- Walk with us around Polperro in July 2020. Following the recent lockdown, the shops, restaurants and pubs are starting to open and tourists are returning once again.
The walk starts at the top of the village near the Crumplehorn Inn. We make our way down through the narrow streets to the harbour and beach.

Polperro lies just a few spectacular miles along the coast from Looe. Sheltered from the ravages of time and tide in its cliff ravine, it's an enchanting jumble of cottages, each one unmistakably the work of a Cornish fisherman.
Polperro has a small sandy beach located just outside the main breakwater. The beach is in front of Willy Wilcox cave, believed to have been used by smugglers.
One of the most popular places in Cornwall, the village of Polperro is undoubtedly one of the prettiest.
Packed tightly into a steep valley on either side of the River Pol, the quaint colour-washed cottages and twisting streets offer surprises at every turn: the Saxon and Roman bridges, the famous House on Props, the old Watch House, the fish quay, and the 16th century house where Dr. Jonathan Couch lived, naturalist and grandfather of the celebrated writer Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch.
With its protected inner harbour full of colourful boats. Polperro is still a working fishing village, although tourism provides the main source of income. Attractions include a Museum of Smuggling and a Model Village.

Having stayed in Polperro many times over the years, this is by far the best video to showcase this wonderful place. No cheesy or inappropriate music, no inane commentary, just high quality, well produced video footage fully capturing the charm of Polperro. The beautiful weather and lack of “emmets” (!) sadly due to Covid also helped make this a super tour of the village and is our go to video when stuck inside on a rainy day wishing we were back in Polperro. Well done! 👏👏👏

I spent my childhood holidays at Polperro, from the age of 5 to around 12 (I am now 24). We use to stay at Pier Inn, right opposite the Blue Peter pub, looking out to the harbour. (Pier Inn seen at 47:50)
Each year the lady at the newsagents measured my height and pencilled it on the wall to see how much I'd grown. I wonder if it's still on the wall today?
I use to love sitting and the window watching the passers-by. I will always remember the woman shouting boat trips for half an hour, over and over again.
I'd always have a crab sandwich at the 3 pilchards pub. My parents ever remember when the old owner's cat, Jake, took a swipe at me at the bar. That always makes them laugh.
Fishing with my dad on the pier, never catching anything. :D We were both amateur fishers.
The memories mean more and more as time goes by, and they will always be times that I will hold dear forever.

This is an absolutely amazing walk!!!😍😍😍 I visited Polperro back in 1988, captured a great photo view of the harbour/beach with the boats... it was magical light for photography that day, very like your walk in this video. Reminds me of my long departed mum and dad who were with me on that trip. Thanks for the lovely memories... was quite emotional watching this, but in a good way. I hope to visit again one day.☺️ I see you do lots of walks on British coastal areas... just what I've been looking for... I will enjoy watching the other walks too! 👍

That's a super walk and a lovely part of Cornwall...we've just come back from the Peak District and we've noticed that pubs and takeaways are now opening, luckily people do seem to be following social distance rules when queuing! Thanks for sharing, hope you're well👍

My favourite childhood memories were spent in Polperro, visiting Jean in the noughts and crosses Inn the on to the Blue peter. The view from the cliffs is breathtaking. I would love to go back at some point. So many hidden secrets in the village you really have to pay attention when walking through.

Sort of reminds me of Greek videos, with all the white buildings , minus the seagulls. I notice lots of signs in these small villages. Keeps you informed. ✔. This is one of my favorite villages in Cornwall, along with Fowey and Port Isaac. ☆☆☆☆
Yes the narrow passageways and streets are similar to some Greek places. Polperro, Fowey and Port Isaac are all such beautiful Cornish fishing villages 💖

We had a week in a cottage in August this year (2021). We have visited Polperro a few times over the years but this was the first time we had stayed in the village.
(stayed at 'Glintings' booked through 'Toad Hall Cottages')

Looks flipping beautiful. It’s top of my domestic travel list at the moment but will go next year now. As NHS Staff it’s a tad disheartening to see pretty much zero masks being worn and minimal to no social distancing going on but appreciate the impact is less in Cornwall. Anyway, Not to take away from the video mind you, another great job and it really shows the village off to it’s full potential. One of the few truly unique seaside spots this country has and you’ve done a quality job showing it off. Amazing place. Lovely weather for it too. Really enjoying your videos!!!!!!

It's unfortunate that in the current climate we all offer a critical eye on Face Masks and social distancing, and we sometimes miss the beauty of what we are seeing. As an Englishman who moved away in 1987, there are times where I miss England a lot, but thankfully there are videos like yours that can at least serve as a bit of virtual "Home cooking" if you like. Even just the sound of the Seagulls at 10:16 and at other times later in the video is something that I miss!! Of course there is just a smidge of "Doc Martin" locations to your videos, which is understandable of course.
