I was on the 109 in Hanau, Germany 89-91 and went back this past fall. Flew into Frankfurt and went to my old base of Fliegerhorst, near Erlensee. It was sad. We also visited Point Alpha a little north of Fulda. That was an eye opener. So much has changed over there.

Wow…Scout platoon CSC Company 1/7 Inf 3rd Bde 3rd ID Mec (1975-76) Aschaffenberg. 1976- duty of patrolling the Berlin Wall different ways for a time period, one of them as on the video, in a couple of jeeps armed with M-2 thru the American sector. Lot of germans stood at the side of the way, thanking us, waiving and/or shaking hands as we went by. It was patrol by choppers too. Day and night! Beautiful experience. Thanks for posting the video.

I was in W. Germany in the Army and thought it to be a great experience except for my narcissistic sergeant. I look at Germany now as being the powerhouse of Europe.

Unfortunately you’ll probably need to find out what unit he was in first. There were around 350-400,000 US troops in Germany at that time, so it’ll be hard to find someone who knew him unless you can narrow it down to a unit

I was there too. I was in 340 ASA before they renamed it, transferred to HHT 11ACR. I was friends with a guy in Air Troop named Robert Shearer. He went to Carson after Fulda and I ran into him there. Went to the Army Navy football game in 84.
