@@paulietv2162 Wrong. Most pro MMA fighters believe Fedor is the heavyweight GOAT. MMA is the only sport I watch since 2008. Fedor did not lose to Kohsaka. It was a clash of heads and Fedor got cut. Doctor said he could not continue. It should have been a no contest but it was a tournament so they gave Kohsaka the win. Fedor had a 10 year unbeaten streak against the best HW fighters of the time. Fedor is the HW GOAT of MMA. Period.

I knew once this guy threw a Superman punch off the cage against Till that he was my type of fighter. Then that fight with Brunson? Spectacular bout to watch. He made Derek’s corner throw in the towel!!! Then playing games with someone like Robert Whittaker? He straight up bodies everybody he fights and as a fan I couldn’t be happier that he is the one to get the belt from Strickland. DDP coming for that UFC title !!!

DDP earned my respect when Drunk Izzy verbally attacked him in the cage after the Whitaker fight and he knew enough to turn and walk off. He didn’t let Izzy ruin his moment.

I think Stricklands best chance is to grapple/wrestle and use his superior gas tank as a weapon...tire ddp out... ddp has had fights where he slowed down alot. Wasn't his last fight that's for sure...but I just think grappling would tire ddp out way faster... holding him against the cage even...but Strickland has great defense so ddp could get tired from missing so much..who knows. I just think ddps striking would be to much for Sean... Seans got great wrestling when he decides to use it.

We need to acknowledge what this man has achieved. Even reaching the UFC as a South African is HUGE. He carries his nations hopes and dreams on his shoulders. And wants to make an entire country proud.

I think Dricus can deliver and get the belt and I hope he does, because it will be refreshing. He's diplomatic but there is an integrity that underlines everything. To defend the contender/rankings system... that is almost novel. A champion that rejects hype fights and sees who is the contender that deserves the fight (and obviously be put back in their place) and not afraid to deal with them. Taking risks. The current climate is ridiculous and more kudos to dopey Adesanya taking on the top contenders in his division (a uniformly unchallenging top five it has been - styles make fights) with no one wanting a hard fight, led by the HW champion in absentia.
He can converse. Not talk. Converse. Listen and answer. Relaxed speaker, friendly disposition, passionate. Doesn't play the tough guy and doesn't bang on endlessly about money. Doesn't hide his ambition and drive and everything isn't for sale. It's so tedious hearing about anything for money, indifferent to everything except the money. It's deeply uninspiring and undermines them as sportsmen. Other sportsmen talk about the winning, the goals, achievements. Their contracts are kept in the background.
Heads up on the staying grounded. Only under the most extreme circumstances should one ever refer to themselves in the third person. Dricus should watch that.
It's charming him admitting that he was jealous of the main card fighters on the poster, dreaming of being on the poster. That stuff is setting an example for the lads out there that the work can make things happen for you and it is normal to yearn for the mainstage, the signs that you have gotten somewhere.
He's marketing normalcy. And he's saying MMA, and the UFC, isn't the domain of the underground. He is a great ambassador for mainstreaming MMA as a sport.
DDP is underrated at trash talking, I noticed that even in the Darren till fight. The way he switches from showing respect to humbleness to arrogance to disrespect is fucking sneaky. The best line on Strickland imo was "you dont get the judge to decide, you make the ref go STOP you are going to kill this man", that was fucking genius, he made strickland look like a fool because of all the killing stuff he has said

Dricus has stolen many fans from Strickland with his confident demeanor. The truth of the matter is he isn’t the type to engage in distasteful trash talk, but Sean kept pushing and he eventually responded and destroyed him at his own game. High likelihood Dricus smokes him with pressure.
I agree with all of this. DDP really put Strickland in his place fast. I also think he is way too powerful for Sean. I think he takes him down for ground and pound and ends this fight.
