I have both and listen to them. Marshall is notches above the flip 6 for the overall sound quality, clarity and soud stage. The styling and substance - it has a lot of heft and substance. Anything hip hop and bass heavy songs - jbl kicks ass. Marshall has good bass and is quite tight. But that thump is the only place jbl wins. Otherwise it's all the way Marshall in every other aspect
I own both. The JBL definitely has the bass (as with most JBL products), but can sound kind of muffled because of it. The Marshall has a more balanced "clarity" thing going for it, and can bang out the bass pretty well. So both are solid choices. For me, if I had to choose one I'd actually roll with the Marshall. Battery life is much better, but also because it's box-shaped it doesn't roll around like the JBL if it or the table it might be sitting on is bumped.
@@thewitcher_2428When you try to place it on a rather steep surface, the chance of rolling of of it instead of staying there is unquestionably higher for the flip 6.
Exchanged my Emberton to Flip 6. Both original (at least purchased from official resellers). Didn’t like how Emberton performed bass (kinda overwhelming), its performance with higher volume is just meh. Maybe it’s for outdoors mostly… Flip 6 sound is so much clearer in my opinion. Also better with high volumes and bass
I have the Emberton. It grew on me so much! I stopped using my homepod mini at all. The battery is phenomenal and something really punchy and unique about it. Thanks for this video though.
Wow, to my ear the flip 6 sounds overall superior.. The emberton has a weird mid boost, with kinda muffled highs - at least from this sample.. The Flip is overall present, with good highs and mids. At least, thats what Iam hearing!
One thing most of the portable speakers reviewers always skip is stereo pairing of two speakers. Hey, some of us still like stereo sound that's truly separated. You really can't have stereo sound unless you separate the left and right channel be physical distance. Having a single stereo speaker is NOT stereo. So I have both of these speakers. The JBL Flip 6 can do a stereo pair with a second JBL Flip 6. A Flip 6 cannot be stereo paired with any different JBL. So when pairing a JBL Flip 6 and JBL Flip5 the sound is monaural and the same from both speakers. Also, adding more than two Flip 6s in party mode will only be monaural sound from all paired speakers. Bose Soundlinks can do stereo pairing. So can the Sonos Roam when using Airplay 2. I have those as well. Stacking two Emberton II speakers cannot produce stereo sound. It seems Marshall did not add that capability for some reason. Stacking two Emberton II speakers just has the same sound coming from both speakers. Stacking additional Emberton II speakers just repeats the same monaural sound from each additional speaker. I bought the Emberton II because I thought they could be stereo paired so I was disappointed to find out that they can't be. I'm not sure if stereo pairing cannot be added with an app upgrade or there is a hardware change required. I'm puzzled as to why Marshal did not provide that capability. As far as the sound quality goes, I have to agree, the JBL flip 6 sounds better than the Emberton ii because it provides better low frequency response. The JBL has two speakers inside while the Emberton II only has one. Sorry for being verbose...
That's really good info, and you are right stereo pairing is often on the back burner with things like optical inputs, codecs, etc haha. I did a short video on what the future may hold for true stereo pairing and other tech here: ua-cam.com/video/ly75P1XO39Y/v-deo.html. Curious what you'll think.
Emberton II has got two speakers, plus two passive radiators, so the speaker delivers sound from the front and back. I have only one, so please try different side when you stack.
I have both... and both of them are good speakers imo, for bass it will be flip6 definitely...but for overall balance and sound signature...I'll choose emberton, I'm not so sure why because flip6 have a very good sound output too, but Im enjoying more listening to emberton...maybe because of the Marshall sound sig...which is more pleasing to my ears.
JBL sound signature after the charge five has really improved. I like the bass of JBL but before charge five they sounded more muffled. now they have also achieved a bit of the spectrum towards the higher end. All the never heard emberton in real life, from the reviews that I watched I am getting the vibe that they are more suited for vocal performances and more string heavy music opposed to the more electronic hip-hop music which sounds better on JBL speakers.
That Harman curve is apparent in the JBL and it really shows even more when doing side-by-side with others. It's like that east coast vs. west coast or even vs. UK sound. Strange to hear it in mono in such a tiny speaker.
i have the Marshall emberton 2 and one of my friends has the JBL flip 6. i once did a side by sound comparison , testing multiple songs. i must say the JBL sounds great for POP and EDM. indeed getting lower with bass. but the Marshall DESTROYS JBL's speaker when it comes to Rock and metal music. when i play rock and metal music through the JBL it sounds bad. some low guitar blasts get changed into bass making guitar sound unnatural and muddy. the Marshall kills it when it comes to instrumental music like rock and metal. guitar sounds far more natural. while on the JBL the vocals get burried by the low bass sounding guitar and you barely hear these vocals. making it sound like some bassy muddy chaos. i'm a rock and metal music listener. so pop music is less important to me. so the Marshall is definitly meant for me. while JBL is clearly meant for those people who are into those party bass boom boom music.

Maybe I missed it but do they both have a separate left and right channel? In other words is there separate left/right speakers in each cabinet for true stereo sound? I'm not interested in purchasing a bluetooth speaker that requires that I purchase a second unit to pair with it just to produce stereo sound. I suppose for just listening to dialog mono is fine but I'd mainly be using it for listening to music and I really can't appreciate most musical pieces in mono (no matter how much added base or treble a single speaker adds) versus stereo (unless of course the original recording is already in mono) so I've ruled out many mono only bluetooth speakers.
I'm just saying that batteries don't last forever in any device and I don't have any info to verify. I'm just guessing it'll eventually wear out. I could be completely wrong and it'll last 10 years... or it could die sooner.@@Nhguava
