I have the single position piston in it. I have a 2 position but haven't tried it since I'm using the low back pressure ION suppressor.

Can you tell much difference in recoil/ recoil impulse, DI vs Piston? debating to buy the piston systems for my Mars H and L

If you suppress your DI, it will be very over-gassed on an already combat-gassed 308 and kick way more than it should. I think that's where the piston system truly shines.
If you don't run a can at all, I don't see enough benefit to go piston on an AR system.
If you want a piston 308 that's reliable, compact and lightweight. Then I would recommend take a look at the new NRCH SCAR17s. A +6.5" MREX rail only adds 2.5oz to the 8lb empty weight.

16" barrel? Stainless or chrome lined chromoly? Just purchased that beautiful quad rail stripped upper an hour ago. Want to go with a piston barrel / BCG combo too but it's fairly expensive and quite hard to find
