Hi all, bug wipers are plastic blades that run to the tip of the wing and back (with associated motors and retrieve lines) while at the same time scraping the leading edge with very thin monofilament fishing line. This cuts away bugs that are squashed against the wing. The effect for performance is small but noticeable, basically same as changing a new set of tires to racing car (F1, Nascar or whatever). These are mostly installed by competition pilots that want to have 100% of the glider performance.
Cloud flying is great. Is it legal in Finnland? Did you have any ATC Clarence and coordination? I can not see any transponder on the panel radio activity's? Uncoordinated IFR Flight would be dangerous for other traffic and a b very bad example to show here with serious consequences for you. I hope you give us some answers, Thanks
It is perfectly legal and flight was done according to all rules. We follow the SERA rules that state it's not required to have transponder or clearance in G-class airspace for IFR flight. Your national rules may vary of course.
@@krasw Thank you for your answer. In Switzerland we had also free spaces for cloud flying and we did a self separation with blind calls on own frequency. Exist in G space a system of separation?

It looks worse than it actually is, there are plenty of fields. Of course not as much as in continental Europe.

@@ottosmith3997 Yes we announce entering cloud in airfield frequency.
Nice and scary landing..
We have a tall trees around airfield and usually land on the grass, but this is pretty normal with glider flying.
