oo ABOUT NICK MASON AND THE SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS oo
Nick Mason, Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Harris and Dom Beken, aka Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets, came together with the simple idea of playing some early Pink Floyd - the songs pre ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ - that had not been given a live outing for decades! This was the first time Nick had played live since Live 8 in 2005! “Why don’t we get a rehearsal room and play some things and see how we feel about it?” Nick suggested...
A few months later, on Sunday 20 May 2018, Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets took Pink Floyd’s drummer back to the clubs for the first time since 1967 - Dingwalls in Camden, London. The performance was met with huge adulation across the board**.
Three nights at the Half Moon in Putney followed that same week before announcing a theatre tour through the UK, North America and Europe from September, and they promptly sold out! A handful of extra UK shows were announced for April and May 2019, including two nights at The Roundhouse - the venue where Pink Floyd first played on 15 October 1966, at the International Times launch party.

What makes this so special is there's no inflated egos on stage and they're all having so much fun playing together! Blu-ray ordered weeks ago 😎👍
I'm tired of waiting......Put the DVD out ALREADY !!!!!
@@gchutton available from 18.9.2020
Totally agree. Everyone on that stage was beaming from ear to ear when I saw them.
I was lucky enough to see the first night of the tour in North America (and the first time Nick played North America since the Pulse tour) it was very special for them and Guy came up to shake our hands after. It was clearly a big deal for them to finally make it back over here. I love that finally we can get Floyd with that peaceful loving energy on stage that they have been sorely missing all these years.
@@dmstewart66 Lucky you. Bet that was an amazing gig. Definitely on my list of bands to see when this virus nightmare ends.
Idk this is sarcasm or not but i think waters was something simmilar to a egomaniac in the pink floyd after the release of the wall and its success.
Can we just come out with it and admit Guy Pratt is a legend. Absolute legend.
Ultra nice guy too, and bloody funny!
GP is really good no doubt about that. Roger Waters is the true legend.
Guy Pratt is very good, however he's too smooth and confident on bass. I still prefer the stiffer and edgy Roger Waters style when it comes to Pink Floyd songs, they are too much ingrained in my head in their original version.
Actually, the legend is Syd. He composed this song
@@rockista4195 Agreed. His "modern" sound doesn't fit for me.
Nick is a having the time of his life. This is so heartwarming. Thanks Mr Mason. Amazing performance
Yes dude!! Hes reviving the times when they played this live back in the day, he is having the time of his life, just see how he plays. all before all the problems they gone through
This was always my favourite Syd Barrett song. What an album opener. The band do it a great justice and it shines a light on Syd's absolute originality as a songwriter and sonic sculptor. Nothing sounds quite as psychedelic to me as this particular Pink Floyd track. I'm getting a contact high!!
you are completely right, me, I got a flashback in 1970
My favorite Syd Barrett song is "Terrapin".
But I totally agree about this being a perfect concert opener!
Nick most underrated drummer of all time. Timing always spot on
Oh God, Nick's band is wonderful 😲🙃😱🇧🇷
Master Nick Mason was fantastic and too perfect with his band, playing the song "Astronomy Domine" a Classic from Pink Floyd's first Studio Album, "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" 1967 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
@Fenderking Mason shouldn't have told the Press, "David Gilmour Lip Synched songs they played Live on Tour". Mason isn't close to being at the top as Dave is!!
How many "drummer's" go on Tour before
Mason, Zero!
@Fenderking Ok! And you can provide me a list of Drummer's, who go on Tour
w/out "ONE" other original band member
@Fenderking Here it is! There's plenty of
interviews of Nick calling David out for Lip Syncing to Syd's songs. David's voice is unmistakable and no one agrees with Nick. David is the Voice of Pink Floyd, & Lead Guitarist. Fans don't ask, "Who wrote this?" Only, who's singing & playing that Epic Guitar?.…David Gilmour of course. www.alternativenation.net/pink-floyd-icon-admits-lip-syncing-video/
@@julesrose7738 dont read into it too much. David lip synched cuz his voice didnt fit this song
Saw them live last night and can verify that Nick Mason is still killing it at 79, and of course, his bandmates are top class.
Nick Mason is absolutely loving this. Wonderful tribute to Syd Barrett.
Nick does pretty well hammering away on the kit considering he's 76.
Age does not matter. He is an guru in classical drumming.
Im gonna catch these guys in october im so fucking stoked, magic mushrooms already stashed away
@@alanhoffar7770 and your approaching 75 ... that's undignified.
