Me reversing my 27 foot long-keel sailboat: "Okay, ready to reverse out of the slip.... It's fine... gently... fine, yes.... oh, wait... no... nooo... NO!... No-no-no-no!!!... arh, for f... sake!.... well, let's try a bit forward then..."... haha!... According to the previous owner I will eventually get a feel for it and learn to compensate for its quirks. Thank you for another fine video. As a fellow new boat owner, I can totally relate to many of the lessons learned. I hope you will have a good season this year as well.
haha I can totally relate to that. I have my Vega in a quite tight harbor now and it's always a challenge to get her out. I AM able to go reverse in a straight line though, but not until I have about 1-1,5 knots :P
Hi Thomas. That's for the comme t. Yes I am still waiting for the magical moment when I can predict how the vega will respond in reverse lol. Here's hoping we all have a great season this year. Hoping to launch again in a few weeks 😁🤞
Hi Mark. I have a 2014 Zodiac Cadet 2.4m Aero. Great little boat with an inflatable keel (underwater profile gives nice ride for an inflatable) and deck. Very stable. They come with a small thwart (seat) that detaches and can be stowed in the storage bag along with the deflated boat. A manual pump is supplied, but you may choose to use a little 12V air compressor to inflate. The design has changed a little and I am unsure of the quality and specifications of the new boats. I am not an expert on tenders, but I have been happy with our boat. All the best :) Shaydon, Australia.
Hi Shaydon. Thanks for your comment. Sorry for the late reply. That sounds like a great dingy. I had a nautica dingy with the inflatable keel and deck, it was great, It didn't suit my new outboard though as there was not solid transom, The dingy from the video is slats and I hate it. So definitely want something like what you have. Sounds ideal.
Well mukka, i just watched all ya content over the past few days and i must say it was a pleasure to watch. Some points i felt bad for you both and some points i was overwhelmed by what you have achieved! Really well done. Boat looks gleaming i must say.. Can't wait for the next video. Well im off to make a brew and hopefully when i come back to my grot the next one is up... Take care all.
Hi Sandy, thanks for the comment. Really appreciate it. We try to give an open and honest view of our sailing as we are still learning. I know some of the content can be embarrassing for us to share but maybe others can learn from our mistakes. Next video should be up tomorrow afternoon. Appreciate you taking the time to watch them. Where are you from out of interest?
@@LittleBoatAdventures hey pal! Im from Argyll west coast off scotland but moved away when i was 16 and ended up working in Holywood belfast, i remember bangor quite well. Then i move to england and been all over the country. Now living in plymouth devon. 🤙 Cant wait till the tomorrow.. Cheers pal
Another good video Mark. Can't wait to see your project videos and how the work is progressing. I've started filling my Jerry cans with diesel for the up coming season. I'm going to wash the boat down this weekend, next weekend fit my diesel heater and the weekend after that service the engine. Then I'm ready for some sailing, I can't wait for lockdown restrictions to ease. 😁😁😁
Hey Lee. Getting on OK with the projects. How's the heater install? What heater is it you're installing? Looks like the end is in sight with the lock down, here's hoping a return to normality soon 😁
Never seen that method oh hauling a boat out, very neat and you can keep it on the trailer. Over here you have to have a travel lift and it kept on stands, so you are very high off the ground.
Our lite boat yard is small and operated by its members. Its an d yard and although my trailer has tyres most have steel railway wheels and operate on track. It works well thankfully
Hi, Not able to comment from experience but have seen umpteen options on various channels. Another solid fuel option is the Newport stove by Dickinson Marine but there is the problem with keeping it lit overnight. The same company have a drip feed diesel version of the stove similar to the Taylor and Reflex. These stoves are pretty simple technically and you already carry the fuel onboard. The "Chinese" or truck hot air heaters have plenty of coverage on youtube. "Just about sailing" does a pretty in depth look at heat output, air intakes, noise, insulation etc. on his channel. Duncan.
Hey Duncan. That's for your advice. I think diesel heaters suit our budget better but didn't know enough with regards to safety of them. But I'll get looking at some install videos and see how they fair. 👍
@@LittleBoatAdventures Yeah, I get her in the Baltic sea next month, and I will be practicing all summer. In the spring next year I'll head out on the big boy seas, I will sail the world and fish! 🎣🙂

Somehow missed this video!! What a difference from when she last came out of the water... looks like a new boat still.
Thanks. She looked good coming out of the water. But watch this space. We did an even better paint job after this haul out
Your doing a great job at promoting Stratford. We've only made it to Ardglass so far but encouraging us to go a bit further...

Yes guys, the north has some great sailing spots, just get on up here. We want to head down that way too

If you have an alcohol stove you can use that as a heat source. It will not last very long but it's better than nothing.
We do have an alcohol stove. Never thought of using this as a heat source though. Will definitely give that a go. Thanks
Beautiful Vega you got there! Backing with a Vega is always an adventure.. :) Enjoyed seeing the video, greetings from a Vega sailor in Oslo.
Hello and thanks for your comment. It really is an adventure in reverse 😂. Are you getting a chance to sail in Oslo at the moment?
@@LittleBoatAdventures Not yet, it's still fairly early here, but hoping to get the sails on this weekend!

Haha thanks Adam. Wod t go that far now lol. How you getting on?
When do you put in
Hoping to be back in around 2 weeks time at the latest.
I bought an Albin Vega last week... 😳 And it's your fault! 😁 I don't know how to sail... 😰
Really? Learn by doing my friend. You will pick it up easily.
