The importance of keeping Justin Fields in Chicago is multi-faceted. Fields has shown leadership qualities that have resonated with the team. His teammates have praised his increased leadership which is crucial for team chemistry and overall performance.
On the other hand, bringing in Caleb Williams could potentially disrupt this chemistry. While Williams has shown promise in college, transitioning to the NFL is a different challenge altogether. There are instances where Williams’ actions have raised questions about potential impacts on team chemistry and performance against top 25 teams. 51% complection rating and a 1:1 td to INT ratio against ranked teams in college screams he might struggle in a league of the best of the best.
Coaching has indeed been a significant issue in Chicago. The Bears have had a history of instability in their coaching staff. When the Bears switched their defensive coordinator, the defense’s performance improved. This suggests that the problem may not lie with the players, but with the coaching.
If we apply the same logic to the offensive side, it’s reasonable to speculate that a change in offensive coordinator could lead to improved performance. The current offensive coordinator, Luke Getsy, has faced criticism for inconsistency and struggles to adjust in-game. The same criticism the former Defensive Coordinator was being tagging with before he's firing and ultimately Flus taking over responsibilities a the the defenses' playcaller. hmmm, could maybe A more competent offensive coordinator potentially bring out the best in Fields and the rest of the offense, much like the defensive coordinator switch did for the defense.
Fields has one more season in which he'll be paid 6mil in cap and after that the decision to pay him has to be made. people act like he's breaking the bank, when reality he's still under contract one more season. keeping Fields, improving the coaching staff, loading (and i mean loading!!!) up talent by trading down once or twice and maintaining team chemistry could be key to the Bears’ future success. However, these are complex issues that require careful consideration and strategic decision-making. The uncertainties in the NFL landscape further underscore the importance of making informed, logical decisions rather than banking on unproven “generational talents”. Dude has yet to play a snap in the NFl, media throws the world around every draft class with no accountability and it sickens me. They're selling a product to the masses and the new shiny toy is the ticket to the uneducated casuals.
talent set the floor, character sets the ceiling.
but what do i know, I'm only 56 yrs old and watched more football than most.
p.s please stop throwing the word generational around, especially to prospects - & and maybe Claypools comments that got him traded were accurate, "They're not using me right" 🤔 🤔 was claypool the good guy 😂 😂

      Everything you said 💯 👏🏽
My thoughts on how the Bears 🐻 need to address this off-season
Poles needs run it again with JF1 / Flus
Hire new OC that can help unlock this offense & specially that knows how to use the strengths of Justin
      Add weapons/help from FA
Center needs to be upgraded since yesterday, get someone reliable & not too old, they gotta draft another C too and let him learn from the Vet one, can’t throw a rookie C like that
Add another IOL/G for rotation as you know Tev & Nate might miss time
Add a vet LT for rotation & to help Braxton/Darnell take a step further into developing
Look at bringing back Mercedes Lewis at TE, add another from FA + draft another
Add young vet WR so that DJ & him Can help the younger WRs
Draft 1st rd WR & 3rd rd; this shows confidence in really trying to help Justin, he’ll do it as CJ, ask Fields which WR he wants like Stroud did with Tank Dell
Draft or add from FA another RB to replace Foreman, hell if the Ravens let JK Dobbins hit FA I would love to reunite him with JF1 like in Ohio State
Trade/Cut Cody Whitehair & Eddie Jackson
      Resign Jaylon Johnson
If Jeremy Chinn hits FA they should try to get him for FS & draft another FS to grow along Brisker and eventually take the starting role
Draft 1st rd DE/DT or acquire 1 on FA to have more depth, idk if Justin Jones is coming back, plus idk who at pass rushing is also coming back, we need depth
There is a a lot of holes 🕳️ the Bears 🐻 need to address before even thinking about drafting a rookie QB for this team…

Less about wanting getsy back and more about wanting continuity on defense and to win next year. With Harbaugh, you will lose eberflus and his defensive scheme (expect them to be bad on defense next year if he joins) and you will force fields into another new scheme. Its rare new schemes work on both sides of the ball in their first year. Your probability of success short term is grim, long term could be a lot better tho. You probably also lose the locker room in the short term and this fan base will call for your job because we are impatient. If there was a home-run offensive coordinator i would say to go with him but I just dont see any open that dont want a head coach job. Tough situation for Ryan Poles

I clicked on this video to make one statement just in case someone at the Bears reads these. Trade Justin Fields...and don't take that as a negative on JF. Give the man a chance somewhere else out of the intense pressure of the Chicago ongoing rebuild experiment ( going on 30 years now).Give JF a chance somewhere else to prove he was not the problem And make Eberflus Defensive Coordinator. Players like him. His expertise is defense. If he turns it down it's on him.And if possible get Jim Harbaugh for head coach and lastly draft the LSU Heisman winning qb Jayden Daniels. Passing on him will be like passing on Michael Jordan. The Heisman trophy winner meaning he was chosen as the best player in ncaa football this year and the season he just had was unprecedented, 4500 yards of total offense, 3500 passing and 1100 rushing. Dont overthink this. Take the number one pick and use it for the number one player. Give JF a chance elsewhere and trade him for some lineman... a double win, and if possible get Jim Harbaugh. I have a feeling Jim is itching for a chance to take Chicago to the Super Bowl.Give it to him. He is not going to stay at Michigan. If I am wrong get another coach. But drafting Jayden is the game changer. Whoever the coach is it will make their job a lot easier. Ask Bill Belicheck.