@@alanhoffar7770 yep! Denver show for me!
It seems like Nick has gotten even better over time.
SUPERB , Bet Syd & Rick are looking down and smiling M A G I C
Even Nick was cracking a smile or two. Mind-blowingly good.
Nick really shines on this song 👌🏼
Proof that good songs doesn't always mean long songs.
Because, sometimes, 4:20 is just the right time.
Those guitar solos are fantastic.
the look on their faces , the band are having a blast playing these tunes
Just great. What is esp. neat is that...unlike some now-mature drummers...Nick doesn't have another percussionist playing along to help fill in the gaps. He sounds as solid as ever. Well done! (Great band, too!)
Brilliant. Nick did a fantastic job bringing this together, as well as everything else done through the years.
Apparently it was Lee & Gary who had the idea & they approached Nick who quickly said yes
@@sooty951 Lee had the idea and presented it to Guy. Guy took the idea to Nick, and the rest is history!
Easily in my top 5 favorite Pink Floyd songs of all time.
Yo igual
PARA MI TOP 1 ME PARTIO LA CABEZA
Nick sounds fantastic on the drums here. Just owns it.
Nick looks so happy!
Genial, por fin algo que no sea Roger o David
Así es
Al fin algo que no es DSOTM, The Wall o AMLOR.
This made me smile, everyone sounds great, how cool to see Gary kemp in such a role...and Nick smiling and really enjoying himself...awesome!
Gary Kemp is awesome here isn't he? They all are:)
I've just seen them in Stoke Victoria Hall absolutely brilliant 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I was at this gig!! The closest I think I could get to the experience of seeing the original band live
Oh, well done...well done for certain. Love seeing Nick still Drumming away. He has always had the coolest beats.
Saw the show in Amsterdam last year and was blown away by the musicianship and sheer fun the whole band were having. Looking forward to the Cardiff show - whenever it happens. At least I won't have to book a flight just to see them this time, although it was totally worth it !
Look at Nick's face! Absolutely loving it!!!!
Beautiful camera work, brilliant lighting, meticulous and generous editing, magnificent direction, sensational on-screen talent... I hereby nominate Live At The Roundhouse for a BAFTA.
KING
NICK
It was his drums on this very song that blew me away when I first heard it. Yes, the others were in top form as well, but I distinctly remember Nick's playing capturing my attention. Great to see him beaming while he pounds away on the skins*
We just need him to step up and sing "Scream Thy Last Scream" & "Corporal Clegg" while he plays. A guest appearance with David for these numbers would be a dream come true.
This band is long overdue. Nick has an inimitable presence within Pink Floyd.
* Endless River reference anyone?
Nick Mason is the only member to appear in every Pink Floyd album, think about that.
One of the best (maybe the best) rendition of this masterpiece from Syd Barrett creative genius.
NICK, YOU SAVED MY PSYCHEDELIC TEENAGE SIDE
... THAT'S PINK FLOYD
"HARVEST PSILOCYBE CUBENSIS
Fantastic! Thank you Lee Harris for convincing Nick Mason to take Saucerful of Secrets on tour. I really enjoyed the concert and totally dig the sound of your Admiral Telecaster
Thank you Will. You are most welcome!
Astronomy Domine is always great fun to hear live ... and it must be great fun to perform it ...
The best rock drummer to exist! Go Nicky!
Astronomy Domine - Syd Barrett
Bohemian Nope - this is pure Syd.
I've seen loads of great bands in their prime at my old age but I will always be gutted at missing this show on my 64th birthday due to covid cancelation!! But at least there is youtube where I can see what I missed.. with free ads! (groan)
Pure Pink Floyd sound!!! Waiting for you here in Portugal, Nick!
This track on Ummagumma is the first ever Pink Floyd track I ever heard back in 1973, on a school exchange trip to Arles. It belonged to the older brother of the lad I was staying with. I returned home to DSOTM just out and never looked back. This track was instrumental (excuse the pun) in casting the die of my resultant career in live music and event production - which hopefully I can resume post Covid!
Absolutely wonderful 💎.
Really amazing! Perfect performance. Nick is wonderful!
Me alegra que todavía exista conciertos de este tipo 🎸🤘🏼🇲🇽
The only thing I want when I die is to take music like this with me. May I say, this is one of the best versions of this song I've ever heard. I shat my pantaloon and I didn't even care to clean it up.
Lordy!
Ha....pantaloon a shit..
