The flip side to this was a friend who was trying to be a restaurant manager who had an allergy to wine: drinking it invariably caused a headache. It had to be something in the light aromatics, because he had no difficulties w/ brandy. But yes, it sucked for him.

@@keirfarnum6811I am nearly 60 and have a lot of allergies as I’m asthmatic as well, but I was 10 weeks premature and only 3lb 5oz at birth, but I was exposed to lots of dirt eating and river swimming and getting the last of the used bath water being the youngest, our toilet was even outside and we lived in the city. But obviously your lungs are dodgy when you’re that premature and my first 3 months spent in an incubator in the hospital and only formula as they didn’t let the parents hold the baby in those days just those rubber gloves through the side of the incubator. I was always the sickly kid, my Sister 3 yrs older and only 6.5 weeks premature and only 3lbs 3 oz was always healthy. Luck of the draw a mixture of being that early and what genes you get too, as my Aunty had very similar illnesses to me, and my Cousin’s daughter has very similar chronic illnesses too, Ironically my Aunty outlived her 4 siblings and just kept going even when she was bed bound.

Well early explorers did say they passed huge cities when they travelled along the Amazon and I think most of those stories were laughed at since European diseases wiped out the local populations and the forest reclaimed everything by the time later explorers arrived. This is fascinating and I, too, would LOVE to know more about the peoples who lived in this lost civilization!

i'm fascinated by the increase in findings of amazonian societies over the past 50 - 60 years. especially since these findings aren't obsessed with the usual temples, tombs and monumental architecture we usually see presented. it's good to see some interest in the mundane aspects of life in prehistory and i hope to see more of it. on another note, it's good to see you're back. i was unaware of your recent health problems and really missed your regular broadcasts and hope to see more.

There are also mounds like these ones in the Bolivian Amazonian jungle (Beni). Their discovery is relatively recent and was also seen from the air. This area is called "Llanos de Moxos" (there is information en Wikipedia, Erickson, Clark and others) y some dates go back to 2800 years. Something related but recent (1906) is about the Brittish explorer Percy Fawcett who was looking for possible El Dorado and died trying; 100 more people died looking for him. He was a sort of engineer who traced the limits between Bolivia and Brazil so he walked through these jungles like 7 times.

That is amazing Kayleigh! Lidar really is a miracle tool in the field of modern archeology. It staggers the imagination that mega cities were being built two millennia ago and in the Americas. The site in Northern Guatemala called El Mirador seems to be on a scale in area comparable to this site. The massive pyramid discovered there, called La Danta is believed to be larger in volume than the Great Pyramid at Cheops. Having a unique triadic shape, these massive pyramids were once thought to be hills until archeologists uncovered them and removed the tropical foliage that hid them for perhaps 2,000 years. Both sites may be contemporaneous in age. Interesting if trade existed between both of these megalopolis size city cultures.

I once spent 3 weeks hiking around the lowlands of Central America and the Yucatan peninsula, staying in villages with a guide who spoke Spanish but I could not speak Mayan. If you ask any of the natives there they pointed to almost every hill and said that's just a buried ruin. "There used to be cities all around here." We're finding the same as true for huge portions of the Amazon. There's so much bias and archeology and history in general that I think that slows us down sometimes in making new discoveries or accepting the conclusions of new discoveries

    I'm glad you're back.
Everyone I know has gotten the COVID with one having it bad enough for the hospital. Personally I had it super easy. I was taking ivermectin as basically a preventative sort of. Then I got covid and the prescription changed from preventative to active for about 3 days. 1 day light sore throat that was barely sore, 1 day with a headache and 100°F fever but the worst was 1 day of exhaustion. Then several days of boredom waiting on my return to work. I chose to not take the needle and went with immune boosting and ivermectin. I had discovered years earlier that taking certain vitamin supplements to prevent vertigo actually helped boost my immune system. For 5 years before covid I was never sick. Before the supplements I would at a minimum have 2 colds and 1 sinus infection every year. Not only preventing illness but strengthening my bones and teeth. My dentist noticed my improvement and asked what I was doing and I told her about the D3+K2 vitamins and she said that it is known for improving teeth health. I was amazed that its not common knowledge for dental health.

Archeology is so exciting in the 21st century! It's amazing how many new things keep popping up that we didn't know about before. To me, I see it as a way of connecting all of humanity in the past and the present.
