    Honestly I’m totally down for more mascot horror games having musical numbers as long as they are properly pulled off successfully and adds to the experience and doesn’t unintentionally kill the mood and feels soulless

    Another really good example of songs in indie horror is the credits song for Killer Frequency. On the surface it's just a standard 80s song which fits well for the time period of the game but if you listen to it a bit closer the lyrics all reference the main antagonist Marie and the tragedies she went through and you also learnt about over the course of the game. That song perfectly encapsulates the tone of the game and is a fantastic ending to a phenomenal game.

    I find it interesting when horror creators put UA-camr fan songs into the game (I know you meant Sleep Well by CG5) like in Bendy where you can find instrumentals on radio. It shows that the fans are important to the game’s community and I find that kind of sweet. (Also Rambley Review is now my favorite from this list because it’s just so charming and wholesome)

    Regarding Rambley being a twist villain, UniqueGeese has stated in a livestream that Rambley is NOT evil. Though given that he just wants the best for the park, for his friends, and to have a friend, I think he'll be more of "The road to hell is paved with good intentions", given that it was shown that in his perspective, him decapitating Mollie is actually him saving her, and that the end credits song shows that he truly wants the protagonist to stay as much as possible. He'll be more like Caine in TADC, wanting the best for his friends but mistakenly doing something bad for the characters instead all for what he thinks is right.

    Your opinions for the game aside, Dark Deception does truly have some really good music for a indie game, probably my favorite set of tracks is Agetha’s, I just love how over the course of the level the stages theme changes to more creepy sound tracks, and Agetha’s chase theme becomes more aggressive, as she gets more and more pissed off at you, and you begin to see the schools true form, plus her boss theme, is amazing, with how somber it is in some parts, since this is the point in the level when you begin to realize how tragic Agatha actually is, with her basically having a mental breakdown in fear of failing Malak.

      Something that has bothered me about Th3 Badd3st is how they say they aren’t a fan of Dark Deception and has even said they hate it in the indie horror game tier list livestream. But comes back whenever they drop something new, plays the spinoffs, brings it up in videos that aren’t necessarily about Dark Deception and sometimes replies to tweets from the developers. That isn’t the behaviour of someone who isn’t a fan.
      I feel like Th3 Badd3st is a classic example of a fan in denial. They are frustrated with the very slow development, bugs that don’t get fixed and naivety of the developers decisions, but are desperate for more reasons to hate the game so start seeing things to hate that aren’t there. A quote I like says, “Hate is too strong of an emotion to spend on someone you don’t like.” Meaning people only hate someone/something because deep down they actually like it, if they didn’t like it in the first place then they wouldn’t care if it was bad.

    • @alecpheonix0761
      @alecpheonix0761 Місяць тому +1

      @@ITS-ME-NARDIE I think they keep pretending they hate it, because they already said they hated it multiple times, but then they got their ass handed to them by their community and they realized that their complaints were very silly, and now they like it, but they don’t want to admit their wrong, I know I do it sometimes too, but I also agree with what you said too and think that could also be the answer to what ever the deal is with their opinion on Dark Deception.

      @@alecpheonix0761 I recognise the behaviour from the toxic FNAF fans. They say how much they love the game one day, how special and important the game has been for them. Then Scott Cawthon does something they don’t like and suddenly FNAF is the worst game ever made, how they never liked it and how everyone else is either faking that they like it or they are too stupid to understand what quality game is. But when the next FNAF game comes out those fans are suddenly back to praising the franchise.
      I’ve noticed that Th3Badd3st’s criticisms have been more about business decisions like refusing to fix bugs, focusing on releasing M&M DLCs and the collab with Yandere Dev, rather than anything the main game actually does wrong. Which is why I make the comparison, Glowstick have definitely made poor marketing decisions and misjudged their priorities, but using that as an argument to say why Dark Deception as a game is bad is delusional and desperate. (I wouldn’t be surprised if Th3Badd3st ends up saying DD is good again once CH5 comes out & the bugs get fixed)

    • @alecpheonix0761
      @alecpheonix0761 Місяць тому

      @@ITS-ME-NARDIE no doubt about any of what you say, and yeah I would say DD is definitely the worst when it comes to showing something that isn’t going to be released for another year thing that’s been happening, I mean some of it can be explained like Nikson tapping out because he needs to work on the ignited collection, but Monsters and Mortals in hindsight was a horrible decision for glowstick given how there’s only 3 of them now 2 working on the series, I hope with the future games in the series they’re saying they’re going to make, that they put that game first and their other games 2nd like what mob is doing with Poppy now

      This isn't lyrical, but one of my favorite indie horror themes is Schwanenei, from ONAF 3. It's honestly kind of sad to me how it's overshadowed by Eleggtroswing. This theme is a slow rendition of the FNAF 3 "Shadow Bonnie Theme", and it fits surprisingly well for the game's hard mode. It gives the night a bittersweet feeling, and is a perfect conclusion to the series.

    Imagine a horror video game (mascot or not) where the main gimik is having different instruments to fend off different creatures, and you collect different tools (dunno what) to play diffrent instruments automatically. By the end of the game you will have a guitarist, drummer, singer, pianist and/or others. Collecting different instruments isn't required but recommended but if you don't have a certain instrument then it will be missing from the final song.