Very nicely filmed - excellent quality production.
Wonderful version of this song! 🎸🎶🎧
Fenômenal
Absolutely fantastic to hear early Floyd , saw these guys at Dingwalls , incredible live band
Magnifica interpretación del gran clásico de los PF. Sin el agobio de rivalidad Gilmour-Waters. Músicos interpretando sin más.
The best version of Astronomy Domine ever done! With all the due respect to Syd, the creator, and David who played very good renditions. But this ejects you in outer space, it's like a time travel!
Clericus vagans agreed. This was just flawless
The early pink floyd version was silimilar to this...from 68 to 70
I hope you got to see it live, because it was amazing.
Nick's playing this song just as well if not better than he did in 1967
I would say that I m totally agree for saying that guy Pratt is a legend.
That was F#cking awesome! Best version I've ever heard.
AMAZING VERSION NICK!! GREAT!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH 💓🎸🎸🎸
Great rendition of this song . Syd would be proud .
I was really excited and surprised when Pink Floyd played it during the Pulse tour. I was also lucky enough to have seen that tour at Cleveland Municipal Stadium before the city leveled it to make room for Jacob's Field.
I was there also!
I saw the Pulse show at RFK Stadium in DC. When they played this I was just blown away.
I'm so glad Nick is touring with these great songs and he looks so happy. Love it!
Genial. Maestro Nick!
Wow wow💥💥 these guys are slaying, Awesome playing and looks like there having a great time on top it all✌️✌️✌️
Cant stop listening to it
Sensacional!
Great Nick! At 76 he still got it!!!
The best version I've ever heard
I have to agree as much as i love Sid Barrett this is seriously brilliant look at the face of Nick Mason he knows it
wow.... just great....
Early Floyd has to be played with a smile on yer face. Well done guys. Nick's project breathes fresh air into the material.
Thank you, Nick & band! So good to hear these great songs done so very well!
WOW Nick Mason es uno de mis bateristas preferidos, genial!
Stunning....
👍🏻
Nick is still a beast on the drums
All those live versions (Ummagumma, Pulse, Gdansk) are fantastic, but this one touches me the most. Just because of the sheer pleasure these musicians have. They probably feel 18, and they shure make me feel 18 again!
Beautiful version.
BRRRAVOOO NICCKKKK!!
Tremendo!!! Que buena versión!
Great song ! incredible version ! Great drumming ! Great Nick !+++++
Damn they're really jamming on this one! The middle section is fun to watch, so many smiles
Absolutely Beautiful! Syd Barrett was Pink Floyd!
You know all is well in the world when the old fellas get together to play the old songs. Syd's smiling down on it all...
AMAZING
I love this. You can tell Nick is having the time of his life!
Kempy,s loving it 🎸 lucky bastard.😂
POW!
WOW!
Now THAT was bloody good.
Perfect
55 years old song ???? !!!! So perfect song :*
Nick can freaking double bass at 77! Incredible!
(BTW the double bass drumming comes in around 2:17)
Love to see Nick still going strong.
Epic Cover !!!!
Mr. Mason I just saw you in Oakland. i am so glad i was able to see you live again. i havent seen you since 94 (Oakland then too) I had my Pink Floyd trifecta this year. seeing Brit Floyd, Roger's show, and now you lot. bless you all. i loved the show you guys are wonderful
Holy shit! Lovely version!
The "Ummagumma" version of this tune was one of the very first things I ever learned how to play on the drums...
This band is one if not the best musical surprise in the last 3 years
Absolutely, fabulous performance, thanks Nick. Good time for you
I LOVE this performance ❤️❤️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Increíble Nick Mason. Increíble 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Love & liberty from holland zee u all on the dark side of the moon luniez
So awesome...thank you!!!👏👏👏👍👍👍🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊❤️❤️❤️
The old Nick Mason is great! My gratitude to you eternal Nick Mason! Amazing show!
Quel magnifique retour en arrière 🙂
Buen sonido y melodía
Hahahaha what a journey through space and time!!
This era of Pink Floyd had the most dynamic drum parts. Glad to see Nick go back to it and show what he can do
The real driving force behind this iconic band, the daddy to all of the members past and present, the man with the shoulder,a man who can influence and break down the barracades, the peace maker, the brother and sister and mother and father to Roger and David in times of turbulence, the godfather to all plus so much more Nick Mason your EPIC thank you and what a drummer and fabulous all round disciple and pacifist .... when the timing is right....
