You've done three Nirvana songs, all off of their breakout album, Nevermind. They had one other hit off that album, "In Bloom". From their follow up, In Utero, they had "Heart Shaped Box", "All Apologies", and "About a Girl". An amazing song was released in 2002 called "You Know You're Right", eight years after Kurt Cobain's death. Of course, you already know drummer Dave Grohl formed Foo Fighters, and they were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. "All My Life", "Monkey Wrench", "Everlong", "Learn to Fly", are just a few of the Foo's best songs.

Butch Vig, who was the engineer on this album (Nevermind) has said that Kurt was a big Beatles fan and loved melodies. You can hear that in songs like this. Their sound was so radio friendly because of the melodies. And yet they were so heavy they kicked the door down and took no prisoners when it came to rock music. Pretty much single handedly brought an end to "hair metal" and "glam rock" that permeated the late '80s.

My favorite Nirvana song! Y'all seriously need to listen to Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance, particularly their cover of the blues standard, "In The Pines" (some people call it "Where Did You Sleep Last Night"). Kurt's voice is so raw and authentic, and tears at your soul.
Cobain called it "Where Did You Sleep Last Night", and got the song directly from Leadbelly. Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton recorded very different from Nirvana, but nearly identical to each other, versions under the "In the Pines" title; suspect they prolly got it from Bill Monroe?

The famous "Nirvana Baby" on the cover of Nevermind, is now 30 and has sued the remaining band members of Nirvana many times for the usage of the cover, saying that it comes close to child abuse and child pornography, which is absurd since 1: Every single one of the over 30 million owners of the album, including myself, would be guilty of and sueable for owning and supporting child pornography; And 2: It could´t have bothered him that much, since it didn´t stop him from having spent 3 decades profiting of his cover fame by reenacting the photo and signing CDs against payment.
He's looking for a big payday. The image would have been used with his parent's consent, so perhaps he needs to refocus and sue them. But he knows who has the deeper pockets, and it's unlikely his parents have the cash he's looking for.

There were times back in the day that I would put on Nirvana and feel really understood and then I could build myself back up from there. It's like it can just take a song to help you feel heard and then after feeling heard you can decide what you want to do after that.
Hi Jay and Amber, I'm a musician who's much older than you two 😂since their start in 1987 I've been in bars, halls, hotels, etc. and heard Musicians and Non Musicians say differing opinions about how Kurt wrote. To Me, never writing a song before, I thought he was a GENIUS! If you can make the world go "DAMN THIS GROUP IS GOOD", and create a whole genre of music, GRUNGE 😎, and make flannel dress up wear, F YEAH. He was GREAT! Unfortunately the pressures of the record label, drugs and being famous and the drugs took him away from us 🙏
The spookiest lyrics ever: " I swear to you that I don't have a gun". I wish someone could have read into the lyrics of numerous songs that he was suicidal, and somehow had stepped in and made things right for him. So sad...
If you're loving Grunge than you need to listen to Dinosaur Jr. They're older than Nirvana. Good songs exemplares are: Get me, Out There, Feel the Pain, Watch the Corners and Over Your Shoulder.

Dope reaction! R.I.P. Kurt
As it turns out, he did have a gun. RIP Kurt. Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) is the drummer. Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) probably has the best voice in Grunge. But Kurt was amazing
Chris Cornell period. Staley was almost always aided by the great vocals of Jerry Cantrell
@@flyingburritobro68 Chris Cornell is my #2 grunge singer. But Layne Staley's vocal range in Man In The Box is undeniable
I live in Aberdeen WA. I'm about a mile away from his boyhood home and the Kurt Cobain Memorial Park
To be one of the most underrated songs that most people never mention is Breed. That song will get your blood pumping. Makes you wish you were in a mosh pit going crazy. Lol
Pls pls do ur selves a HUGE FAVOR and next nirvana do “ where did you sleep last night”. LIVE ON MTV UNPLUGGED. UR WELCOME!!! Lol. Much love
Great suggestion
Yes unplugged, where did you sleep last night" should be your next one.
❤️❤️❤️ IT !!! when he opens his eyes at the end . . . absolutely gut wrenching ! 👍😃❣️
The drumming….. 💯
There were times back in the day that I would put on Nirvana and feel really understood and then I could build myself back up from there. It's like it can just take a song to help you feel heard and then after feeling heard you can decide what you want to do after that.
You really really need to watch Nirvana live perfomances 🥲you will be SHOOK!!!!!!! ❣Specially from the MTV unplugged
Unfortunately the pressures of the record label, drugs and being famous and the drugs took him away from us 🙏
and . . . drop the mic 💯❤💯
His mental and psychological pain is what took him from us. The drugs were part of it, but certainly not all.
The spookiest lyrics ever: " I swear to you that I don't have a gun". I wish someone could have read into the lyrics of numerous songs that he was suicidal, and somehow had stepped in and made things right for him. So sad...
The MTV unplugged session of "About A Girl" is beautiful.
If you're loving Grunge than you need to listen to Dinosaur Jr. They're older than Nirvana.
Good songs exemplares are: Get me, Out There, Feel the Pain, Watch the Corners and Over Your Shoulder.
3:12 Both Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain died when they were 27 years old.
Same for Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison, all 27 years old..... in the 27 Club.
the drummer of Nirvana is David Grohl, the lead singer and guitar player of the Foo Fighters
The name is Dave Grohl and he did you Foo Fighters as the lead singer for them
Great song. "Heart Shaped Box" and "In Bloom" are a few other hits from them. Please check them out. Thanks guys!
David "Lee" Roth was the singer for Van Halen. Dave Grohl started Foo Fighters. Do "Heart shape box" and "In Bloom" next from Nirvana
So haunting how many times he says “and I swear I don’t have a gun” 🙏🏻
Vocal distortion/fry. Just like when you use a distortion pedal on a guitar or turn the amp up for natural distortion.
I enjoy this song
Recommendation for future songs
1. Queensryche - anybody listening
2. Zz top - pearl necklace
3. George thorogood - one bourbon one scotch one beer
4. Queensryche - blood of levant
5. Queensryche - lightyears
6. Todd Latorre - Crossroads to insanity

R.i.p...🕊 Taylor Hawkins.....💔
🤣😅🤣😅🤣 he tries. . .
You guys have listened to some great Nirvana songs, but you're really missing something very special from them, the set they played for the show MTV Unplugged. I suggest checking out the tracks "Where Did You Sleep Last Night", their cover of Bowie's "Man Who Sold the World", and "Plateau", though really the entire set was amazing.
Also, you've really responded well to some Soundgarden as well as Temple of the Dog, but I don't think you've listened to any of Chris Cornell's solo work. Specifically you should check out his version of "Nothing Compares To You".
And a suggestion for female Friday, the band Paramore, especially the songs "Misery Business" and "Still Into You".
Yeah, Dave Grohl didn't "join" the Foo Fighters, he *was* the Foo Fighters. On the first album he played pretty much everything, he didn't form an actual band until it was time to do concerts.
Earlier than the Grunge years was The Patti Smith Group with this same though less heavy handed. Her cover of the song G L O R I A is fantastic!
I was a teen in the late 70's and graduated in 82, so I had the best of the 70's, 80's & 90's music. I wore this album out! I AM BLESSED!!
We definitely did. Class of 83
Ultimately its a 3 piece band so its scaled down. watch some of the live performances where he wrecks the guitars x
This song man♥️💔♥️ all the emotions are right there and raw
David Grohl is the drummer. He started the Foo Fighters.
Kurt Repeating that line. No I don’t have a gun. Is freakin chilling!