    Really enjoyed this video! I love it when indie horror includes lyrical songs somewhere in there, it's so good, and sometimes it can have a lot of meaning. Perhaps one of my favorite examples of this is Bendy and the Dark Revival's lyrical track, Come What May. But to fully appreciate that, we gotta get into its precursor, Lonely Angel.
    So Lauren Synger, the voice of Alice Angel in all her iterations, was so inspired by Bendy and the Ink Machine upon joining the team that she wrong a song for Alice, and that song was Lonely Angel. It's a heartfelt track that's bouncy and full of love. It appears in Chapter 5 of the game as one of the radio tracks. In previous chapters, there were hidden radios you could find that played an instrumental version of a Bendy nerdcore song, including Build Our Machine by Will "DAGames" Ryan, Bendy and the Ink Musical by Random Encounters, and Can't Be Erased by JT Music. So the final radio being Lauren's song is just a really cool way to close it off in my mind. It's really easy to miss, but it doesn't change the love that's there. Come What May is another song written and performed by Lauren Synger, and it's impossible to miss. It appears as the backing track for Chapter 4 of Bendy and the Dark Revival. It's a really sweet song with a good message. While it's unclear whose perspective its from, you can attribute it to have a lot of meaning for a number of these characters.
    Funny story, in December of 2022, not even a month after BATDR release, Lauren and the voice cast for the game teamed up with a number of fans for a special project that's hosted on the DAGames channel: the Joey Drew All-Star Music Review. This forty five minute experience features the voice actors singing song parodies in their character voices, and it is an absolute blast. Obviously it's non-canon and just for fun, but a lot of work went into it to surprise the fans. I should know, I'm one of the people that worked on it. XD One of my favorite tidbits is actually in the credits for the projects. Dave Rivas, the voice of Joey Drew, recorded himself humming Come What May, and we were so excited to put it in the credits, alongside Will's instrumental version of Mr. Crooked. It's a very small thing, but it was such a treat to have Come What May have another iteration. I have a number of headcanons about it.

    My opinion on Indigo Park's song:
    - Objectively good song
    - Placed at the wrong spot, right after reviewing what seems to be the next villian
    - It's the end of chapter 1 which is technically an opening of a horror adventure but the song feels like "Oh god that was such an exhausting and emotional journey, I'm glad that we have made it all through together!!"
    Also, chase music does sound intense but not so scary, makes me feel like I'm playing a minigame, especially when the environment has a lot of colors.

    I like to imagine the bad ending theme relating to the animatronics still alive and never giving up their vengeance given how when i listen to the music, it sounds old and broken, almost like Freddy’s music box has lost some of the pins of its comb. Yet, just like the spirits, it still is active. Using up its remaining power to continue a task that won’t benefit anyone.

    • @waggieentertainment9387
      @waggieentertainment9387 Місяць тому

      It also makes the good ending’s music even cooler because it explains why it feels more happier, complete, and a bit sad narratively. Happier because the spirits finally let go of their anger and able to pass on, complete because they’re no longer destroying themselves over a man who’ll never feel guilt, and maybe a bit sad because they realize that after 30 or so years of being together, they now will go their separate ways. Back to their families also in the afterlife. Just like how in real life, fnaf wouldve just been a small chapter in indie horror, bringing a bunch of random people together with fnaf 1’s mystery, before letting everyone go after fnaf 3’s final scavenger hunt for the final answer. Everyone had their happiest day.
      Except the game itself kinda sucked and fsr scott decided to not rework fnaf 3 and just make fnaf continue. I mean im not complaining Funtime Freddy is pretty cool.

    Ok so, I'm subscribed to CG5 and after hearing ◇Sleep Well the first time, I kinda didn't get the concept but I really liked the rhythm and melodies of this song. The real feel of now really understanding the characters' situation and making an epic video of the 'Hour of Joy' in another perspective is so great and it makes me *aAAAÁĄĄĄĄĄĄĄ-*
    ◇Kinito is scary and keeps you listening while getting so uncanny even tho he is supposely trying to make you stay by doing something geniuly good hearted, but also it's evil (and somehow that sounded cute in my mind until you listen again to the song)
    ◇And then there's Indigo Park, which is just on of the most wholesome moments to me in the terror franchises I know (I also love Rambley)

    This is literally the most random thing I could mention from this video, but you did properly pronounce Johannes Brahms (at least for American English, since I highly doubt you'd even enjoy saying it in a German accent), so kudos to you, I suppose!
    (Also, that is indeed a very touching track and it has definitely made me cry on several occasions.)

    I feel like if you ever make a part two of this, you should check out the musical numbers in piggy. I know I sound like a buffoon for saying this, but the lyrical songs are honestly so good, and perfectly talks about the characters they're based off of, without directly talking about said characters. BSlick (the main composer for the game) honestly did an amazing job with the game OST! (Side note: Even if you don't have any interest in roblox stuff, I think you should still check out his channel. He makes meme songs every once in a while (usually roblox related but still) has actual albums not related to roblox, and even a second channel where he travels with his wife and kids!)

    The meaning of fear is an amazing intro to the final boss, and is one of three different moods the ending of this route takes with the sound design, however don’t listen to it when you are super tired, when it is at night, or alone in the dark because it will give you anxiety

    Whenever I think about DDLC I think about my friend going up to the creator and going "I like your shirt :)" about his DDLC shirt and not realizing it was him until hours after. Also KinitoPet's song is probably my fave out of all of these! Especially bc of how it intentionally sounds similar to Daisy Bell as that's the first song ever sung by a computer :)
