Rie is like a person who said that they dont understand anything but when they do the test they got 100
Right? She claims she doesn't know Spanish yet she hears him say things once and she can instantly repeat phrases and understands everything with no mistakes. Rie's a genius.
She's the student that went to like 3 classes throughout the year and still passed with 100%
Eroktus GT im the 1k like
Is no one going to appreciate that this man was in the navy and was a first responder for operation tomodachi?!
Yassss 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Happy Boi 👏
yesss so proud 🙌
I've never heard of operation tomodachi but yeah that's a great accomplishment.
no
This actually seems like a pretty decent way to learn a language, or at least practice
It was really interesting to see her picking things up naturally along the way and it wasn't stressful at all. She'll probably never forget those words
@@micaylapresley Plus because of her training she may know certain steps from culinary school.
True
It is. It's how I've learned to communicate with my mother in law even better.
tbh speaking is the best way of learning a language really well
Everyone needs a Gadiel and a Rie in their lives, this collab is everythingggggg
Ikr
Fun fact is that literally every Dominican has his actitud I’m Dominican and I’m like him 😂🙈
Uhmmm Alix Traeger too
Don't forget Alix and Rie
Gadiel: taste like home
Rie: taste like a home I’ve never been 😂
Keeks I liked it to 100 btw
Now a second later it’s at 106

Gadiel: *speaks spanish*
Everyone: *confused*
People that know spanish: *i see this as an absolute win!*
I see this like an absolute win-
I'm form Spain OK I take English lessons so don't tink I'm curious and I use autocorrect
Filipino's: *y e s*
old Filipino men born in the 1940's who have a decent grasp of Spanish:
Both of them should do a dish and Rie speaks Japanese and He speaks Spanish
Nutshell Bread YES! BUZZFEED DO THAT!
exactly! i thought maybe they'd do that, but since they didn't...they should!!
Would probably end with them burning the studio down lol
Nutshell Bread That would be sooo cool !!!
Gadiel: repeated and fast confusing Spanish
Rie: screams in confused Japanese
Can we see this again but reverse the roles? I’d love to see Rie teach him in Japanese
Amazing idea!!
They said at the end that they're doing this lol
That would be so amazing to see and it will be more challenging then Rie's. Because Spanish is a Neo-Latin Language and has common words with English. But Japanese belongs to Altaic Language, totally different language families and Gadiel is not gonna know what hit him lol.
@ Yes, except the Altaic theory is discredited. As it stands now, Japanese is considered an isolate, with no close relatives, which actually makes it worse :)
@@Anhilare I didn't know that, thanks for telling it! That makes a lot of sense since according to Altaic theory, Japanese and Turkish language are from the same family, different branches but I don't understand a single word from Japanese :)
Rie: "I never cook with fork before."
Me: **flip a nugget using a knife**

Me: reads a recipe in English, dish fails
Well, it's a different if someone stands next to you saying nonononono or yeeees so you'll know exactly what to do
Gabby H. I mean that's true but like I only cook/bake in cooking/baking class and a teacher is present to teach us how to make it before we do, but my dish still fails :p

It's fantastic, it's a joy in a world that needs some joy.
I've been waiting for this since Gadiel said he made two vids with Rie on his IG.
Rie: "My brain's already confused!" HAHAHA! This is so funny!
I do not know much Spanish but I'm Filipino and our language in very much influenced by the 333 years of Spanish colonization and I find it amazing that I understand much of what's he's saying without looking at the subtitles. Awesome!
About 40% comes from Spanish. ua-cam.com/video/6dBREc8ePuk/v-deo.html
I’m not fluent either but I’m in Spain in a bilingual school right now so I’m learning but I do know a lot
i live in Zamboaga in the Philippines. Its the only Asia's latin city so i understand almost everything
I probably understood more because I'm from Zamboanga. Hahaha
Is sad that majority of people don't want to learn Spanish anymore and is slowly been disappearing hope it people pick up interest again
He must have been a hilarious and adorable kid growing up omg
She must have been the cutest kids to exist growing up omg they are both so lovable