  • @tlt3921

Tyson Baget stepping in and winning two games in his first four starts which was more than Justin Fields won in his previous eighteen starts made it very obvious JF is the problem . Same coaches, same team, same OC calling plays, same offensive lime. difference?, Baggett could read the defense and find his receivers before being sacked which is something JF has never been able to do ... for three years and that is not going to change. Proof. Tyson Bagget could do it from play one. You either have a QB mindset or you don't. JF is a running back who can throw. Tyson Bagett is a qb who can run. That mindset will never change..trade JF and draft Jayen Daniels, Heisman Trophy winner, 4500 yards total offense, 3500 passing n 1100 rushing. Not drafting him will be like not drafting Michael Jordan. Or play Tyson Bagget. Bears will win more games either way

I kind of disagree with Wanny on the guards and Tackles. The RT is good to go, this was his rookie year and we should see better play next year. The LT, we need to see an upgrade there over the off season. The guards, they did not play a good game either game against GB. Jenkins is mad at himself for his play, have not heard from Davis on his play though. But the O Line in general played poorly in both games. The last one they allowed 15 pressures and 4 sacks in the 1 game (last game) alone. That needs to be better, I know they wont keep everyone out of their backfield every play, but they need to be better on that aspect, keeping the D off of the QB has to be priority 1, priority 2 open the running lanes and clear them out. O Line is our trenches, our O Line needs to play pissed off and just beat up the D Line.
As for running the sweep on 4th and 1, why not run it up the gut, with FOREMAN! He is the biggest RB we had and NEVER utilized him properly. I love Herbert and Johnson with what they bring to the table, but if we do not retain Foreman we need to pick up a bowling ball that can beat on the D Line.

As a Packer fan, I'm always baffled by how often the Packers are mentioned by the Bears team, media & fans when discussing the Bears' struggles. Outside of (maybe) the oldest generation of Packer fans, the only time the Bears are mentioned is during Bear week and maybe the day or two following. Why does Chicago constantly use GB as the measuring stick? I understand the lopsided results over the years, but the whole mindset surrounding the Bears is difficult to grasp. Chicago needs to stop obsessing with GB and start focusing on real success. When that happens, the GB thing will resolve itself

Then get an LT, C, LG (switch Tev back to RG), Edge, 3 tech. There's too many holes on this team to worry about qb just yet. I agree except the part about him quitting.
You fire him because he does not get it and you show that YOU are not ok with that.

@Philtration I agree, but I said that, so it's not a bad look on the team keeping Fields and getting another OC. It helps us more if he just leaves cause now, there was no choice but to get another OC. Not that we don't really need another one in the first place.

Getsy was an easy blame and still sorta is.He does some really cool things . Then he does dumb shit no one does like routes with guys in the same spot. or asking your fullback to line up at the x.They had a goal of forcing Fields to work in the pocket .He showed he can and does improve. They need a lot of interior help on the line for more of what getsy wants to do to work. He's very replacable though

Keep Justin and give him a chance with a GOOD offense and OC, nobody can tell me Justin has been given a fair chance, he's been everyone's skapegoat.

I swear, if warren or poles dont fire flus and refuse to upgrade at HC, Im done with the team. We you have the opportunity to make your team great and if you pass on coaches like jim harbaugh, you dont deserve your job as GM or president.
We want to win, take the north and never give it back, not constantly get new packer ownership every ***king 15 years. Flus isnt the coach to take us to the superbowl, let alone a packers loss.

Just read Josh Shrock's take on NBC Sports Chicago. I like Josh and often agree but his take--and this narrative--of "we're not swinging big" is garbage. I predict a counter-narrative when we sign Mike Evans and/or make the splash we will in the draft. Look, the players LOVE Flus. The team won more games. It was uneven. But the improvement, especially on the D, is plain to see. I bet if Getsy had called a better game and the Bears had beaten GB he'd be here. But he didn't. We get a new OC and likely a late 1st/early 2nd or even mid-round QB to push Fields. That's fine. That's a rebuild, y'all. Look at the Lions. I'm sick of Bears media treating the Ryan Poles era like it's the same as before. IT IS NOT. Poles is beating Spock at 3-D chess while cynical Bears reporters look at their Ryan Pace notes...

  • @joshuareigns9841

I always enjoy Dave Wannstedt’s inside perspective on the Bears, but I do believe he is completely wrong on Luke Getsy. It’s crazier keeping him than hiring a 5th OC during Justin’s tenure.

Didn't we just sign a free agent guard last year in Nate Davis ? Another terrible sign!!!! Poles fumbles decisions to much. From trades to free agents to draft picks . He's maybe 50 - 50 at best. Which for the bears and there mediocre approach to everything, poles is a perfect GM for chicago.

Wannstedt is right about Williams character being a red flag.
He comes off as entitled, arrogant, pouty, unable to face even simple questions...
Him painting expletives on his fingernails before playing Notre Dame and Utah show immaturity and poor decision making.
Do you really want a QB that acts like a 14 year old emo mope leading your team?
On top of that hot mess, he can't play under Center, his footwork and mechanics suck, USC's offense is a simplified, one read playbook and nothing like understanding an NFL offense.
Who wants to bet that he comes in under 6' 1" at the combine?

This team has been a joke for all but what 5 games of Fluses time so far and we are talking about the team looked a little improved as to why keep him and the same old BS George McCaskey cycle of a new OC every 2-3 years, keeping a yes man, safe, middle of the pack players coach too long.
