (G1) champion to win the Classic since American Pharoah sealed the deal over this same course and distance in 2015.
Improbable's failed bid still resulted in a strong runner-up effort over Global Campaign, who dove to the rail in mid-stretch but failed to gain on the eventual winner.
Tacitus took fourth over Maximum Security and Tiz the Law by a nose and a head, respectively.
Behind them came Title Ready, By My Standards, Tom's d'Etat, and Higher Power to complete the order of finish.
Authentic's win was a return to form after Swiss Skydiver defeated him in the Preakness Stakes (G1). The Into Mischief colt, purchased for $350,000 as a yearling, has now earned $6,191,200 USD for co-owners Spendthrift Farm, MyRacehorse.com, Madaket Stables, and Starlight Racing.

He got beat by a filly.. so what? That's a pretty misogynistic comment with no base in reality. Only in the US are races between gender so segregated. In the rest of the world this is normal. Get over it.

@@SnidgetAsphodel Except he raced in the US where it's actually a thing, so your point is moot. The two big races he won, Kentucky Derby had only two other G1 quality horses in Honor AP and Tiz the Law, the rest of the field was Grade 3 quality at best, and the BCC was on one of the biggest speed bias tracks in recent memory where he was the lone speed. Not saying he's a bad horse but to say he was #2 in the world in 2020 is laughable Extremely overrated.