"Season it with your eyes"
I felt that in my Caribbean roots
My cuban Italian heart sang at that
I know, right?! Caribbean food is the only food I make where I don't measure. Lol but I guess it's like that with all cultures.
So did my asian heart
Not Caribbean, but that's something my grandma says all the time. Lol!
Even us(African), we measure using eyes.
when rie just naturally asked “¿aquí?” I felt so proud
@it's me hii Here
@it's me hii she pointed to the pot and said "aqui" which means "here".
She asked if she should put something in "aqui" or in "here".
You know your friend is really Latino when he or she says ‘“Eso es más con ojo olvídate de receta y vaina así’’
What does that mean? :)
@@antotheja251 It's very hard to translate. It means something like "It's by looking, forget the recipe and all that stuff". I guess is latino culture. We usually don't measure anything, we just pour seasoning and ingredients until it "feels right", haha.
DaphneKarina lmao sounds like Caribbean culture as well 😂😂 here at home, my ma doesn’t measure anything😅 she just eyeballs it. Even when I’m at school in f&n class, my partner and I just eyeball the measurements when the teacher isn’t looking😅

Yeah but no one calls canned tomatoes “red tomatoes”
I would love to see Rie do the same, but speaking her native language japanesse. ❤️👋
Mycelsium that’s gonna be a lot harder but it will be interesting and fun to watch
Peakapollo YT Actually if Rie uses a bit of katakana it’ll be slightly easier since katakana is basically English words split into Japanese phonetics
@@shroomy666 Katakana one of the written languages for Japanese. Katakana is used to write words with non-Japanese phonetics. The spoken language would still be normal Japanese.
Phlimbob Yes but you can still make out some English words if it’s repeated a few times - I know this from experience. I used to do Japanese in my Senior years :)
Phlimbob For example, pizza in Katakana would be pi - za (ピザ) which sounds like an English word if you sound it out loud :) Now, obviously some words will be harder than others but yeah!
I am proud of myself for knowing what he's saying and I'm not Spanish at all. Thank you Mrs. Marcedo for Spanish class
After i saw this video (thanks to Gadiel because im also dominican) i started to look more into Rie's videos/recipes and i really appreciate how she celebrates and shares japanese cuisine as a way to stay connected with her culture and heritage but at the same time create "versions" or "mixes" recipes with more western ingredients and techniques, if that's not the definition of a great chef i dont know what is. Also i gotta admit....i'm starting to fall in love with japanese cuisine
This is some grade A culture appreciation. Now the real test is learning from someone grandma.
Josue Alvarenga me too! I’m know how gma is critical but would love for anyone to learn to pass.

Josue Herrera agreed, they really bounce of each other when speaking if that makes sense lol. Also I think u meant *their.
This is such a good pairing. Both Rie and Gadiel are charismatic, funny, and adorable. More with them together, please!
just when i thought Rie couldn't be any cuter, what a alcohol loving bilingual queen
for anyone wondering what the "sazon" was, sazon goya condiment is a mixture of mainly culantro (long coriander) and annatto as main ingredients as well as turmeric, cumin, garlic powder and it also has some flavor enhancers like monosodium glutamate (if you are trying to replicate it you could skip the glutamate or not)
as for the adobo well as it states in the video, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, pepper and sometimes also cumin
i cannot describe the taste of long coriander but what i can tell is that it is WAY different than normal coriander and should not be used one instead of the other unless you can't get the other one (but they go well together too)
"Adobo is the best thing ever"
Filipinos: I couldn't agree more

When you're a filipino and watching this and heard the word "ADOBO" makes me feel hungry
oowww in dominican adobo is dominican seasoning and phillipines is dish of chicken soy sauce???? of sorry about the dish of phillipines idk the truth of adobo lmao
My father told me that foreigners love adobo that they even make sauce and seasoning from it. Haha. Btw im a filipino.
@@yesyes-rg9oi adobo is a very popular spanish seasoning really popular in latino America, that's probably why Philippines is also used.
@@JotaUY The adobo of the Philippines is its own thing, which is braised chicken/pork/anymeatuwant in soy sauce and/or vinegar, bay leaves, garlic, etc. with different styles in different regions and families. It's just called adobo by the Spanish colonizers because it's like the same process of marinating it (adobo) and the name just stuck.

When he said "Adobo!" I thought "You want her to put a whole other dish in there?!". That confused my Filipino ass for a moment. lol
Ryanne I deadass looked for the dish until she picked up what he actually meant 😂😭
It's a adobo a dish made off of a mix of things? Cuz if it is, then it definitely makes sense why both latinos and filipinos know and associate the word with an specific mixture; an example of our shared spanish influence.
