What do the drivers use in the van for this routing software, e.g., their personal phone, company phone, company tablet? If it's a tablet, is it mounted?
All of the above. At our laundromat, we use mounted tablets (tablet is removable). The bigger screen makes it easier to look at the map, find what you need, and get your eyes back on the road.
Most of our clients are using phones. We optimized the drivers' screens so it looks great on both tablets and phones. One advantage of the phone is it is easier to call or text, where on the tablet, you need to install special software to accomplish that (Voice over IP). Also, it's best to use company phones, because if you do call or text (and you will), your drivers don't want to get calls when they're not working.. So if you have company phones that your drivers can check out, then it ensures that that phone number is only used for business. And calls aren't getting routed to your drivers' personal cell phone
Would a barcode/scanner system work with this software? For example, scanning a barcode at a specific washer to update in the system that the order has moved from washer to dryer etc. Thanks!
Sorry about the late reply, just saw your message. We are adding bar code scanning for over the counter items, that should be coming out soon.
Regarding scanning washers & dyers, we make it easy to tap (on a tablet) the washing machine #. We are looking at integration with different card payment systems to have their system update our software to track & connect machine use to the specific order number.
Keeping track of the washers to each order is key to reducing fraud and making sure that your attendants are not running a side business or doing personal laundry during work hours.
