The first concert I went to was when my mum took me to see Cliff Richard and The Shadows at the ABC Croydon in 1963. The Shadows became the first group I loved and I still love them.
I'm 61 yrs old. I've idolised Hank Marvin & Bruce Welch and The Shadows since I was five years old and first saw them getting off of a steam train at King's Cross Railway station back in the late 50s when I was just a very young kid. I've followed their every move since then and met them many times and had photos taken with them using my own CANON SLR. Also photographed them many times myself both during and after concerts. For my money and my life,Hank Marvin and the Shadows and Hanks other bands that includes members of his and Brian Bennets family, have been the greatest of all time for me. Ray Davidson, SITTINGBOURNE, Kent, England, UK.
I first heard the sound of The Shadows way back in the 1960's and have never tired of it. They have inspired many young people in my home state, Sarawak, on the island of Borneo, to form instrumental groups (lead, rhythm, bass and drums) and entertain hordes of instrumental music fans at home. The Shadows are an original. Their music will endure with the passage time. I am sure many septuagenarians like me who have been Shadows fans since their teens, will continue to enjoy the music of one of the world's foremost instrumental groups of all times -- THE INCOMPARABLE SHADOWS. Even now, in my golden years, I can still hear the exhilarating beats of Tony Meehan's See You In My Drums. The original Shadows drummer has passed on (God bless his soul) but the group for which he drummed in the formative years, will live on and so will his name as an original member of the group. Hello Kenny. When I was in the British Army I served in Kuching, Sarawak for a year from November 1963. We lived in a tented area just alongside the police flats and down the road from the cinema. It's funny to hear that not too far from me you lived and both of us liked the Shadows. When we were sent on a rest period in Singapore I bought a record or two from the man who ran the juke box. When I had my meals in our cook house I took as many pieces of fruit as I could from the bowl and gave it all out to the kids that hung around outside. Nice to see a contribution on here from someone who must has been quite close to where we were. Best of life to you mate. By the way I am now 75.
There was a 2 or 3-man band playing electric guitar instrumentals from the Shadows at the Moon Cake bazaar at Carpenter Street in Kuching every year until the covid-19 stopped everything.
I first heard this on the Kenny Everett video show in 1981. As good as Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch's contributions are, it's George Ford's octave bassline and Brian Bennett's four on the floor disco drumming that really makes this version a standout for me.
Never even heard of these guys..was searching UA-cam for some older music...I'm so disgusted with what's being played on the radio today.I happened to come across this by pure chance ... I love it ..great music .
Ghost Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend es una canción country.
It's amazing to see that Hank Marvin still makes music! In 2017 he released an album called "Without a Word" and is definitely worth to checkt out.. Just like any The Shadows or Hank Marvin albums!
I saw The Shadows at Birmingham Odeon in 1980. Although I love The Beatles I do admire The Shadows. They walked on stage no tuning and just played. It was a brilliant night. Bruce Welch is often overlooked as great rythmn guitarist.
Ridiculous how the top bods of totp ever insisted on bands miming or pretending to play instruments to a backing track. The Shadows here are just having a laugh about it from start to finish, as I am.. Great to see this thanks for posting
The Greatest British guitar band this planet had ever seen... My biggest respect to them and to you Hank.... and please just carry on such beautiful music your band is doing for decades....
If this song fails to stir an emotion inside you, maybe a visit to your doc, as always The Shadows guitar genius! Best version of this classic song it is more lively than the others. The BEST guitar playing you will ever hear!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!

one half of me hates the tacky disco elements of this era of The Shadows, the other half thinks it’s bloody awesome 😂
Exactly.. I remember it being released and thinking the same thing.
I know what you mean, the thing I hate the most, s the deedened drumming, sounding like a synthesised drum machine.
This is awful

I agree bring back their early era😊

Mr Marvin = one of the happiest guitarists on this particular planet.
Maybe he likes things positive

Hank Marvin's guitar sound is just pure gold...
Saying this as an metalhead...
You think Hank Marvin is great (which he is), you should check out Roy Clark doing this, the man leaves Hank Marvin for dead.
It doesn’t matter what you listen to, when you hear pure genius like Hank Marvin you just appreciate it for the sheer beauty that it is ❤
Never tire of hearing this fantastic haunting song😅❤
Bill Gates and Bill Clinton in same band - interesting.

Spent a decade in Sabah. Often visited Sarawak. Lovely memories
Hank is always grinning like a kid at Christmas when he plays. There's a man who really enjoys playing music, no matter how simple the piece is
Nett
When you make your own music, it always feel that way
It is simple, yet, his tone is like no other. Making something simple sound rich and warm is the challenge.
Back in the 80s, when looks weren't important, and music was :))

Takes yer back to when the world had proper musicians and artists
Takes you back to a time when there was real music !
Total classic, got me rocking sat in my chair, the days when the charts had decent music to listen too.
Nowadays the charts aren't even based on sold recordings. Nor on downloads.
Please do not put those two parasites in the same sentence as The Shadows
Adore super talented Hank, but the bass & the drums on this is AWESOME!!
String of hits (album this is from) is terrific too!
The Shadows at their best - those drums and big Hank on guitar - a delight!
The Shadows, the name had almost been forgotten. But the music of the Spotnicks, Shadows and Rattles deserves to be immortal.
forgotten? not here.
Steve Marriott lingering on stage too!
Great Exciting Music from the British Group "The Shadows " from the 1960's

Incredible Hank Marvin play the guitar. He can play every note percisely while swinging and not once see his fretboard.

Just brilliant - thank you The Shadows. I was lucky enough to see them once.
Well. A disco version of the ultimate western song. I want to kill everything. Actually, this may be the best disco song ever recorded.
Well, I don't "like it up the wahzoo", but since most disco is shit and this isn't as shit as the rest of it... it wins.

Great

Bloody weird disco country cross over -and the worst thing is: it ain't half bad.
HAHAHAHA!! Exactly!!! But Hank's playing is still awesome...the disco sound effects are laughable though.
IT WAS A BIG RECORD BY VAUGHN MONROE IN 1949 TOO !....////
+PeterPug007- the album version doesn't have boing-boing drums. the single did. take your pick.😉
one of the first musical renditions. a far jump from the ballad it was really recorded as in i think the 1940's by burl ives and others
Great comment made me laugh so much, it aint half bad love it.
Love this version absolutely beautiful listening from Tongatapu Island 🏝 👌🙏
