  • Tampa and its surrounding cities have been experiencing significant growth and transformation over the past decade. Today, I’m excited to share details on some of the most exciting projects on the horizon!
I’ve been in Tampa for 25 years in Tampa & I've seen it evolve from an unpolished diamond to a vibrant city. Over the last decade, and especially in the past five years, the pace of development has been remarkable.
Here are the top 5 projects poised to shape the Tampa Bay Area: *Note: Details may change as these projects progress.
Project #1: Pasco County - A Medical Mecca Pasco County, north of Tampa, is transforming into a hub for medical and life sciences. Highlights include:
-Angeline: A 6,200-acre mixed-use development anchored by Moffitt Cancer Center’s 775-acre Medical City, Spyros.
-Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital: New Hospital situated on 114 acres near Wesley Chapel, opening in 2028.
-Orlando Medical’s New Hospital: A new 300-bed facility in Wesley Chapel.
Double Branch Development: Focused on industrial and life sciences, with 2.5M sqft in Phase I.
Project #2: Downtown St. Pete - Tropicana Field Home to the Tampa Bay Rays, the 86-acre Tropicana Field site will be redeveloped into a mixed-use area featuring housing, entertainment, offices, hotels, and more. This project aims to enhance the already vibrant downtown St. Pete.
Project #3: Westshore Plaza Redevelopment Located just south of Tampa’s airport, the 53-acre Westshore Plaza will be transformed into a mixed-use space with 900,000 sqft of retail, 1700 housing units, a hotel, medical services, and business offices, revitalizing this prime real estate.
Project #4: Water Street Phase 2 Water Street has already dramatically transformed downtown Tampa.
    Plans for Phase 2 include:
A new condo high-rise: Projected to be the tallest tower in Water Street.
    Build-to-suit office tower.
Entertainment space: Featuring green space, a hotel, a parking garage, and possibly a mid-size concert venue.
Project #5: Ybor City - GasWorx and Ybor Harbor Ybor City’s redevelopment includes:
GasWorx: First phase of this 50-acre project includes 1250 housing units, 100,000 sqft of office space, and 105,000 sqft of retail.
Ybor Harbor: A 33-acre waterfront redevelopment with restaurants, housing, shops, boat slips, and green space, connecting GasWorx, Channelside, and Downtown Tampa.
These five projects are just a glimpse of the ongoing transformation in the Tampa Bay Area. For more updates click the SUBSCRIBE button!

Some great projects here. One thing no one talks about is water. There is only so much water developers can take from the Florida Aquifer. The thing you don;t what is to have sea water seeping and contaminating your water supply. Sure it rains in Tampa. We did not get much rain over the past year. Many ponds are very low. This also causes sink holes. On the bright side, Tampa should lead in EV charging stations with the development of these projects. EV's work great in warm climates and not so well in cold weather Upstate New York . Thanks for keeping us up to date on these projects.

@ltcmoose2001 I'm just wondering if Tampa going to keep investing in desalination. I remember when the first plant was built, it was quite controversial !!

I want to move to Florida from Chicago but I hear it is overcrowded.

I hear that a lot but I think it totally depends on where in Florida you want to move. There are definitely areas that feel overcrowded but it’s all relative to what you’re used to. There are also areas that are very rural, especially in the panhandle and the center of the state (Orlando excluded). Florida has many personalities depending on where you are. Come explore the different cities for a bit and see if any of them feel like home

There are absolutely growing pains With all of these developments, my hope is that smart infrastructure and roads are a priority while in the planning and approval stages. Also hope they focus on adding bike lanes, safe sidewalks, and public transportation
