This week's Music Monday video features Evgeniya Kanaeva's Clubs Routine from the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She had chosen a Remix of "Poeta" by Vicente Amigo ft. Maxime Rodriguez.
The Russian Rhythmic Gymnast was the only gymnast to score more than 29 points in the ball, hoop and clubs and claimed the Gold Medal in the All-Around competition.

I'm always blown away by rhythmic gymnasts flexibility. It's just astounding how beautiful they all are
This result is the sum of genetics plus training. In Russia it reaches its highest level because Russian women are very beautiful and their training schools are the best.
True, but rg is only partly about flexibility. To me it's one of the least important or hard things
I remember seeing this performance on TV back in 2012! I've been a fan of artistic gymnastics for many years and I had never been interested in rhythmic gymnastics until I saw this queen perform that day at the Olympics! Thank you Evgenia for introducing me to such a beautiful sport ❤️

Even though I don't think this is her most flawless performance, she is still my top 1 rhythmic gymnast
@@patem7379 sometimes i thinks clubs were justher weakest apparatus.. even tough she didn't like rope,was way stronger with rope than clubs generally, but the clubs routine of 2008 was incredible
@@patem7379 yeah, I was saying this thinking about for examples the little disaster with clubs at Minsk 2011, clubs are the only apparatus with she hadn't win a medal at the Ech Finals weirdly enough.
@@patem7379 indeed 2011 was a weird year for her, although ironically she said she enjoyed more 2011 and 2012 rather than 2009 and 2010.
@@patem7379 well her ribbon, ball 2012, clubs 2012,hoop are a big evidence of her big improvement in terms of interpretation, while I think she was less stable during 2011, I honestly think hse was way more enjoyable because she was able to show maturity, sensuality and elegance on the carpet.. Anyway she is one of my favorites ever gymnasts, so my impression with clubs is just that were her weakest (for her) apparatus, while ribbon the strongest.. Like for Yana the weaker were ribbon and hoop
@@patem7379 yana revolutioned this sport because from especially kabaeva gymansts relied heavy on bd,while yana tooked the apparatus handling on a diffeent level,and won without having incredibles bd(but her balances were cool,those lines helped).
yes kanaeva had a wider range of bd than yana and she is still in my top 3 with kanaeva and tchachina,but yana is the the quntessential meaning of perfect esecution,fludity and handling

Even though this was incredible, this wasn’t the best she’s performed with clubs that year. She really dumbed down the routine and I don’t blame her. I would too. Some risks are not worth it.

That's why she's Olympic champion twice yeah... i love yana but she's so boring sometimes to watch... kanaeva has everything... if they've been in the same era, do you think kanaeva will give her title easily? She competed in two different COP lol and the scores lol... the only gymnast to have perfected it under 30 points... that clubs is her highest in the Olympics
